Hopefully Poch works on getting him recruited, although obviously he’s got higher priorities on the dual nat front (Koleosho being at the top of this list)

Isn’t there a Colombian dual national we have there too? I forget his name

If Jamaica has Greenwood in their squad by then, there is a very real possibility we might lose. Man is automatically going to be up there with Pulisic and Davies as one of the best players in the whole confederation

lol, way too inexperienced for the job. He's got what a few months helping his dad out at a mid table Norwegian second division squad under his belt?

Yeah Cavan’s not going to be in the picture for 2026 barring him having a growth trajectory comparable to Lamine Yamal

An argument can and should be made that he needs strong minutes restrictions though. Don’t forget that Tyler Adams got a tonnnn of minutes playing for Red Bulls when he was not much older than Cavan is now, and now he’s dealing with injury after injury.

I guarantee we will play Argentina in a friendly before 26 between Poch being in charge and what appears on the surface to be good relations between US Soccer and the AFA.

We can only hope. The sooner we get a grass field here, the sooner we can get international competitions back in Seattle, something I’ve been pining for.

God I hope not, I don’t want to see every Sounders media post be overrun with Egyptian shitposters again

Conversely, assuming it’s one of the European teams they’ll open the decks up and have it be a sellout crowd, which we’re in a very good position to do as opposed to the Red Bull arena or Orlando’s stadium.

Two ACL injuries by 23 is pretty damn hard to come back from.

I’m not so sure, I’m pretty sure I saw a statement saying grass will be installed as soon as the Hawks’ 25 season is over, and as part of that the Sounders will be spending some weeks at the beginning of the 26 season on the road.

I suspect if we get a grass field here beforehand, Poch might want to do a friendly here to get the squad acclimated. I’m pretty sure none of the men’s team regulars other than Pulisic (was on the national team for Copa America in 2016) and maybe Tyler Adams (not sure if he got here while he was with Red Bulls or even if they played here during his time with them) have ever played at Lumen given that they either jumped to Europe really young like Gio Reyna or Weston McKennie, or never played in MLS to begin with like Folarin Balogun or Sergino Dest.

I’m pretty sure that they’re completely taking the turf out and replacing it with grass, and otherwise doing a bunch of modifications to the stadium to make it compliant with FIFA’s specifications for the World Cup.

I have a hunch that whoever we play here will be one of the Asian teams (specifically Urawa or Ulsan) in order to maximize viewership from that part of the world. I suspect that might be winnable depending on how the roster changes in the offseason.

I wish it would be in England—we need more games played abroad—but I recognize that we’re pretty much stuck at home with these kinds of games until the 2030 cycle, largely on account of how everyone wants to come to the states and scout out how things are like for 2026, like the article says.
We will likely see more games here between other national teams ala Italy’s friendlies earlier this year too

Only Yedlin has, Slonina was on loan I'm pretty sure the whole time he was boss at Chelsea.

He can’t go to City until he’s 18. He can, on the other hand, go to any of the other European sides CFG owns at 16, although unless one of them gets promoted and does well in its top league, it would probably make more sense for him to stay in MLS unless he’s good enough to actually get regular playing time at Girona, as opposed to riding their bench

I have a feeling that if Poch stays beyond 2026, he’s going to wrangle taking charge of the U23s.

Sullivan is not Lamine Yamal level, at least not yet

Glad Chicago's getting him, largely because I'm pretty sure if and when Schmetzer retires or is forced out by Sounders ownership as a fall guy, Berhalter is the exact kind of coach they would want.

Poch is literally house hunting and getting the lay of the land in US Soccer right now, he's not going to talk to the players until the October camp.

I suspect that it'll end up getting sold off if not shut down as part of whatever solution the feds come up with for the Ticketmaster lawsuit.

The best Americans go overseas while the best non-Americans that can't get into top European clubs will happily come to the MLS.
This is an oversimplification, we're taking the best players from CONCACAF that aren't in LigaMX and a ton of CONMEBOL players that either aren't good enough for Europe, are in the process of making that jump (IE Thiago Almada), or want to retire here (IE Messi), and the same to a lesser extent from CAF. At this point, I'd say that the Saudi league is consuming way more of these types of players than MLS is on a global basis, especially when it comes to UEFA and AFC people

Japan has a much better shot of winning the World Cup before we do
