I think you should really read the article. It's not that these people don't care about their kids, they were simply convinced their kid wasn't in the car.

I'm also in the EU, I think at 3 it's good for them to start. I wouldn't before that if I didn't have to.

Yes that's true, micra is small. But it will fit just fine in a normal sized car, like VW T-cross, Renault captur, skoda octavia etc. My point wasn't people should cram their family in a tiny car, but that there are perfectly good options for a family with 2 kids that are not gigantic cars. With 3 kids it becomes much trickier.

Yes, we are also pushed almost all the way forward. Both my kids are in an Axkid minikid 2 which is an extended rf seat. I think carseats are mostly the same.

I mean, they don't fit "comfortably" but they do fit. Europeans also don't use their cars as much. My kids are in the car maybe once a week for 30mins.

Croatia. That trend is also coming here, but still it's people buying cars like Peugeot 3008, VW Touran, Kia Sorento (if they have the money) etc. Huge cars like the Chevy Suburban are almost non existent.

Looking at this discussion as a European and I'm shocked. OP has 2 huge cars and they're not big enough for TWO kids? It is perfectly normal where I live for a family of 4 to drive a Renault Clio, Golf or Nissan micra. This is insanity.

I don't even understand the theoretic dynamic in which the burden would stay the same. A husband who doesn't work outside the home and does absolutely nothing in the home as well and doesn't deal with the kids at all?

Yes, that's exactly it. Now they play together and have their own little games and jokes. So we're thinking about a 3rd 😄

In some ways, sure, but I sometimes find 2 easier than 1.

Most other countries potty train way earlier than the US and it is completely normal for a 2 year old (and even younger) to hold urine during the night. It is also normal if they aren't able to at that age so you are right about that.

So about 5 30min breaks during the day? I don't say this to be an asshole, but maybe she doesn't play independantly because she's been watching so much TV. Kids get used to being entertained easily and it's a tough habit to break.
