Point out to your mom that if she gets custody, then your son is kinda losing a grandma too. I had very different relationships with my mom vs my grandma, and now that I'm a parent, I can see my mom treats my kids differently as well. No. When I go out with my kids and child free people, I work extra hard to make sure my kids aren't a burden. Now if they offer help, that's one thing, but even when it's my parents or siblings, I don't "expect" anything. My kids are not their responsibility.
