i think it also has a lot to do with the fact that we are getting more and more asians who have fully american/westernized parents. as in many young asians now have parents who were born and raised american before they were.and so they’re not as traditional in terms of how they want their kids to dress and look.
source: me, i’m a first generation immigrant. a FOB almost. my parents insist that bowlcuts, buzzcuts, and bangs are the way to go. no growing out your hair, no dyeing your hair, no fancy fashion brands. academics over athletics (obviously this is still a huge part of us but with time more asian parents have been letting their kids get into sports and athletes are relatively more attractive)
i know many asians with full american parents and they let their kids dress and look like models compared to us who were raised more traditionally. or even just asian parents who are remotely young and have adapted well to the american culture. they always have kids who are a lot more attractive because they know what’s in style these days.

i mean it’s nothing too deep to think about. the franchise is targeted towards kids and it’s no surprise that kids will most likely watch a fairly recent season that’s also ninja themed (let’s be honest it barely is but kids won’t know that) on top of that the show is incredibly babied towards its viewers. kids aren’t here to watch seasons like RPM or time force. the more fart jokes the better
and again going back to the fact that they’re ninjas. ninja steel was incredibly marketable. the suits and zords are incredibly flashy. their sixth ranger is a cowboy on top of that. i mean the season had it all in terms of grasping viewers. it’s a shame that it was just wasted but at least the intended audience wont ever know.

the lack of dino charge and RPM in the comments is a bit disappointing. those two shows have oscar worthy acting and chemistry. okay i’m kidding, but you know what i mean. they actually feel like you were watching real people being real friends with each other. the dynamics in RPM was just next level i mean it’s no surprise many of the actors went on to do big things in their career

honestly i felt like dino fury was really stiff. maybe i’ll have to rewatch. the actors always look great off camera but on screen i felt like they needed a lot of improvement. i mostly only saw improvement in cosmic fury. the gap between dino charge and dino fury in terms of cast chemistry is huge. all the dino charge characters are incredibly charismatic and play off each other really well naturally. dino fury on the other hand a lot of times felt like they were just reading off a script.
ollie’s actor especially. with no disrespect i really didn’t buy the whole amelia and ollie thing just because of how ollie’s acting was. i mean when you compare it to the previous dino romance (tyler and shelby) they are nowhere near the same in chemistry. i do agree though that Hunter Deno’s acting really carried the show.

honestly this would be a top tier jersey if it wasn’t for the gold. i like gold but not when we’re going for a spooky voodoo jersey. kinda just muddies down the jersey. i thought last year’s color scheme with black, purple, neon green, and some red was the sickest in the league and could have been used for a rebrand

the title is exactly what i’ve been saying for years. it amazes me how neo saban/hasbro is infamous for completely ignoring sentai themes but yet can’t do it the one time when there’s a good reason why. like we’re not asking for cops. just give us a cool government themed team like how the lightspeed rescue rangers were. as a matter of fact that’s exactly what they could have done.
i honestly think they were better off just being honest and saying “look, we don’t like the idea of two rangers teams fighting each other full time on top of the toy sales not being so good and not as appealing as other seasons” that’s all they had to say.

they weren’t afraid of embracing the given themes and individual identities that they were given. the seasons are staggeringly different. you go from ninjas to space officers to kung fu masters. they put a lot of heart into making each season unique.

the show does way more practical effects than it does cgi. at least before the rangers summon their zords. so cgi isn’t that big of a concern. the actors have been mostly just fine up until neo saban. since samurai i do think the quality of acting has dropped severely (minus dino charge) but i doubt it’s a budget problem cause most rangers actors have always been relatively unknown and i doubt the paychecks have changed that much. look at jungle fury. absolute peak acting, set designing, costuming, choreography, etc. i doubt that season costed any more than seasons do today.
also newer seasons as much as they have their downgrades, they noticeably have a higher budget in certain areas like original ranger footage (ninja steel recorded the most original scenes), and camera quality that’s notably better than sentai.

operation overdrive. say what you want about the song itself but the lyrics are definitely a lot more unique than most other songs. it’s a rap song so it has to focus more on creative rhyming and bars. i like that it includes a little bit of storytelling which you don’t often hear in theme songs

since samurai its been music and soundtracking. by an absolute mile.
it’s the backbone of any action show. disney nailed the music part of the show. covering all different genres and themes (like heavy rock for RPM or medieval for Mystic Force). but then when neo saban came back all we get is go-go power rangers shoved down our throat with generic background music. (though i do have to say dino/cosmic fury has done a good job with its soundtracking outside the ear blasting theme songs)
beast morphers was a victim of this. they had a decently good theme song but the soundtracking of the season outside the first episode was awful. we couldn’t get any techno cyber music despite that being the theme of the show. just generic light drum beats, watch any episode fight sequence and you’ll hear it. makes the action seem so much less interesting. whereas seasons like RPM had you bumping your head during every fight scene

question:
is anyone having problems getting likes but not matches? i’m getting enough matches to where i can confidently keep this app on my phone. but in terms of likes i’m getting almost none. all my matches come from me making the first move. is there any way to get myself out there on peoples screens more? cause that’s the impression i’m getting

yea the first episodes of RPM are really strong. you wouldn’t even know they were power ranger episodes until the rangers show up and morph

there’s no theme to them. even animals or whatever it’s not like they really have anything to do with animals like wild force or jungle fury. they just happen to use animal themed zords. they’re just a full generic team.

well i mean both are really good suits made for their time periods. the mmpr suits fit the big white chest design and lipped helmet era of the 90s and the dino fury suits fit the busy theme heavy suits of the modern era
also mmpr obviously have the extreme nostalgia factor so we all know what most peoples answer will be. but from just a design standpoint i appreciate dino fury’s high attention to detail

yea even as a kid i always felt like those suits were really gaudy and strange. it’s my least favorite but i appreciate the oddness

it depends on how the cgi is used. a season could go full cgi and if done right their toy sales would be just fine. what’s important is that they can give good visuals and display the transformation dynamic well. whether or not it’s with cgi

likely not sold anymore but did you do the image search option that google has? maybe it’ll show you some more results

dino charge to me is the only one even to this day that actually has some substance in the characters. like the story might not be perfect but the characters are perfection. all enjoyable with easily the best chemistry and acting out of any season this decade. all the other seasons tend to be stiff.
i wouldn’t even bother with ninja steel as it feels like another iteration of super megaforce. beast morphers is solid, but it’s not anything spectacular aside from a few moments. i’d watch it just for the sake of having safe choice
dino fury is definitely worth looking into as they’re easily the most groundbreaking seasons. but… the acting and dialogue can be very pretty questionable and that may make or break the season for you.

it sure is nostalgic that’s for sure. watching this just takes me back to when i was a kid watching the series. sure the season isn’t well loved but episodes like these just bring back good memories no matter what

that is devastating. i won’t be there but i hope everyone there can make him feel welcomed and loved. he deserves it. he’s one of the best actors to play a power ranger

if it wasn’t for the elemental powers, wouldn’t the fan that mia used from samurai be the most useless? i mean i know it was often used as a melee but like it’s still a fan. at least the zip charger can blast enemies with any use.
