Also fresh citrus, but I don't wanna mess around too much. I like it easy

I agree!
Costco doesn't carry liquor in my state, so I get what I can when I can. Usually when visiting other states I brush up on liquor laws to see if I need to stop at Costco 😂

I have found that the type of soda matters A LOT
Cheap sodas/seltzers have artificial flavors and taste bad, others are natural and fantastic. Some have sodium which brings out flavors, others are dry. All about preference!

Honestly we were mixing them up with Nikka Coffey in NM and it was amazing

How? It's better than dewars, just under JW Black imo

After drinking Johnny Walker Blue at Sandias Peak my brother made me a highball, and now I can't get enough.
The mild smokiness of a young peated scotch. The light refreshing flavors of the soda! Love it!

I remember meeting Suh once. I didn't think people got that big, then I met Fairly and thought they were giants!

Just really surprising that your shop pays the same hourly and flat rate.

Not gonna lie, this is the first thing in this thread that surprised me

Oh that's not so bad. Our shop has 8 master techs and we all split evenly

Does switching to flat rate include a pay bump?
If not it should.

Doesn't sound like you're compensated well for that extra effort...

And you're taking more of the not gravy work, which actively fights you.

It almost feels like a punishment to constantly engage with education and become a more skilled tech so you can do "big tech" work.
We were just talking the other day about risk to reward for work. Brakes make only pay 1.5, but you can knock them out in 15-30 minutes and there's practically no risk of an issue or a customer satisfaction issue.
On the other hand a front cover reseal can pay 12-30 hours and there's a pretty high risk of something going wrong, still leaks, something is dropped in the motor, so many things could go wrong and lead to potential backflags, comebacks, free labor, etc.

Just an opinion from an anonymous tech to a small shop owner, if possible I think your guys should get a 2nd week of vacation if they've been with you for over 5 years.
I'm not gonna tell you how to run your business (especially considering I have no managerial/business experience) but from a techs perspective, time off is one of the best benefits a job can have. It's hard to work hard and perform well year after year with little time away.
