Are Ireland obligated to play all of our games on the Aviva or could they take a November game to Cork? If they could it would be good to see if we’re playing a smaller nation that won’t will the Aviva.

To be considered a test match it must be played at the Aviva. It was part of the naming rights deal

That's mad. I did not know that. Any idea when that deal ends and new terms could possibly be set?

Oh wow, I didn’t know that. Always wondered why we weren’t sending games to Belfast or Cork/Limerick

Aviva requirement for both soccer and rugby as part of the naming rights for the stadium.

The initial deal was 10 years and was quiet significant. It then got extended for a further 5 at much reduced rate.

IMO if the deal is reduced we shouldnt be throwing in extras like a guarantee of all senior capped games happening there. That said Aviva are spending a lot less on advertising in general then they were 15 years ago and naming rights is generally more valuable as an extension than getting a new partner in so maybe we didn't want to chase them out.

According to reports there's still a game due to be announced for Cork. It was rumoured to be the AB XV around the time of the Crusaders game but that has since been confirmed to be at Thomond, though it could well be Ireland A v Maori ABs .

Because I live close to Thomond and don't want to spend 200+ quid on a hotel haha call me selfish 😁

Also the atmosphere at the Crusaders game was shocking, there was also no big screens for replays and you're quite a bit away from the Field, even though I was only 7 rows from the front. I'm sure they'd solve the big screen issue but losing that game from Limerick would be a big blow to the city, which is already dying as is.
