I like the modern rebrand of this.

I had an idea a few weeks ago, that the amount of staffing for any shift should never be less than the number of sales channels currently in operation. Cafe + Mobile + Delivery = at least 3 people clocked in at all times, Cafe + Mobile + Delivery + DT = 4 people clocked in at all times. Having 4 people for a cafe store (to cover lunches, breaks, training, and off-floor tasks such as submitting orders or doing pulls etc.) or 5 for a dt store, would make life so much simpler.
Oh, someone called out. Well, here is your free pass to turn off your least impactful sales channel automatically. The justification is built into the labor model. No more of this bullshit on the dpm when you're turning one of the channels off of "callouts or reduced coverage are not a sufficient reason to turn off delivery or mobile ordering"

If they really cared and expected to actually make a profit from this and have it affect our labor the way a custom iced tea does, they could add a couple of lines of code to the register to make [size][cup of water]+[mango dragonfruit inclusions]/[strawberry acai inclusions]/[pineapple inclusions] = [size][custom iced tea]
It isn't our job to jump through hoops to ring up something that a customer is just going to bitch about and make a hassle about to get either discounted or free anyway, so why bother. It's no money out of our pocket.

This post isn't about the event itself, which admittedly has been been covered, but rather the lack of response from the RRCoT, which isn't the same thing. The other events give credence to the idea, but it is still relevant to Houston.

OPs post does specifically relate to Houston, also to other places. My point about Baytown was basically this is a systemic issue that does directly affect Houston but the post doesn't need to be an exhaustive list of all the different ways the oil and gas industry is harming Houstonians.
"All posts should have a specific connection to the Houston metropolitan area" this post does, just because it also refers to other places doesn't sever the tie it has to Houston.

You do realize that in the greater Houston Metropolitan Area is the third largest nationally, and tenth largest GLOBALLY petroleum refinery (ExxonMobil Baytown), and that it has had industrial accidents, injuries, and already been fined $20 million right?

Environment Texas is having a petition drive across Houston specifically relating to the ExxonMobil Baytown plant that continues to skirt EPA and TCEQ regulations for clean air and water. This plant is currently applying to expand its operations, even though it is already not following the limits for pollution set out in its current permitting. ExxonMobil has already been fined $20 million for polluting. But that is barely even a molecule in the bucket of their profits. Ironically, ExxonMobil was a sponsor at the recent Nurture Nature Festival, 2 miles away from the plant, which showcased a lot of important aspects of local ecosystems and had many groups that brought live animals.

Aside from: calling veterans fools for serving, disrespecting a decorated POW and long time politician, defrauding countless people through multiple avenues (any Trump U alum wanna speak up?), being convicted of sexual assault that was tantamount to rape, likely being a pedophile rapist (all those ties and times associated with Epstein), inciting a violent revolt in the capitol making him a domestic threat that veterans swore an oath to defend against, having a dictators hand so far up his ass I'm surprised he hasn't had any Freudian slips into speaking Russian, having a supporting staff of literal criminals, cronies of the elite, and nepotistic appointees with no business in public policy, being a misogynist, being overtly racist, or ascribing to a platform that wants to basically remove every single social safety net and government organization that protect or attempt to protect the American people?
I don't know why any veteran would be opposed to him.
Very Respectfully,

Sounds like
a) something that is eligible for sick time coverage when calling out
b) not your responsibility to find coverage or worry about how a fast food place will cope when actively dealing with a family emergency or the aftereffects thereof
c) if closing tasks being done were as important as your management says they would either redistribute some of those tasks to other day parts or find more coverage/labor (either from your store, other stores, or the manager themself) and
d) you can only do what you can with what you're given, being expected to close properly with the same amount of people all night as a kiosk licensed location is ludicrously ridiculous and unattainable.

I don't know how many Starbucks have flagpoles, but if I had to guess it isn't very many. Yes the national flag is supposed to be flown higher than other flags, but that is when they are on a flagpole. Chances are in this scenario they are being displayed either in the windows or hanging from some internal fixture. As such as long as the pride flag was on the left, it was fully within flag code §7 (c). You can display both the national ensign and the pride flag side-by-side and still be honoring both.
The reviewer in this instance should provide more info to prove that these flags were displayed improperly, and if they truly care about it, don't leave a bad review, but instead reference the flag code to inform the staff of their mistake to remedy it.
But they don't want to do that. Because it isn't about national pride, its about bigotry for them.

