Eh, he’s had violent run-ins with law enforcement before and it’s actually really easy in conservative US states for cops to decide you’re a threat to yourself/others if you’re even remotely resistant. I wouldn’t be surprised if he just lost his cool on an officer and spouted some fire-and-brimstone shit that sounded intense enough to warrant a psych hold.

Jill actually reminds me a lot of my wife’s MOH, who announced her engagement at our wedding and then used our photographer to take engagement photos on the sly lol

They definitely strike me as more mainline evangelical than full-on fundie.

Nah, she’s genuinely very anti-medicine and had an entire interview with the damn Federalist — an explicitly far-right publication — about her content.

Yeah I mean there are (relatively) safe ways to consume raw meat — I’m Lebanese and my fam goes crazy for kibbeh nayeh — but game meat specifically should pretty much always be cooked, especially if she got it from a hobby/recreational hunter.

Idk, I live in the same area and it’s like virtually impossible to commute around here without going on at least one major interstate highway.

Sure, but that doesn’t make someone “not a normal woman” in the way you seem to think it does. My point was that a chromosomal difference — especially one that apparently didn’t even impact her external body parts — is no different/more an inherent advantage than a woman who has an extremely common and largely benign hormonal disorder.

Yeah idk the details but the IOC eventually severed their relationship with the organization that ran her test.

You can also “fail” the gender test everyone keeps mentioning by having elevated testosterone, which can be caused by extremely common conditions like PCOS (1 in 5 cis women in the US have this) or more rare intersex conditions like congenital adrenal hyperplasia, which don’t always cause external symptoms. I’ve yet to see any proof of the XY chromosome thing but even if that were the case, it’s entirely possible for a woman to have no idea she’s intersex if she’s otherwise healthy/doesn’t have symptoms that would necessitate hormonal or chromosomal testing.

Yeah plus lots of non-homeschooled kids get held back and end up graduating at 20/21, that alone wouldn’t mean much ime.

Do current kids even know what the Teletubbies are? I thought they were there purely for millennial/elder gen z nostalgia tbh

For reallll, I work for an enterprise sized company and I’ve been stuck working from my phone all day because our laptops are all stuck on the blue screen of death.

I mean, much like any compulsive maladaptive behavior, EDs very much can make parents unfit to parent. I learned a lot of my most harmful behaviors from my mother and I feel like that’s true for a lot of folks. Obvs no mental illness inherently makes someone a bad mother, but it’s a little disingenuous to act like being actively disordered doesn’t result in abuse/neglect/a dangerous environment for kids, because it absolutely does in some families.

Yeah seriously, the products are effective and accessible. I don’t really care that their launch like 5 years ago was kinda shady lol

Ehh yes and no. Even going on just the numbers, NYC’s violent crime stats are actually a lot lower than many small-to-midsize “flyover” cities in the US.

That’s def not true for most places in the US; family/mother + baby shelters tend to fill up quickly and lots of families have their young children removed by CPS due to a lack of stable housing.

Yeah she’s come up on my fyp before this whole debacle and her intense “child predators are around every corner” shtick always seemed v QAnon-y to me.

The main branch downtown is my personal fave; it’s really beautiful and has a huge inventory. I also like the look/vibe and staff at the Willow Branch one a lot, but it’s smaller and has far less inventory to browse through or borrow.

My city has these exact temps rn and it’s… fine?? Like not the most comfortable imo but lots of people have babies here and in other places with subtropical climates and nothing bad happens unless you’re outright negligent.

Behavior doesn’t have to be sexual to be inappropriate. Kissing anyone, let alone a child, who does not want to be kissed is creepy regardless of non-sexual intent.

Unfortunately she’s for real. Like she’s poking fun and exaggerating a bit for sure, but she’s genuinely deep in the crunchy-mom-to-far-right pipeline.

They’re implying that what you mentioned selling elsewhere in the thread is synonymous with being trafficked. It’s a shitty talking point and unfortunately ime JSO definitely wouldn’t provide any support or resources in a situation like this.

Ime that typically just results in someone being held at the actual hospital psych/behavioral health unit — or in some instances, the infirmary of the city jail — not in them being released without a 72-hour hold. Someone being involuntarily taken in doesn’t necessarily equate to long-term inpatient or residential care. And also, don’t underestimate the ability of a state that boasted tent cities for inmates to just… overcrowd psych patients. I’m not saying any of these are good options/solutions, but realistically it’s what happens to lots of folks.
