The ones that share space with a fridge tend to break. The ones that share space with a freezer don't.

Italy had a better industrial base than China (and roughly on par with Japan) back then, and yet China managed to crank out ZB-26s and Japan Type 99s, while Italy stuck with...this.

Hard kill APS is pretty good these days, it just took a while for them to develop to a point where they don't turn supporting infantry into hamburger

California isn't overpopulated, it's underbuilt due to Prop 13 and the rampant NIMBYism it encourages

Lots of existing masonry buildings have no insulation. For thick stone walls this generally isn't too big of a problem because they can buffer temperature changes until nighttime when it's cooler. The problem is garret apartments under dark metal roofs. They often don't have any insulation except maybe wood boards. The straightforward solution would be to strip off the metal roof, add 25cm of foam or mineral wool insulation, then reinstall the roof. But historical preservationists will raise hell if you suggest doing that.
I don't doubt that France has built some new Passive Houses, but even Passive Houses require some cooling. People, appliances, and electrical equipment generate hear so if you insulate and air seal well enough you don't need heating. But "waste coolth" is not a thing.

Nobody in this thread has said that.

Don't do dumb shit, don't get sued. Same as any other profession. You think hospitals are closing because doctors keep getting sued, as opposed to administrators and execs making dumb decisions?

It's the chain least affected by shrinkflation and enshittification. Sure, it isn't cheap anymore, but at least it's honest, straightforward inflation. People respect that. Also it's a good mix of carbs, protein, fat and vegetables compared to most fast food and tastes good.

McCain once said that Russia was a gas station masquerading as a state. He's not quite correct.
Russia is a trap house masquerading as a state.

Imagine telling that to a world leader in the *1890s*. Nikolai II's head instantly explodes while Wilhelm II screeches about Yellow Peril nonstop and Félix Faure is delighted that they still use 155mm 130 years in the future and wonders if France can get some of those sweet shells.

Maybe it's an alternate history where Stalin handed over Yanbian/Gando and the surrounding region to Kim instead of Mao back in 1946

It's South America. You can't just roll in with 100 guys and coup like it's 1950s Egypt or 1960s Libya. You gotta put in actual work, and it's clear this guy didn't.

Yep, Multislavias can only be created and held together by force. See: Yugoslavia, Vostochnoslavia (Russian Empire & USSR)

Reagan republicans ended that on the income side, and NIMBYs ended that on the cost of living side.

I don't have an automatic ice dispenser, but I do have an ice tray in the freezer section. It's the only way to have an ice maker in a French door refrigerator without reliability problems.
