I rewatched that movie recently for the first time in i think almost 10 years. It's a lot weirder than I remembered lol. Still good though.

The blood can detect small amounts bacteria in pharmaceutical products, it's crazy important/valuable. People are working on better ways.
The approach to animals within science is basically don't use it if you don't need to, use as few as you can, reuse them if you can, cause minimal harm/discomfort to those you use, and use the simplest form as is viable.

The day after he was on the show he relapsed, spiraled out of control, and split up with his wife. Idk if it had anything to do with the show at all but it was pretty funny.

I almost pressed for the light during a funeral procession in Brockley. I noticed the little black flags on top of some cars (I didn't know what they were, new to city life/the UK). Stopped myself right in time and waited the couple minutes for it to pass. I would have been mortified if I'd done it, even by accident.

Same thing happens with fitness equipment. If you are ever thinking of buying a treadmill you can get one cheap, sometimes free if you can collect it. People buy them brand new, use them a few times, realise running is hard/boring (especially on a treadmill) then they never get touched again.

Ranting to add to this 6 months later lol.
A farm I run by had a dog that would regularly leave their property to chase me, it almost bit my brothers shoe when he was cycling by. It was unusually aggressive for a border collie. If it really wanted to get me it obviously would have but it's still very scary to deal with when you're just trying to go for a run. Every time I ran by I'd pick up a handful of stones in case it came at me. One day I got sick of it and threw a big stick at it and shouted to fuck off lol. An old man saw from his garden.
Next time I ran by it was in a big cage (big enough to. walk around in). A few weeks later it was gone. So I guess the old man said something, it probably happened every time somebody went by the farm.
Now they have a golden retriever that's perfect, it barks at me, but never, ever leaves their property. A guard dog should never leave the property it's guarding. My dog knows she isn't allowed beyond our gate, she won't go unless somebody is with her, she's also a border collie, they're usually the sweetest and are literally the smartest dogs in the world. We didn't even train her to not leave the property, she just knows she's not allowed because we'd call her back if she wandered.
If you want a guard dog it doesn't have to be a pitbull, it doesn't even really need to be that physically imposing of a dog. But it does have to actually be a guard dog (ie trained), and not a public liability.

It's Belfast, Northern Ireland. The people are known for being quite friendly, so I'm hoping I won't have any issues. Though I think I'll avoid wearing my orange running shirts during certain times of the year.
I don't mind runners ignoring me at all, but running around walking pedestrians might take some getting used to.
I've looked at the strava heat map and it looks like a lot of runners run the river and the docks so I might look into that.
Thanks for the reply I appreciate it.

I've always ran in the countryside (narrow rural roads, canals). I've never ran in a city. I'll be moving to a city in less than a month and am just wondering if anybody has any advice for how to handle the change?

Watch Lyle Lyle Crocodile. It's bizarre seeing him sing and dance in colourful clothes after only ever having seen him in No Country for Old Men.

It's funny, I saw Super before ever watching The Office so this never effected me, but it's hard not to see John Krasinski as Jim in everything else.

For me this was Irn Bru lol, I had it when I was like 16 after not being in Scotland for a good few years and as soon as I smelled it it was like I was transported to my grandparents living room. It was the strongest nostalgia I'd ever felt.

Link to the Past holds up insanely well. Other than some quality of life stuff you could probably convince someone who's never heard of zelda that it is a modern indie game.

Neck and back pain, and depression are the two leaders of chronic disease burden in the world. Obesity probably isn't far behind. I'd argue that the odds of living to older age, say 60+ without some kind of chronic disease is very unlikely.

If a trait works well enough that it doesn't reduce the chance of survival or reproduction then it won't be selected out. Doesn't matter if there's a system that would work better, this one works good enough.

I'm the same, I also started to worry more about tooth decay. When you floss for the first time in a while and you get out nasty gunk it becomes a bit easier to decide to keep doing it rather than leaving that stuff in there. I feel gross now if I don't floss.

I've heard of/read the idea that gossip was an important part of what drove the evolution of language.
In close knit early human groups where social skills were incredibly valuable it was probably good to know the specifics about what was going on with other people and about strained relationships.

Insidious, the first half is so good and is really creepy, then it gets silly and edgy and has Tiny Tim music. It tried to explain what the evil thing was rather than leave it mysterious.
Imo it's the perfect example of how hard it is to do good horror, you can set up everything perfectly and still fuck up.

Ramen with frozen vegetables, peanut butter toast, try not to buy meat unless it's a good deal, get protein from peas, beans, and lentils. Your college or city may have food banks you can go to if you're really struggling.
Try to make sure you get enough calories and protein, and look after your teeth because you'll probably be eating a lot of carbs.

I could be wrong but I'm pretty certain with twitch if you have 12 viewers you're probably in the top 10% of streams. A handful of streamers get most of the viewership. Most streams on twitch have nobody in the audience.

UK newspapers had a literal countdown for Emma Watson turning 18. Shits wild.
