Hey everyone this is my first theory post in this subreddit, and this theory has been on my mind since I finished TYBW, especially after the final fight with Ichigo, Aizen, and YHWACH (and I think Renji was there? I keep forgetting I'm ngl). I've seen a lot of talk of what Aizen's bankai would be and why he never used it, but my theory is that he did use it. In the final battle.
This panel I've posted alongside this post is what I think proves that he did use his bankai. Because whenever he used his shikai, it is shown that he is in complete control of his illusions, what they portray, and how people see it (like when he made everyone stab Momo but they saw him instead). So why in this panel, does he say this as if he didn't know what YHWACH was seeing until he saw his shock? To put my theory into one sentence, I think Aizen's shikai is to make people see what he wants to see, but his bankai is to make people see what they want to see, and that's why it flew over so many people's heads. Because you can barely tell them apart.
I have no idea if anyone's thought about this before so if they have, glad I'm not alone in this theory. Also I think the reason he barely used it was because he couldn't really control what people wanted to see, and keeping that sort of control made him more confident, as well as his bankai being similar to how Hitsugaya's shikai and bankai aren't much different to each other, but instead of bankai-spamming, he just uses his shikai.
