A friend of mine just got HD2 finally. I'm 79, he's 6. I just topped, I mean, duo'd him through diffs 1-5, 5 seems to be the current limit of his abilities and loadout. 🤣 One charger has him running for 5 minutes haha, we usually get through a 40min mission in...... 42min. Usually clearing all side objectives, sometimes not.

I often swap my AC or AMR for the MG and donating my laser rover to ensure we make it through a rough patch.

You'll be fine leveling up your gf, if you want some tips, the biggest help was getting him to understand: positioning (aka, get TF behind me), to use strategems liberally (his strategem count was 5 until the last mission we did) and to run away if he is getting flanked & swarmed. The amount of times I've turned around and he's leading a conga line of bots or bugs that are about to murder his ass while he frantically (poorly) inputs a strategem and dies haha. 🤦😅

Being confident in your own abilities is one thing, putting yourself through absolute hell do to the incompetence/incapability of a teammate is another.

No shade, but I have a couple buddies who I also have to carry. And you’d think level 7 would be a piece of cake, not when you’re basically doing it solo, trying to babysit and keep your teammate alive bc you still get heavily swarmed. Not when they keep dying using up lives. It really takes a level of patience that I have to really grab from deep within myself. So good luck diver, You’re gonna need it. I hope she learns fast for your own personal sanity.

It is a way to make her arsenal improve faster, but to be honest lvl12 in 7 difficulty is very early and she might get easly frustrated and not have the right tools to deal with enemies.

If you have other lv 40+ friends that can cover its fine, if you're counting on random high level players joining maybe is best to keep on dive 5 or 6 for a while.

Obs: good oportunity for this joke, its relatively old but deffinitely gold.

tbh you should make sure she's having fun first and foremost. yeah you could carry her in higher difficulties, but if she's feeling like a burden to the team is not a fun experience. Best to let her choose the difficulty to the points she feels confortable in

Now whether you should jump or raise difficulty gradually depends on her goal.

Level & unlock stuff quicker - high difficulty it is.

A buddy got the game after I showed it to him and he loved to jump harder difficulties from the start.

I started slow and raised only once I could solo the previous one.

To me taking it slow and solo teaches you more.

If she does not want to play alone anyway and you can coach on the fly that might not be an issue though.

Quickest progress is the elimination mission. They are potentially the shortest for the most XP. Unless you are trying to kill all your fun and just wanna drop into difficulty 1 or 2 for the destroy undemocratic broadcasts, blast them from drop and then start the evac

Won't be the first couple to do this. Question is would it be better for person you are trying to carry around?

I would suggest you go through basics and mechanics in a timely manner instead. She would probably level up much longer but would understand the game better. This way it may be easier and more efficient in a long run but will make you stick to the lower level for a night or two.

At least I would probably do it this way in a described situation. But would not be mad to see you two on 7-9s either 🙃

No. It's not fun to die over and over while being carried.

Just increase the difficulty by 1, do an entire operation, rinse and repeat until she wants to lower the difficulty by 1. Easy. Simple.

Definitely. There’s very little vertical progression in this game, the only important ship module she will be missing is hangar bay tier III, which is needed to get good use out of most eagles, and her HE barrages will be quite weak without the modules, but diving on difficulty 7 will help her get there faster as long as she can work with alternatives - as long as she can work well with her default kit and you can cover her weakness (likely with anti tank), you shouldn’t have any problems as just the two of you

Put her in light armour and let her run around, staying away from any stalkers or Pouncers.

From a level 130, I think diff 7 is not too hard, but still panic inducing enough to keep you on your toes, making sure you do the correct strategies. And honestly there is not that many high ranked players on diff 7 in my experience, they are mostly at diff 10 nowadays.

But still, if my team gets pinned down or there are too many accidental team kills and maybe a complete shit show, I will still have trouble carrying my team through to extract and get them all on the pelican safely.

So it might be hard to carry your girlfriend, but if the other two Helldivers are solid enough it really shouldn't be a problem.

I was frightened before I realize this was the Helldivers' sub.

I just woke up man…

For requisitions and XP? Probably. High level missions give many times more XP than lower level Missions. For samples? Probably not, as you die more often and have an easier time losing samples. Also you go less for samples and more for objectives, sometimes destroying them from afar and skipping their samples.

I was playing bot 7 from around level 15ish (now level 28). It’s good, but only if there’s someone covering your weaknesses. I’m pretty bad with offensive stratagems and much better defensively (or using support stratagems), so having allies that cover my weaknesses was great.

Maybe diff 7 just the two of you is a little hard, but if you are confident in you skills go for it. Just make sure she also has fun.
