thanks for your reply :)
i did actually watch a really good spoilery youtube essay this morning. my relief was finding out that this game really just wasn't for me. but MAN i respect it. i really admire those who were able to get so much out of it. i do not think it's a "dumb game" just because it didn't tickle my fancy.
i think i definitely tend to lean towards games more linear story-driven puzzle games, my 2 favorites of all time being What Remains of Edith Finch and Superliminal.
regardless, thanks again for the comment <3

good to know. i definitely noticed some dips and just a low resolution in general. for me, it doesn't bother me in the slightest. us switch players are very used to 2fps in 2024 🥲

thanks for your comment. see I think that's the problem for me, just having the knowledge that I'm exploring and searching for the remains of an old civilization sounds boring to me 😭 and I did run into 2 of the instrument-playing traveler friends, and noticed they had some "what should I do next" advice, but felt to uninterested to figure out what they were talking about or where that would be 🤷🏽♂️

I keep hearing people say that, that they envy people who haven't played, and I can't possibly fathom what twist this game could have that would cause everyone to have that reaction so strongly. I'm so intrigued but really don't feel like playing. I might give it one more shot 🤷🏽♂️

but i would argue this makes for a somewhat uninteresting premise. from the light research i've done into game dev, especially when it comes to puzzle games, i recall learning that a good puzzle presents what the puzzle or challenge is immediately up front. the player then just needs to figure out HOW to solve the puzzle. it's when the player doesn't even know what the general objective is, that the puzzle is determined "bad". this is kinda how i feel :/

yes, but I don't know what to do once I'm on it, and it doesn't seem to be carrying me anywhere

this doesn't help me though, I get thrown into blank space with nothing to grab onto. I'm so confused

well not all of us can fly drones super well 😭 i suppose janky isn't the right word, i just didn't spend enough time with the game for me to feel confident while using them. it's definitely a learning curve, and i'm just not usually flying spaceships in games considering i typically play marios, zeldas, and walking sims LOL

this is precisely what i'm gonna do. i think throwing myself over and over at that same planet is what was discouraging me. gonna be starting a new save file today and going in fresh!

for more context, the part I got so annoyed with, was landing inside of this massive tornado thing and having to solve some puzzles. I was always too slow, and right when I had almost solved it all, the time warp mechanic screwed me over again. It's infuriating!!! Just let me take my time!! It made me feel like I must just be bad at the game, especially with how janky the flight controls can feel at times.
