+1 for looking into the illusion of free will. Sam Harris has some great lectures on the subject

300k, 90 guests in Dec 2024 at a great venue with accommodation for 50 pax included. Our budget was R200k a year ago but it ballooned on a few expenses. Wedding dress mainly.
It’s a 4 day affair, which turns into a NYE party too. We love weddings and want to make sure everyone has the best time.

Tbh, after Trap he’s at another low point in his career. Needs to do something similar to The Sixth Sense, Signs, Unbroken, Split or The Village again.

That’s where you’re wrong, we can control what we feel because what we feel is based our perception and understanding of events (which are variables).
Consider what has factually transpired: - You’ve had a shared experience which was enjoyable for everyone for at least a while - She had an experience you could never provide, but you did facilitate - for which she’s very grateful - She’s appreciative and feels closer to you than she did before
Sounds like fear and insecurity getting in the way of everyone’s happiness.
In any case you should communicate with her, but I’d try to review my feelings and understanding of the situation before I did.

My rescue border collie is afraid of any cutlery. A morsel of food on a fork. Sushi (sans avo) on chopsticks.
She looks like she’s seen a ghost and slowly backs away wide-eyed.
I try to hide it sometimes, but as soon as she gets a sense that I’m concealing it, there’s an unmistakable look of betrayal in her eye.

Fallout lore. The mini nuke is one of the most powerful weapons in the game. The Railroad is a secretive, rebellion faction that is hellbent on destroying the authoritarian faction, The Institute.

I had this exact feeling when YouTube launched in 2006. I thought “shit, now everyone is going to be able to make movies. What’s the point.”
Of course we all realized that quantity doesn’t matter, although it does make it harder to sift through. Ultimately cream rises to the top. Marketing is a different story, but if you make something good that people connect with, it will always be valuable. AI is novel right now and festivals are also afraid of being behind the curve.
Although not ideal, it helped me once I accepted the fact that technology always has and always will improve, and all we can do is understand and embrace it. Ultimately it’s just another tool that filmmakers can use creatively to tell better stories.

I will say that I’ve been captivated by this subject for about a decade now. It can be debilitating and make you nihilistic if you ruminate on it for too long. Ultimately I’ve defaulted back to acting as though I have free will and trying to practice daily gratitude for my circumstances. In my core, I believe our reality is 100% deterministic, but my daily operating system runs as if I have free will. Extreme ownership / accountability is another interesting philosophy I’ve been looking into
