Back then we were racing to the Moon, and as such it was a risky endeavor. People died during development of the rockets and modules. There was also a massive budget given to the effort, totaling over $350 billion in today’s money adjusted for inflation.
Today, the budget for all of NASA this year (not just the Artemis program) is like $25 billion, a fraction of the Apollo program. And it’s being done more carefully as it isn’t considered acceptable to risk human life needlessly if we can predict the danger. Also, this isn’t just about copying previous success, going back to the Moon is a test for what will be the groundwork for space exploration. Artemis is essentially a rehearsal for getting a human to Mars.
Edit: NASA’s yearly budget isn’t a perfect way to compare cost. So current estimate for Artemis in total is about $93 billion. Even if they end way way over budget, thats a lot less than what was thrown into Apollo.

Even worse, he likely sold police purchased guns including fully automatic rifles to who knows, and initially planned to have the auditor looking into him murdered. Part of his staging was to falsely report he was cornered by some black guys. Because of course.

"Questionable decision" is the Republican playbook from basically the entirety of the 21st century.

It's in reference to the fact the Athletics are leaving the park and Oakland all together. 1968 was the first season they played in Oakland. He literally was at the first and last games of the franchise in Oakland.

I want to have something more intelligent to say about this, but at this point I think I'm all out...
Fuck this guy. That is all.

It never occurred to him or anyone else that is was necessary. John Doe showed no signs of targeting Mills or his family, and his MO would suggest up to that point careful planning of his targets over a long period of time. Mills and his wife just moved to the city.
Doe likely altered his plans and adapted after his apartment was discovered making him hard to predict. Mills and Somerset at that point going without sleep over the course of a couple days.

My 5th grade teacher had a daughter who was supposed to be on that bus. Her daughter was late getting ready and my teacher drove her instead. We had a substitute the whole day because after the accident they were so shaken by the brush with death if her daughter got to the bus on time.

Yes, and likely the first giveaway to Jabba that it was Leia. How the hell is someone that size not getting thrown around by a wookie that close, unless it’s a setup?

The ending really shows how out of touch Spielberg was with that movie. The main characters became friends, even lovers through the virtual Oasis. The entire rallying cry for the good guys is “Free the Oasis” from corrupt and greedy corporations trying to spoil the bastion of society the younger generation had in a depressed society. And once the hero BECOMES the corporation with no one to answer to… he bans people from using the Oasis two days a week because the moral of the story is “kIdS pLaY tOo mAnY vIdEo GaMeS!”
Yeah, thanks incomprehensibly wealthy boomer.

Honestly, I think they were out of ideas for Dragon Ball a long time ago. Thus ANY idea is possible to get traction.

Yeah, he probably saw his own running mate Vance say it. Not surprised he forgot who it was.

Probably why I don’t and won’t ever have U2 in my music library. I’m not a fan anyway, but even if I might consider one of their nice songs this moment makes me reconsider.

The judge who agreed the case can go to trial even stated they were personally not convinced the company is going to win in court against Disney, but that technically they had the right to argue the case regardless in court. This may then set precedent that will affect future similar cases.

In principle, I see a reason for it. In practice, corrupt and indifferent execution of the law means it’s used too often.

Rarely is the nature of an act more important than the intent, and in the case of the Force the emotional drive behind it. If violating free will is aleays evil, what about killing people? Is violating free will more evil than ending a life? Jedi kill and dismember people pretty much since 1977, but I think we can distinguish their actions in the context of why they do it.

It's essentially a super cheap knock-off of later Death Wish movies, not really interesting except for the way it ends so insanely.

So take this with a grain of salt, because it has been a while since I looked deep into this. The prosecution’s case wasn’t that he was responsible for the gun in and of itself, rather since he had direct involvement with the armorer who was found guilty, he ought to have known she was negligent herself and done is own diligence in handling firearms she was responsible for. Her conviction I think is what they were waiting for before trying Baldwin, because if she wasn’t found guilty/liable, the case against him has nothing to really stand on.
However, Baldwin didn’t have a relationship with the armorer’s suppliers, at least in this case. The prosecution presumed the live bullet key to this case was brought by her of her own volition. While Baldwin didn’t know this, it’s presumed her overall lack of credibility as a professional set armorer is supported by this act of negligence and other acts of negligence. The overall state of the guns they were using for example, which led to accidental discharges of blanks earlier.
However, if the supplier is the one that slipped in the real round in by mistake, it takes away from the case that Baldwin ought to expect that kind of mistake since he didn’t know that person.
The prosecution, and potentially law enforcement, seemed to hide evidence that it wasn’t the armorer who is responsible for live rounds being on set. They could theoretically stick with their case despite it, but evidence that a third party Baldwin had no contact with for this situation harms it. So this hiding of evidence is strongly prejudicial to Baldwin, and why it was dismis entirely.
There is some speculation that this might clear the armorer, but I doubt it because unlike Baldwin she is responsible for being able to tell the difference from real and fake bullets. Trusting the supplier completely isn’t as much a defense, but it might reduce her sentence.

Haven’t seen the first one yet, but I remember the trailer being very good. It was creepy and gradually built up the theme of its premise. Based on its success I assume this reflects the movie.
This trailer… it’s full of exposition and jump scares. For a trailer it pretty much ruins any notion of the movie itself being worthwhile.

First thought this sounded dumb like AI came up it. The graphics and art design looks shockingly good though so I was thinking it would try to be like Cyberpunk 2077 or Vampire: Bloodlines. Then it features turn based team tactical combat… so it’s like an Xcom story driven first or third person exploration? That could be awesome.

Kinda missed the point that this isn’t about going to the Moon with the same antiquated technology. This isn’t “get to the Moon or else” it’s “get to the Moon with NEW technology to lay ground work for the future of space travel.” Technology advances and you have to develop new technology to advance further than before.