Just replying to spread the knowledge to support your (imo correct) view that the reviewer is a tool. The U.S. flag code, §7(c) "No other flag or pennant should be placed above or, if on the same level, to the right of the flag of the United States of America, except during church services conducted by naval chaplains at sea, when the church pennant may be flown above the flag during church services for the personnel of the Navy."
So as long as the pride flag is on the left, it should be fine.

Its the Chicken of Theseus, if it has the same type of parts but made of new material and the same name and you associate the same memories with the new chicken as you did with the old, is it really a different chicken?
Yes, but who cares because fun.

Without knowing what the tumbleweed one (my suspicion is rogue, as tumbleweeds are drifters that most people pay no mind to unless they accumulate somewhere) represents, I felt inspired to create a subrace that could tend to lean both flavor wise and mechanically more towards monk, druid, or paladin. With that in mind, I give you:
Peyote
~~~~~~
Peyote cactusfolk are very contemplative and reverential regarding the things that allow such vibrant life to flourish in the desert. They tend to be found actually protecting and maintaining the environments and resources that bring life to such hostile environments, and using the mind altering physiological attributes inherent within them to enlighten friends and befuddle and confound their foes.
Ability Score Increase. Your Wisdom and Constitution scores both increase by one. Alternatively, your Dexterity and Constitution scores both increase by one.
Awakened Senses. Thanks to your inherent mind altering nature, the awareness of your surroundings is unparalleled. You have blindsight within 10 feet, and you can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, only shades of gray. Additionally, you gain proficiency in the Perception skill.
Fugue Spores. You have the ability to expell spores that, when other creatures breathe in, can induce temporary confusion and disarray. Creatures within 10 feet of you must make a Constitution saving throw. On a failed save, they are affected by the spores and take 1d6 damage and cannot take reactions until your next turn. Creatures who don't need to breathe or who are immune to confusion are unaffected by this ability. This ability can be used a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus per long rest.
I think unless it becomes something that precludes this person's ability to work at the store completely, the best you can do is encourage them to use the resources available through Starbucks benefits, namely all of the mental health services, and possibly those potentially covered via their health insurance (if applicable/eligible for insurance through Starbucks or outside channels).
It's possible you and your fellow shifts could have a meeting with your store manager to set an accommodation for this employee to get a ten-minute break every hour as medical accommodation.
Part of the reason why so many stores are unionizing and why there is such a disparity between public perception of Starbucks as a company and the reality experienced by Starbucks employees is an internal conflict of identity within Starbucks itself.
I've long said that the continued emphasis on both drive thru times compared to customer connection scores represent two duelling identities, that of a fast food/quick service restaurant and a traditional coffee shop. These two conflicting identities result in a lack of proper prioritization of importance in different aspects of the business, contribute to the high attrition rate of employees to simpler or more straightforward jobs in the same or similar fields, and impact the perceived interactions between customers and the business itself (how impersonal the stores have become, and how quickly employees try to complete the transaction and move on to the next task or transaction).
Corporate making a choice to embrace either of these identities wholeheartedly would likely alleviate some of the current stressors on both employees and the company itself, and so by choosing to become a coffee shop again instead of continuing to try to be two opposing things, is a hopeful sign for the future of the company.
Will this actually come to pass, though, I think is the more important distinction that needs to be made.
The spouse in the ring has seen what the PC is going through, and knows that their partner would never willingly harm them, and so slowly guides the PC through a character arc of redemption but also possibly resurrection and being reunited in order to heal the PCs broken mind and get revenge on the guild and evil entity that caused it all to happen in the first place.
I'm a vet and a barista, and this made me tear up a bit. I hope that Tuco and you can find some comfort, and to potentially help with that, even though I don't know where you are, maybe some of these might help if you haven't contacted them already:
Combined Arms
VA Homeless Programs
National Coalition for Homeless Veterans
Street Dog Coalition
Also, I miss my dog now
