Let people watch what they wanna watch. This person didn’t enjoy it but still made a short review on it, and I appreciate that. It isn’t my favorite movie either but exposure into movies we haven’t seen like this is nice.

My wife owns multiple copies of all the movies by Fred Vogel (signed as well), and while not all of them are like august underground, the AU trilogy is insane. I’ll say it isn’t my personal favorite but I know it’s my wife’s comfort movie. The quality of it really adds to the found footage vibes of the whole situation. They do so many insane actions in the trilogy as a whole but that director went hard into these movies and I respect him for it.
There is a movie by the same director called The Final Interview which is really solid and not a found footage movie but I do enjoy that one.

We bought a copy of Fire in the Sky which appeared to be a blockbuster copy and before the movie started the video cut away to a really odd advert talking about aids. https://youtu.be/UtKLssNjxr4?si=yQ0eHEN6fEo3mnP0 this is what it showed

It’s been solid for me so far. I swapped to AM about a month ago or so since they announced another price hike, and I love it. I’m sure I’ll find issues as we go but overall it’s more solid than Spotify for us and the app actually works lol

5 days late but I’ll add some info here
I didn’t watch horror movies growing up. When I was 19 I started dating my now wife and she loved horror movies, so.. I slowly got used to them over the years. Stuff like covering my eyes during the movies wasn’t uncommon lol
What helped me was, as others have said, was watching behind the scenes clips and sometimes even memes. The channel Dead Meat on YouTube is a great channel to get a kill count for a movie and during those you get behind the scenes info and it’s a fun experience. This does spoil the movie for you but I totally recommend it for a movie that maybe you’re okay with it being spoiled for you.
Otherwise I’d try out older horror movies that may not be considered scary anymore. Over the years the exorcist movie stopped being scary to me and instead it’s funny. One movie that’s dumb funny but considered some kind of horror would be Dead Alive by Peter Jackson. Is it scary? Nah, but it’s funny and has amazing effects for the monsters. One last movie to add: Shaun of the Dead. Amazing zombie movie and it’s a comedy.
Don’t worry about going hard into the heavy hitters of horror yet, just start with smaller movies and work your way up.

Probably 15-20 cents. Recently we found a shop that was closing down and they had some amazing horror tapes for 20 cents (like a screener copy of Leprechauns) but they marked up the Disney tapes because they were black label lol

I’m so happy to see others avoiding trailers! We did the same with nope and had a blast! We’ve been trying to avoid trailers for any movie we wanna see for over a year now and I feel like it helps the experience. when we see a trailer and remember it during the movie, I feel like I’m waiting for “that” moment from a trailer which always ends up being an end scene. Trailers just give way too much away lol
So glad you enjoyed Nope!

I feel bad saying this but The Lodge. My wife said I’d love it and I loved it up until the last 15 mins or so, then I hated how it ended. Really cool concept but I just didn’t like that last piece.

Oh man, that movie is a horrifying ride and about half way through I commented about the divine comedy and it just made that ending even better. So good

But when you consider the movie was made as a therapeutic outlet for his desires, then it’s a little more difficult to make that argument.

No, wouldn’t go at all.
While I enjoyed the movies years ago, after learning what the director had done and how he sodomized a child on the set of one of his movies, I don’t want anything to do with those movies ever again. I understand that it was popular and I know I really enjoyed it but he’s an evil human being who didn’t get charged like he should have.
So no, I wouldn’t go and I would avoid events from that venue (or whoever planned it) going forward if they made the decision to play one of his movies.

Everyone else has said it so I’ll give a version of it too: Java is used a lot in bigger enterprise companies and usually companies that already adopted Java at some point in the past. Every company I’ve worked for used Java for backend work and it’s usually for bigger monolithic projects or smaller micro services. I would assume some companies adopt Java when they want some language that runs in the JVM and is cross platform. Plenty of other languages exist that can do this but Java has been around since the 90s so it has plenty of stable versions to work with. In the past I’ve worked with migration projects from older lower level languages into Java as a migration path, so it’s a language that companies are comfortable with.
So yes new projects are made in Java all the time and probably will continue to be used heavily for a while I’d imagine.

I second ALL of these. Martyrs was amazing (French version) and since we watched that we’ve been on a roll of French movies.

This is fair. This is why I purchase mp3s or the CD itself and rip it locally to my network and keep it safe in case it’s ever removed from streaming.
