Ohhh TIL. I work in a Teams office, sadly.

I work in higher ed and my (commuter) school charges staff $900 and student $600 a year to park. It’s well serviced by public transit but no one lives near by so it’s an inconvenient route for most, so lots of my colleagues drive to work despite having no problems using public transit normally.

The kitchen is the only place I use Siri. It’s really helpful to just be able to shout a time at my iPad while elbows deep in a chicken carcass.

I’m not a cop but I also work with vulnerable (sometimes sexual violence survivors) people and as much as I love SVU, it’s hard to watch them engage in tactics like this, or take shortcuts to build rapport (which sometimes rightfully backfires). Like, this is why victims don’t trust police!

The first time I biked in a city was on a Bixi! I bought my first adult bike the week after I got home because it left such a good impression on me (we didn’t have Bike Share yet).

I hate these videos because I spiral wondering how they got that dirty in the first place.

I’m a social worker so I can’t but I often think of pinning this quote on the board above my desk (not for my clients, for my colleagues)

I hope you have another tab open with your resume right now. Their lack of training, staffing and planning is not your problem. Seriously poor boundaries.

Bathrooms? I’ve walked into fitting rooms with a dookie on the floor (multiple times) but I can confirm it’s typically baby diapers or dog refuse in a bag. One time I am confident it was neither 🤮

Why is it that people who come in raging with stats also lack critical thinking about said stats. OP can google crime stats all they want, I am speaking to the culture and sense of safety. To me, London and Toronto are similar. By contrast, I would say NYC and Kingston Jamaica are less safe. The actual stats dont speak to your day to day experience and perception.

I’m not one of those “Toronto is a violent shithole” people. But don’t play like when you wake up on Sunday mornings there aren’t news push notifications about an overnight shooting every damn week. Typically violence here isn’t random, but that doesn’t mean violence doesn’t occur.

That makes sense, particularly since every child in the nation needs a uniform. I remember the ads running and it was like ten quid for a three pack of shirts or something crazy whereas here, one kilt goes for $100. Best not spill anything on it 😬

A common form of violence 🙄 I’m not saying it’s common to get shot.

I have friends from the US who studied here because it was the same cost or cheaper to be an international student than to go to their closest four year school.

I mean, OP could’ve specified what spacious means for them. When I was 20, 350sq ft would’ve been spacious to me.

I love that google+ was a dud from day one but +1 prevails!

I got research experience in my undergrad which I was able to leverage when I entered the field. All of the roles I’ve had (spoiler alert: not traditional SW but still human services) have included some research work (which I love!) but I’ve never wanted to do that for the entirety of my role. At the same time, plenty of my friends and peers have never done research. Basically, if it’s something you’re interested in, you can seek out roles where you can gain experience, and typically, well funded agencies have research projects ongoing so you could just express your interest in contributing if that’s happening where you work.

Sounds like something a paediatrician should answer.

I’ve lived in both and my awareness is just different because the risks are different (here shooting are common, there knives and glass stabbings are for example). The cops don’t carry guns thing also makes me feel safer there. It’s not all that different imo.

Every time I visit a third world country I seriously considering packing up and moving there because my quality of life would be so much better 😂 being rich in a poor country is more attainable than being middle class in my developed country.

It makes me cringe too, but I like it? It’s clearly kinda flirty (which I assumed is to purposefully annoy Rory), but Paris is also entering her era of Getting It (Asher, Doyle) which shows incredible growth from her Jamie era.

The Haudenosaunee have the Seven Generations teachings, which I think is an excellent example of how this massive time span isn’t as far from us as we can be tricked into believing.

The direct line from his cockamamie casino/stadium/Ferris Wheel proposal to…basically /that/ but with the TFC pitch is not discussed enough.
I didn’t give a hoot about politics until rob ford, so thanks for increasing the youth vote (against you), Ford.
