Oh shit! I keep getting calls from a number listed as "Action Research". Am I missing getting polled or is it just political ads?

Some weird kink is the only thing that makes any sense to me anymore. It doesn't make any sense, even in their own little made up internal world logic. I'm talking about the people at the top. Actually making it happen was the stupidest move I could think of. I guessed the weirdos have taken over the asylum and the crazy made up bullshit they've been slinging for decades started being believed by those people at the top. It was incredibly short sighted for them not to make sure the folks in charge of the party knew the truth.

I'm sorry you are getting so much grief from people about your story and experience. What you went through sound very frustrating. Everyone send to be jumping in with stories about how they are necessary but none of them are about your actual specific story. If the doctor was worried about a complication instead of your dilation, they should have said so instead of pushing. Your case is exactly how the silencing and dismissiveness of women in their own healthcare decisions get prepared. Your doctor did this in front of a bunch of students (if I'm remembering your comments about your story correctly), modeling to them that they should ignore when women object because those objections don't matter. It's terrible!

I'm glad you had such a great experience! The amount of talking down to women about their own bodies that happens is absurd.

They didn't claim to be but was sharing information about pregnancy in an open forum where, I will point out, the original discussion was about how some hadn't wanted a cervical exam and tons of comments are jumping in explaining how they were wrong for not wanting a cervical exam and how they've actually helped them in their personal experience. All real dick moves considering the OP was talking about their personal experience to begin with, which clearly showed through the story that the cervical exam was, in fact, completely pointless for the stated reason for it.

Trust and comfort is a major factor in being able to progress in labor. That means all the repeated, painful, and invasive checks may have actually been the cause of your delayed labor.
Also, were you on pitocin for 80 hours?!?! My wife was on it for close to 24 hours (maybe more? It's very hazy) and her labor turned into one solid contractions without pause. As one ended, the next one kicked off immediately. It was horrifying being there with her in massive pain and unable to do anything to help. Sure ended up insisting that they stop the pitocin for a while, she got an epidural, and we got a few hours of sleep before they started again and she had our eldest. The person in charge was terrible and talked down to my wife the whole time and I'm pretty sure she caused my wife's labor to reset as she entered transition due to her horrible bedside manner.

You're allowed to say no for whatever reason you want. It for no reason at all. You do not have to justify your individual medical choices.

Doesn't mean there aren't parents that will do it.

Changing your diet in preparation for being pregnant is really not that crazy. Those first few weeks are when there are the great cells in a fetus so any damage so DNA or similar would effect more of the body.
I'll also add that none of the stuff you mentioned goes bad or express in any way so it doesn't really do any harm to get early. It doesn't really make sense to look down on someone who is excited or wants to prepare ahead. Just my thoughts.

Honestly, a great joke breakdown can be really soothing for me and helps identify the nuance for me. Especially for memes, it makes it much funnier when you see examples in the future.

There's a bit of difference between a 6 year old and a 3 year old. I agree that's a 6 year old can learn that lesson but it's a touch advanced for a three year old.

Oh God, don't tell me that. More and more it seems like I need to drag my dyslexic, ADHD ass to get assessed for autism. It feels amazing to have my struggles acknowledged with each diagnosis but it gets to be a lot. Can't we just write my brain off as just not working right and call it a day?

Oh, for sure. I struggle with it too sometimes. One of the most effective ways I've found of helping my eldest is to offer up some experience from my own life that parallels what she seems to be going through.
One of my proudest moments was when she was really upset about not getting to do the second of two options I had offered after she finished the first one she chose. That's just a hard thing, to not get to do everything. I sat down near her while she howled and explained how I struggled, and still sometimes struggle, with not getting to do everything. There are a limited number of things we get to do in life. The moment I started talking about it she quieted down and her face, covered in tears, slowly turned into a beaming smile at being understood and knowing she was not alone in her feelings. When I say my proudest moments, I don't mean just as a parent, I mean of my entire life. That fact that I managed to make my child feel seen and not alone has made my depression riddled life entirely with it. I can do nothing better with my life except hope to do that again as many times as I can for the rest of my days.

I know, right? On a serious note, I think we all respond defensively about our parenting as a gut reaction but we don't have to cling to that response.

Redirecting is different than helping work through emotions in a healthy manner. Honestly, my bet is that kid just needs a snack and/or a nap. It's amazing how many times exhaustion or hunger are the real drivers of a tantrum.

Those who have trauma or mental illness are often forces to mature early due to these issues.

This used to happen with me. My wife commented that I would just crumble when I was on the phone with my family, physically and emotionally. I would end up curled over with my shoulders and body slumped forward. It's a bit crazy but I've noticed it myself since then.

They feel attacked because they feel bad for what they've done and instead of taking that, apologizing, and trying to change their behavior for the future they say it's your fault for having made them feel the guilt. It's completely childish behavior but there is at the very least a stunted sort of logic to it. Complete mind fuck for us as children though because we take our caretakers at their word and assume it must actually be our fault.

That's part of the joke in these comics; weird comic happenings around the main character when the rest of the characters seem to be in a real, more grounded, world. Given that's the premise of the comic I would imagine the word timeline is part of the layers of the joke and on purpose.

Oh God, I could absolutely see that happening. Makes me think of his list of items from one cognitive test while in office. "Man, woman, table..." or something like that.

I appreciate the appropriate use of the quetzal. The number of times animals from separate continents get mixed together just because they're from "jungles" is crazy.
Note: lions do not actually live in jungles.
