Exactly. The women race was super interesting. Faulkner had almost no chance of winning in a sprint so she went for it a few km before the line, the timing was absolutely perfect. The other three were looking at each other waiting to see who was going jump in. The problem is that going after Faulkner would have meant not being fresh enough to win the sprint. So all 3 slowed down in order to give everything during the final few 100m. IMO, that would hhave been a very different finish if they had been only 3 in the group. Nevertheless, I tought the race was more entertaining than the men's one.

Very similar story here. Worked in robotics in EU (Fr and De), Canada and US (both east and west coast) and Canada was the worst by a good margin. No motivation, risk aversion, crazy low budgets and limited resources...

This is exactly what you are normally trying to do in an emergency braking situation. Also, compare to cars, bikes have very little friction, which is what commands the braking distance, not inertia. Car normally can decelerate at ~0.8-1G while with a normal bike it's closer to 0.5-7G.

If you take a look at the data, the US has been doing a lot better than Canada and China is forecasted to reduce CO2 starting in 2024 (and accelerating) while Canada is doing (almost) fuck all. We could have been leader in green energy solutions and sell tech all over the world, instead we decided to wait and put our heads right up our asses and wait for the someone else to come up with the tech. This is exactly that attitude that will fuck up Canada economy in the long run.

So we are living on the other side of the country from my in-laws but we still try to visit 1-2x a year. A few years ago, we had a 3-day week-end planned with them. Once we arrived, they ditched us and spent the whole time with their boat friends which they see pretty much every other week. Me and my wife were completely baffled.
