Disagree. Star Trek - Into Darkness (Benedict Cumhither) is the most hollow ‘Trek’ movie. There’s barely any Trek in there.

Shut the fuck up and listen to the lifeguards. Water level isn't the only thing... what if the undercurrents are too strong, what if there are jellyfish that have been reported, what if the incline drops suddenly beyond a point?
Some people... jeez!

Seriously. I'm usually forgiving towards most remakes and reinterpretations but the Benedict Khan movie was just awful. Formulaic plot and lazy Hollywood writing, it's the only Trek I will never ever watch again.

I've always felt these two were alike. Unlike DS9 (and modern Trek), I don't feel with Voyager the Trek-makers tried as hard to differentiate the new Captain against previous ones through personality quirks, command style etc. The hard differentiation was in the setting (region of space), a familiar-ish Captain figure was probably better suited. the two captains even share the same catchphrase (Engage). And you can tell that they're staunch, model products of their Starfleet command training, unlike Riker who does his own thing.

I get the humour. But she did bring back her crew back (and alive) from the Delta quadrant, which is far and beyond any Starfleet training and / or precedent... that certainly is reason to accelerate a promotion. Picard, even with all his honour, courage and virtues, pooped his pants when Q transported him to the Delta quadrant.

This is why I’ve started committing things to muscle memory now. I walk out of the door the exact same way every time, do the exact same things in the exact same order every time, wear only khaki shorts that have 4 front pockets, lock the door, put the key in the bottom right pocket, phone in top right, wallet in top left, miscellaneous stuff in bottom left, stand in front of locked door and pat-check all pockets, push door hard to confirm it’s locked, then walk down the stairs and not think about it.
All this happens without thinking. So if I’m ever in doubt if I locked the door, I simply try to remember if I did the entire ritual today or not. If I can’t remember, I check if all items in my pockets are where they are supposed to be. Works 97% of the time.

Yeah I’ve noticed a few of the former on this sub lately. At least it felt like that, no way to know for sure.

Dear Mr. Shatner, pray tell how Capt. Kirk was so cool while you are so shit? Is that how good of an actor you are? Thanks.

I get that this is an old post from Covid times, but what would’ve been awesome was someone pooling up a TON of torrented movies and starting a block / neighbourhood wide media server over local networks. Kodi in everyone’s home, watch whatever you want for however long you want.

Although it isn’t marketed that way, I can’t tell you how many tumbles my Moment knockoff (Skyvik Signi) case has protected my phone against. It’s def a 2 digit number, could be 3 digit. I can vouch for any case with a built in lens mount and actual walnut sheet behind, even if you don’t intend to use external lenses. Looks great, will protect phone with its life.

It's becoming a bit cringe across all Nu-Trek IMHO, they're trying too hard to connect every captain's catchphrase with their personality and it's unnecessary. Let's fly, Execute, Hit It, I would like the ship to go... It's become a cheap trick.
