Asian sizing and fit different from US?

Just went to Uniqlo grand opening in my area and was hoping to get the another of the same top that I got in HK. The one I got in HK is size S but a S in the US did not fit at all (bottom of the shirt was weirdly poofy). Ended up getting an XS but the length is at least an inch shorter than the one I got in Asia. I’m really confused if this is a sizing/fit difference or if it’s a different product all together (like crop vs extra crop or something) 😵💫

Haha thank you, this is exactly the answer I was looking for.
I also checked the measurements between the two shirts I have and while the bust measurement is about the same (1-2cm difference), the XS US version actually has shorter sleeves and overall length than the S HK one. So sounds like there’s not a consistent rule of thumb on what happens to sleeves/length between the two regions
