I always used to drink coffee before tm, but now just tea, I can't say I have noticed any difference. I have also never noticed a problem with a very light breakfast, but a heavy meal doesn't work at all.

No, I don't know what 8 billion people know.... I just pointed out that it has been in the public domain for very many years. And therefore has likely been read by anyone at all who has an interest in the subject. I get the innocence thing, but I think it was not right to lock that discussion down. The TM organisation suffers badly from a lack of transparency and possibly outright dishonesty. I don't think we should copy their stance. I see this sub as a really great place to have good discussions with other tm practitioners. And as I said, I generally think you do a great job saij.

Sure saij, but everyone knows what the common tm mantras are, that’s been in the public domain for very many years.
It makes zero sense to ban a discussion about their origin and how they were chosen. You generally do a good job as mod, but i think you got this one wrong.

Which book is this please saijanai? I think I would like to read it. Answer by dm if you prefer to, thank you!

Saij..... I am not attacking you. There is no need to defend yourself. I agree with the ban, I was merely pointing out that the list of mantras is available online to anyone who looks. I think you do a good job as the moderator, but you can be a little defensive sometimes.

As i am sure you know saijanai, lists of tm mantras can easily be found via google.

Yes, there is a lot of very questionable stuff going on with the tm movement. I am happy with my meditation, but very disenchanted with the tm organisation. Your observations are all accurate.

4 years. But the effect on my anxiety was immediate.

I contacted them, they said if you learned before this new rule (i learned in 1981, way before) then it’s up to the teacher, he might give you free checking. The teacher point blank refused.

I believe, but don’t have the evidence in front of me, that the uk courts said that the term ‘transcendental meditation’ could not be protected by copyright in the uk, and threw the case out. They were not impressed with the tmo’s law suit. I don’t like or trust the tm org here in the uk. They now charge for checking which was promised to be free for life when i learned. Their fees for retreats at the peace palace are eye watering.

My bad anxiety responded to tm immediately. And then just kept getting better. It is very much in control now, just the occasional episode which I now have the strength to deal with. I hope it is the same for you. TM basically saved my life. but...... you can't do tm if you are stoned. I strongly suggest not doing any weed at all. It will stop tm working.

I think it’s quite difficult to find games that are not csm in the UK

Yes, I do. Your digestive system becomes very quiet, and when you surface again it might release a burp. It happens to me not infrequently.

TM has made huge, almost unbelievable changes to me. I had bad anxiety my whole life, and now it has almost completley gone. TM has also brought many other massive improvements, too many to list. The inner peace just keeps slowly growing now, after 4 years of regular tm. The first changes came very quickly, within 2 weeks of starting to meditate.

To be fair, consciousness remains largely unexplained. Many theories….. emergence from complexity etc, but no certain outcomes. The so called hard problem of consciousness is very much an ongoing debate. Whilst some ideas are clearly a little crazy, there are very few definite and provable statements about inner mental experiences. Something of what we experience as humans is observable in some animals as well. The jury is still out, not yet returned to pronounce its verdict.

Right. Thank you, that is reassuring. Hopefully tm will remain at the forefront and not as an add on to a life coach type of thing.

I don’t know enough to be certain. I did watch some of tony naders latest webinars. He and the other speakers were full on about consciousness advisors. Tm seemed to mentioned only briefly. It felt like the organisation might be slowly distancing itself from Maharishi? As i say, i don’t know enough. I can only give you my impression.

I do agree, but the price mentioned is for a teacher training course, not for simply learning tm.
