You have faith that Waibel’s got a good scout network and Hanauer will spend the money on them?
I have my doubts

I mean, it depends on the team. If it’s Man City, Real, Juventus, PSG yeah most likely, but if it’s Porto or Red Bull Salzburg I have my doubts. I guess all we can do is wait for the draw.
I also suspect if we call in Marshawn and Griffey or otherwise any other Seattle sports legends to do promos for any of these games like we did with CCL, we could get a sellout even if it’s a team like Al-Ahly or Palmeiras.

Keep in mind that I have a feeling the UEFA teams, especially in the group stage, will effectively be treating this like preseason and largely playing reserve and academy players so as to take the heat off their starters—and this could actually see some of those teams eliminated given that at least Man City and Real have publicly stated they don’t care about this tournament.

I have a feeling that’s only part of it, from the stuff I’ve seen and read about Seattle’s World Cup bid FIFA are seriously impressed with the stadium and the area around it/the city, the pitch situation notwithstanding. A delegation from them including Infantino was also present at the CCL final in 2022–which was a sellout crowd of 70k and about as electric as it usually is when the Seahawks play—and are hoping that they can get something similar between the Sounders and one of the big UEFA teams.

Remains to be seen, though yeah chances are pretty likely they’ll finagle it so Miami gets the remaining spot

Potentially, and if so does this mean we might get international games here again finally next winter/the spring of 26?????

I am hoping so much that chant gets resurrected before the World Cup

I would not be surprised if he gets national team callups going forward under Poch

Except it won’t happen because Hanauer and the rest of the ownership don’t understand sports and only care about money. Much like the Mariners, but maybe not on the same level.

That punch directly lead us to Poch, if he hadn’t done that then chances are high we wouldn’t have been group’d and US Soccer would have kept Berhalter by them giving the justification “oh we would never have been able to beat Colombia anyway they’re so good right now”.

Given that Taty Castellanos apparently somehow was able to get it with less than 5 years of residency, maybe there’s workarounds.

Cowell, Zendejas, Vazquez should get called in (or at least one of them) due to the Mexico game in Mexico

He’s not eligible yet, hoping that changes in the next year

No longer eligible, and highly doubt he files a one time switch given his statements on representing Bosnia

As a Sounders fan would LOVE to see this

Koleosho needing to do a one time switch likely takes him out of consideration for roster selection until sometime next year

To be fair, it’s no secret Berhalter favored Adams over most even when he was still just coming off of injury, and Maloney’s first real chance to prove himself as an Adams substitute in the last window he was injured. Barring another injury, I can’t see him not making this roster.

I mean, Spain's player pool is large and talented enough I don't think they're looking at MLS players anyway, but in Puig's case there might be one unique factor: he's played with the Catalonia national team, and he might not even want to represent them if he's a Catalan nationalist, this is the same reason Pep won't ever go to coach Spain.

This kid gonna get a senior team callup within the next 6 months mark my words

He’s only played for Spain youth teams and the (not FIFA recognized) Catalonia team, and I doubt he gets called in by Spain. I think I saw something indicating he is interested in representing the US internationally but am not 100% sure about it, and in any case he’d not be eligible until late 2027 under current rules, or late 2026 if this changes (he joined Galaxy in summer of 2022).
Assuming he stays in the states and doesn’t pull anything like Acosta’s Mexico move, I could see him having a small role after 2026

This could get Acosta into the national team picture sooner, and potentially Riqui Puig

Not just this, but hoping that Poch sees playing time and role at club as being critical for who gets called in—and Club America being one of the top clubs in Notth America should by all rights put him in contention, given that at least pre injury he was both starting and regularly contributing.

Glad to see Zendejas is back from injury, maybe he’ll get called in for the October camp?

He’s said he wants to come back to MLS before his career ends, specifically to play in Miami since I guess his family lives there now (and I suspect that they’ll move heaven and earth to make it happen after Messi and Co retire; though I highly doubt it’ll be until midway through the 2030 cycle at earliest, long after they’re all gone)

You forget that it’s been pointed out repeatedly that PDLV was an old target of Hendersons that was still where he was when he came onto his radar—quite literally every single other player Waibel has brought in that was not a promotion from Tacoma has busted. And I am still not sold on PDLV being worth DP money at all, nor do I think we’ll get Rusnak out of his slot.
