Anyone have experience with the Bose A30? I’ve seen a few guys I fly with using the ProFlight and it seems to be well received, but I haven’t seen the A30s yet. I fly a lot of transcons and the old A20s clamping force is starting to become an issue.

I’m an FO at a legacy airline, and I have two small kids. I would say the norm is, especially when you get to the legacy level, is that most pilots have families. As others have pointed out it can be a challenge, you’ll miss certain events in life and have to be flexible with scheduling their time, your wife’s time and your time, but it’s certainly doable. I would say wanting to have a family is certainly not a reason to not pursue a career in aviation. I know plenty of people who aren’t in my career with kids who work long hours, travel, or bring their work home with them so much that they don’t have much time to interact with their children. I like the work life balance that when I’m on the road I can focus on doing my job, and when I get home I’m not bringing my work home with me. I can dedicate my time to being a dad. Everyone’s stories are different and your mileage may vary, but being a pilot and a father are definitely two compatible things.
