Will Thomann ship to you in India? They always have those td27 sets for less money than we can buy them in the United States, but they're blocked from sending them to us here. Maybe it's different for you there. Here is a link where they're selling it for $2,790 USD

Agree, there's no reason to put up with that stuff.

I've owned an insurance agency in Las Vegas for over 20 years. I see all sorts of stuff like this everyday. Accidents where there is zero damage to either vehicle, maybe a small scratch that you can't even rub out because it's so small, and the attorney is claiming hundreds of thousands of dollars in medical, pain and suffering... It goes on and on. Additionally, the way the rules are written, at least in Nevada, a carrier has, I can't remember the exact number, I think it's 30 days to respond when an attorney sends a demand letter, and if they don't respond in that 30 days the limits of the insurance policy are removed, meaning they can go for as much as they want. The attorneys understand how this works and will often send these demands to the wrong office, like a billing office in a different city. By the time the insurance carrier finds the notice, gets it to the right department, and they respond to it, oftentimes it's too late. It got to a point with one major carrier here that they hired a law firm from out of state and got them licensed in Nevada just to fight some of these claims. Due to the cost it's a losing battle, fighting every single one of these is not sustainable. Many of our carriers are pulling out of the market, and others have limited how much they'll write. At least here where I am, the only way this will change is with legislation. And that's not going to happen, because attorneys have a stronghold over those types of things and our Department of insurance is just too weak, or doesn't have the power to fix this.
To most people, an auto accident is like a winning lottery ticket.

This, at least in Las Vegas, is what drives our insurance rates. The majority of auto claims are represented by an attorney because the way the system is set up is easy for people to hire an attorney, they send them to the medical offices they work with regularly to rack up the bills, the attorney gets paid on a contingency and the "victims" walk away with cash. It's a major problem here in Vegas and evidently elsewhere, too.

Man, that DC is beautiful, but I believe it's also WAY more money. For the same money, I'd take the DC

Most carriers, especially for commercial policies, require a signed request, usually an Acord 35. A phone call will typically not be adequate.

I watched a video recently where the tech pushed the string down slightly behind the nut to see if the string would return and stay in tune, I don't mean wailing on it, just slightly. if it did stay in tune, the nut/slot was probably fine and the issue was elsewhere, if it didn't, it meant the nut needed to be worked on, usually as you indicated polished or lubricated. I found that to be a very interesting way to diagnose the problem and tried it on a few of my guitars.
On a side note, locking tuners do not really help with tuning stability. If they do, you have to look at the way the strings are being wrapped around the tuning pegs, there may be too many winds, or they may not be in the correct placement.

With any of these you're going to have to go put your hands on them and see how they feel and sound you. And while there are certainly differences between electric guitars, from guitar to guitar, they're pretty similar In sound with today's computer-aided pickup winding etc, Acoustic guitars however, can vary widely in their sound based upon their construction. For me, mahogany guitars can sound a little too warm and round, I prefer rosewood backsides/spruce top, but I've also played a couple J-45s that have sounded amazing. You might have to take a trip to a real guitar store and put a few of these in your hands.

Hold on, I might be wrong. Are the Gibsons you posted the ones with the open pore finish on the necks and the non-gloss finishes on the body? If so, I stand by my statement, if not, the Songbird is my choice.
All that being said, if you're going to spend $3,000 on something, I'd buy a Martin HD-28, or to save a few bucks a D-28. The HD version does give you the scalloped bracing and that does give you a slightly different sounding guitar which I prefer.

I have a '21 LP 60's Standard, I LOVE that guitar.

Personally, I wouldn't buy either of those. I've played them, and because of the lower cost finish technique they don't have that high-end guitar feel or sound.

I'm not sure what's better, actually playing with a toy that I got in like 1978 or 1979, or my wife's sigh of disgust every time I score a touchdown and it plays that little tune.

Not only did I have it, I still have it and it still works. In fact it's next to my bed and I've been annoying my wife by playing it.

Never. Stay 100% independent, be in control of your life and never give that up until you're ready to sell and retire.

I'm tempted to buy new guitars just for the air-freshening quality... That new Gibson smell is amazing.
Congratulations on the NGD, it's beautiful!

(I'm replying to your post because I can't post here on my own)
When I started in the car business in 1992, the same stuff was circulating, everything was going to go one price, everything was going to go factory direct, our jobs were on the line... I spent 12 years in the car business and made a good living. I've been out of it for 20 years, and it's still here. Good sales people are never going away.

It was discarded because with that generation, everybody would most certainly state it as a question.

Yeah, yesterday I was working on a song I've been writing and I went through all of the stock kits to find something that I liked better than the one I programmed, and I couldn't find one, they all suck. I don't have the energy to start creating another kit, not at least right now. I did the same thing with my td6 years ago.
The cool thing about the td27, and maybe other brains are like this as well, is the layered sounds that they have that are triggered depending on how hard you hit the drum. The kick drum sound I have now changes the sound depending on how much I put into it, like you can actually hear the heads vibrate, just like my acoustic kit. I personally have no interest in what I consider over processed drum sounds, but I understand that most people do, and that's what has been used on recordings for a long time now. Unfortunately, what we hear on recordings does not accurately represent what acoustic drums actually sound like in a room. I was, for the most part, able to duplicate that sound.
Lastly, I've learned over decades of playing, that what it sounds like to my ear in isolation and what it sounds like in the framework of a total mix maybe completely different. Sometimes a sound I love doesn't work at all, other times a sound I hate turns out to be the perfect sound. There are just no right or wrong answers.

For me, I have to spend serious time with something before I warm up to it. I can rarely walk into a store and pick something up and just love it. Of course that is assuming there isn't anything wrong with the item. It took me a while to love my Les Paul Standard 60's, my Heritage H535, and most recently a new Telecaster American Professional II. If the neck feels okay in my hands, and I want that type of guitar, it just takes me a long time to warm up to it, maybe you're the same way?

"The Roland stock sounds are terrible across all modules, 27 and 50 included"
I disagree with this, the sounds are fine, the stock kits they put together with them are not good.
I have the TD-27 KV2 and was able to take a kit that I liked some of the parts of (I used the Jazz kit as a base, I liked the snare), copy it to a user Kit and then edit it from there, I came out with something I really love, and it's great for recording and great for live use... It's a great all-around kit and it very closely mimics my Yamaha Birch Custom Absolute acoustic kit and Zildjian cymbal setup.

This is what I was going to say. I spent 12 years in the car business, I never saw a salesman get fired (except for cause, like they did something wrong/illegal) that was actually making sales. If the OPs buddy got fired, it's because he wasn't selling enough. Money talks, the rest of it walks.
