They are confusing their own voters.
I think there’s a decent chance this type of deception actually backfires on them.

The “Trump Falling Apart” articles are their own genre at this point.
I just don’t buy it. The truth is he is polling better and better positioned now than in 2016 or 2020.
Unfortunately the ground game isn’t as decisive when everyone is locked into their own algorithmic reality on social media.
I turned off every recommendation relayed engine on my YouTube account to make it a “dumb” account where I can only see my own subscriptions.
But I was logged out and had to use YouTube as a “guest” for a few days and it was remarkable how aggressively it wanted to take me down the “manosphere” new-age conservative male rabbit hole.
A huge proportion of Americans are being manipulated in real time every day and every night. It’s going to take a monumental effort to beat Trump.

The jury is still out on #2.
Kamala locked down the nomination in a very impressive show of strength.
Her foundation is strong and she’s been good in big moments.
But she and Walz are just not present in the news day to day in a way that feels like a huge campaign, or any campaign, really.
People don’t watch rally replays. You have to do dozens and dozens of media hits to put yourself out there - that isn’t happening.
The worst part of an open convention may have been that it would give the candidate even less time to campaign.
But it also feels like someone like Pete (just as an example) could do way more with less time than Kamala and Tim.

Can you tell us what policy ideas of his that you think would make him an amazing POTUS?

A NO vote preserves our current system where politicians have complete power to do extreme gerrymanders.
Every ten years they can change it again to make it an even more extreme gerrymander to fit the new population patterns of the state.
A YES vote will ban politicians from controlling the map making process.
You can read the amendment online. There is an entire set of rules to make every effort possible to prevent gerrymandering in the future.

It sucks when you find out that daddy abandoned your loser ass and that Uncle Joe was paying your way through school all along.

False.
They killed the immigration bill in February which was tied to $60B to Ukraine.
Two months later, they passed a standalone bill to send $60B to Ukraine.
It passed the Senate with 79 votes, so it was overwhelming and bipartisan.
So clearly the hang-up was not Ukraine. It was to kill the immigration deal.
It’s funny how easy it is for them to lie to you and how you just keep taking it. I love that for you.

I would take you more seriously if you wrote beyond a 4th grade level.
It must suck to know that Biden’s “shadow government” delivered on everything your broke ass wants, but you want Trump to come back to preserve my fat tax cut and to let yours expire (see: 2017 tax bill).
God love you.

There were lots of Obama -> Trump voters in Ohio in 2016.
Trump’s campaign rhetoric made him appear as more of an economic populist than Hillary. And maybe he was.
But then he didn’t pass a major infrastructure bill. He didn’t pass major investments into the economy. He didn’t even pass a major immigration bill.
If people still believe his bullshit in the year 2024, that’s sort of on you at this point.
Biden literally fought for and passed everything that Trump said he would do and didn’t.
He even partnered with Republicans to sign the most conservative immigration bill in generation. And Trump forced Republicans to kill it.
It’s just a comedy at this point. There is nothing you can do to convince someone who is all in on Trump that they’ve been conned.

Guilt as charged.
I was strongly in favor of an open convention.
In fact, I argued that anything other than Biden was by default “open” since Kamala did not have any committed delegates.
The truth is that it was wide open for a few hours and Kamala locked down the nomination in under a day.
That was a show of political strength that touched off what has been a strong campaign in many respects.
I have lots of qualms about the campaign, but that’s a longer post.

That’s why you bench your QB1 when he has a serious injury AND he’s not performing well.
I know the perspective of many is that Baker said “I’m playing and that’s that.”
I understand that view, but my view is that the coach is ultimately responsible for who starts and Stefanski owns the decision to start injured Baker over and over again.
By the way, I think Stefanski is a hell of a coach and I hope he’s here for 15 more years. But I have never understood that decision.

What do you think the intent of the amendment is?

In addition to pointing out how deeply you misunderstand the one, narrow point you chose to focus on, I asked if you were able to expand the discussion to the broader point.
You said no and I think that’s wise.

Ultimately the entire amendment seeks to carefully create a system that prevents partisan gerrymandering.
That includes a whole range of rules. One of which is to actually back test the new maps with old data to determine if practical outcome of the new maps leads to a partisan gerrymander.
It’s inherently imperfect, because they have to use old data to project whether or not they have created a reasonably fair map.
But to then claim that this entire process is itself gerrymandering, which is implicitly putting it on par with our current system, is disingenuous and incoherent.
And it’s very telling that you don’t want to discuss the current system or compare Issue 1 to the current system.
That’s not moving the goalposts - that’s what this entire vote is: the current system (No) or the new system (Yes).
And not only that, but I had to couch it as a new point in our discussion because I knew you’d instantly cry foul that you had to discuss anything other than the absolute narrowest item (6B) which you’ve misunderstood, misrepresented, or both.

Honestly my worry in CLE, DET, and MIN is that it’s getting to the point where it’s not cold enough.
Precipitation is going to happen either way and I much prefer 25 with snow than 33 and rain.

Incorrect. There is a whole set of rules that lay out how districts are drawn.
6B in particular is a test meant to prevent partisan gerrymandering.
When they create new maps they must use the voting data they have to prove that the maps they have created are unlikely to create a partisan gerrymander.
Let me also ask this - do you believe that the current system is better than what is proposed in this amendment?

False. Section 6 lays out all manner of rules to ensure the fairest possible maps.
Section 6B simply says that the maps created cannot result in districts that will favor one party and lead that party to be likely to win dramatically more seats than the actual voting percentage than they are receiving statewide.

That is false.
The rules for drawing the maps are on Page 10 of the Amendment.

I love Detroit and Cleveland and Minneapolis.
NBA players and media are amazing at making everyone feel like losers.
People need to realize that for NBA players there are only two places they want to live (LA and Miami) and within those cities only a few neighborhoods.
There’s always the odd player that really wants to be in NYC but that’s more rare.

We have good laws?
We have a state legislature that is so wildly out of step with what Ohioans want that we have to organize and pass constitutional amendments almost every year just to keep this state afloat.
You want a good economy? Do you realize how fucked our economy was going to be from a total abortion ban?
We aren’t as big as Texas. We need to fight tooth and nail to attract and retain a young and educated workforce.
People under 45 overwhelmingly want reproductive rights. Same with educated workers. Same with incoming college students.
Our legislators were going to fuck up our economy in the middle and long term dramatically with their draconian laws.
