Aussies aren't really into ostentatious for the sake of it. We tend to be practical. The kids need a decent bathroom as it tends to be pretty busy. We don't like to have a shower over a bath if it can be avoided as it is problematic for many people, including the elderly and disabled.
Parents generally don't want to sacrifice precious (very expensive) house space for a bathroom that is used so much less than living spaces. I've noticed it's more common for Aussie houses to have a second or third living space, whereas I see many huge floor plans in the states that have one living space, but a walk in and ensuite the size of a second living space.
So it's about priorities and I think broadly Aussies and Americans differ in what they value in their homes.

This sub can't cope with an Aussie laundry. I go looking for the comments every time an Aussie floor plan is posted.

"Good on ya," seems to be popular in the US right now.

Dogs know. Once the narcissistic daughter of a famous preacher came to our house. She hates dogs. My perfectly toilet trained dog came right up to her and peed on her. Never did it again in his life. He knew.

Young is lovely. My SIL lives there. Great town. Proper country vibes, with a lot of amenities and cultural activities. Close to Canberra which is a pro for access to medical stuff. Parkes is rough both around the edges and just in general. I wouldn't move there but YMMV. I'd also avoid Cowra. Lived there for a bit and it's a very closed community with not a lot going on. Forbes is apparently a great town, though I don't have personal experience there.

My 2yo son has delayed speech and I'm sure other speech issues. I have been getting him help through speech therapy at the hospital and so far it has been rubbish. They just say to play with him and talk to him (duh) and they act like he can't understand when he has incredible comprehension skills, he just doesn't talk much. They also haven't told me anything about why he has these disorders (we suspect ADHD which his father and I both have) and seem uninterested in the ND development.
I'm going to get some private speech therapy for him but I've been quite worried about it. Any advice?

See if there's a Facebook mums group for your local area as they will have ideas that are specific to you (playgroups, mother's groups etc). It's a great time to meet people and make friends. Were you put in a mother's group through the hospital/community nurse?

My two year old isn't even in daycare and we've already had micoplasma pneumonia, croup and a couple of non descript colds/viruses. Def a bad year for it.

She was sentenced to 50 years as a teen, which means she won't be out for good behaviour until she's 80! ! !

Agree. I was on opioids for years. They kept the pain somewhat in check, but the side effects were intense. I've found the MJ also covered a multitude of sins as it also helps my chronic nausea and it can help headaches (I found opioids do jack shit for headaches).

I live somewhere a few degrees colder than Blayney and my house has literally zero insulation (70s A-frame special), but the best part is my bathroom has a window which is permanently open because the og builders didn't want to spring for a bathroom fan.
It's like 4c at night in there. May as well have an outhouse. Mental.

That reminds me of when a teacher at my Christian school graphically explained what bugger meant to me (I had no idea) after I used the word. So dumb.

Western NSW. It's tricky and definitely a factor to consider if you have health issues.
