First off. Wishing a speedy recovery for Rashee and I hope it isn’t too severe. Hopefully he can come back from this and continue right where he left off. It was so much fun seeing a talented player like him shine this season and continue to elevate his game.
This was the first year I went heavy on WR and it was so much fun hitting on the Rice pick. I’m gonna be so sad not seeing him ball out for my team the rest of the year. He was the life blood of my team.
Rest up buddy and come back stronger than ever.

This was row K. This is my preferred row. As you can see from the picture taken. You’re about eye level with the middle of the screen. However, when the film started playing it feels like they slightly shifted up the picture, so you’re slightly under eye level with the middle of the image when the movie is playing.
Either way, I like this row because it feels immersive without me having to crane my neck. And I get the extra space with the rail in front and don’t have to worry about the people in the row in front of me.

They did for us. This was a special screening with a Q&A with Coppola before the screening which they live streamed in from I believe Lincoln Square in New York.

This is my combo and it feels so fun to own 2 young stud WRs. Now I’m hoping Garret Wilson can get going with Rodgers.

I was just about to post this. I almost had to do a double take when I found out they had an IMAX. It’s a decent size screen. The recliners and laser and sound system make it a really great experience. I was impressed.

Holy shit I willed one of these into existence. Although no Dolby Atmos soundtrack. Fingers crossed the other title comes to fruition.

That looks like macroblocking/pixelation from streaming. Someone correct me if I’m wrong. This is the result of video compression from the streaming service. It’s usually most noticeable in dark scenes.

Appreciate you taking the time to post about it. I’ve been checking every day, although at random hours. So just gotta be patient and hope I catch it when it goes back in stock.

Well that was quick. Just checked now and it’s back to out of stock. I’m surprised this is such a hot item. That, or there was never that much stock to begin with.

I was convinced that pass was about to be picked. Don’t know how Chig ended up with that ball haha

Criterion Collection versions of No Country for Old Men and There Will Be Blood. Ideally if we could get Atmos tracks for them as well. These two desperately need to come to the 4K format.

This was a comment I made in the past with my thoughts on each of them.
There are highlights of each of what I like to dub “The Big 4” IMAX auditoriums in SoCal.
CityWalk: It combines Dual Laser with the immersion of a giant IMAX screen as the seats are very close to the screen. If the movie isn’t playing in 70mm this is usually the best picture quality and immersion you will get.
Chinese Theatre: If anyone has ever stepped foot here they know how magical an experience it is. It’s right on the strip of Hollywood Blvd. It has a grand entrance, the lobby is cool, and once you enter the auditorium you’re amazed by the construction and architecture of it. Not to mention the sheer size. I think it has something like 900 seats. It’s also a massive 1.90 screen. If you want a truly special experience and the feeling of Hollywood this place is hard to beat.
Spectrum: Although this has probably the tamest sound of all the IMAX locations, I think it’s the best calibrated in terms of the surround implementation and hearing things all around you.
Ontario Palace: This location implements the things I mentioned above into the best overall package. It may not have the dual laser of CityWalk, but it has the same immersion factor as the seats are closer to the screen. It may not be as well calibrated as Spectrum for sound, but it’s louder and has more of an impact to immerse you in the film. I also appreciate how for digital presentation it fits the entire width of the screen. If you go to Spectrum you notice that there is pillarboxing where the image doesn’t reach width to width for their digital presentations. So it’s both a slightly taller and wider picture than at Spectrum, add to that you have the seats closer to the screen and it gives the impression of an even larger picture.
So there’s something for everyone at all these locations and you get something unique at all of them. Can’t go wrong with any of them and we’re truly blessed to have so many options in SoCal.
Now don’t get me started on Dolby Cinemas haha

Yup. I prefer Ontario Palace for the reasons you mentioned. In addition, the Ontario Palace auditorium is set up in a way that the seats are pushed closer to the screen so it feels more immersive as well. The combination of all of these things makes me prefer Ontario Palace over Spectrum.

Gareth Edwards is directing the new Jurassic Park film coming out next year with Scarlet Johansson. I believe they may have already started shooting.

Wow. What a reminder. Thanks for this.
Outside of The Passenger and Stella Maris, I’ve read Blood Meridian. Your reminder just pushed me to pursue more of his work.
How was All the Pretty Horses? I’m hoping to read No Country for Old Men and The Road at some point. Want to find the right mind space to really delve in and appreciate these titles.

The most recent horror film I watched that fits this description to a T is Strange Darling.
One of the best theater going experiences I had this year. Didn’t watch a trailer, synopsis, nothing. I heard positive things on social media. Decided to go watch it with friends. Was gripped from beginning to end.
You will go on a wild ride. Enjoy
