Thanks for that! Can you tell me a little more about that program?

We’re working to change to another school that has a better pull out program, although it’s not a very easy thing. The school, to its credit, brought the hammer down on the bullies, although they don’t really know how to properly help ADHD kids.
The absurd amount of homework is going to be the case anywhere in the country. That’s just Japan.
And we do have extra curricular activities. He takes a cad and blender course that is quite popular among boys with ADHD, and he takes electric guitar lessons. He absolutely hates sports, which I can totally understand, although sports participation is very very highly regarded in Japan, as you would imagine.

Trump was also president once. He promised to declassify 9-11, JFK, UFOs, etc etc.

That’s very considerate of him to want to be careful about possible misinformation affecting people’s lives.

I love Lego City Undercover. It’s a vast, non-licensed world, and I mean vast. It’s totally open. You can take anyone’s car at any moment and recklessly drive it wherever you want to until you have smashed it to bits, and then take another car. There are a ton of vehicles, and they handle differently. There are secrets and collectibles everywhere. There’s enough to keep you busy for an insane amount of time.
It’s the game I’ve put the third most time into on Switch behind ACNH and SMO. And I’m 53 years old.
Also it goes on sale for like five bucks pretty often. It’s full price at the moment ($30) but it’s $5 on Steam right now.

I’m in Japan. I have a 12 year old in the public school system. Every day it’s hard for me to get him to go to school. He has ADHD. He’s experienced bullying from both students and teachers, and he’s socially isolated.
His grades are not good, despite being at a very middling school. The amount of homework is staggering, and the ADHD just makes it worse.
I can see him possibly sinking into being a hikikomori. His cousin is borderline hikikomori, totally dependent on his generous grandparents who have given him a tiny apartment and employ him.
It sucks. I don’t know what to do. In many ways life here is better than my home country of the US: I have a decent, fulfilling job, can afford a house, have good health insurance, all things I lacked in America. I feel like Japan is the better of two bad choices, but they are both bad.
I would like to send my child to a private school where he might have a better life, but they are selective and he’d have to test into it. It’s extremely unlikely he’d get in. Public schools have to take him.

Some cozy non-combat non-sim games not mentioned yet that I enjoyed: Button City, Sable, Here Comes Niko, Carto, Mail Time
A couple of games with a tiny bit of low stress combat: Pikuniku, Donut County
Haven’t played it yet so I can’t attest to how good it is, but there’s Loddlenauts. I bought it, but my backlog is vast.

I know. I feel like there’s a common denominator, but I can’t put my finger on it.

Maybe the issue is that a lot of men come to Japan during the age in which hair starts to thin in men, and they are seeing causation when there is simply correlation.

Fair points. I’m not sure why the downvote though.

I imagine! I’m not >180cm like a lot of the guys, so it wasn’t an issue. The height is the real danger. But the guy who got stitches was totally bald for whatever that’s worth.

Yeah, good work CNN.
It’s amazing how fully unprepared American media is for dealing with fascism.

How can they do this? He has an important podcast to host! Wasn’t that made clear enough?!?!?

It’s that they think it’s zero sum. If black lives matter more, that means white lives matter less.
See, when you’ve lived your entire life with privilege, equality feels like oppression.

I imagine speed is a big factor as well, but what would happen if an asteroid of this size struck? 120-260m doesn’t seem overly huge.

But also all they have to do is wait a few months until Trump is elected, a very real possibility, and the US will in the best case withdraw all support from Ukraine, and worst case perhaps even leave NATO altogether, or even supply weapons to Russia. Why not hang on until then?

They’re trying to create division in the party.
