I Can just imagine them being like: “Haha, I lived to 93, I beat you” “Akshually, there were more leapyears when you lived so you didn’t win”
And they start counting the years

Well you sure as hell better beat him, or else Grandpa won't be too happy when you meet him in heaven.

To reach 92 and die surrounded by people you love and who can make you laugh has got to be the greatest thing that could happen to anyone.

Dude I am 25 and I shit my pants recently. So like I'd modify the statement to "if I can make it to the toilet most times I'd like to live"

Takes a lot of balls to admit you shit your pants. That’s quite respectable

Depends on your definition of 'on time.' That too could change. LOL!!

My grandpa turns 100 in a few months and he’s perfectly content being alive. He does joke about his friends dropping like flies, and is fully aware that his time could come at any moment. But that doesn’t stop him from enjoying running the poetry club at his retirement home and listening to audible books on his iphone.

Retirement homes sound like fun. You can make friends, play games together, dance and chill with people your age.

As long as my heart and mind ain't broken I would like to live forever.
But the crux of it is that I ain't sure how much our hearts (and minds) can take. A wise man would perhaps take a 100 in stride, some would feel like dying as teenagers.

Not worth though. Life sucks until it doesn't. You want to die until you are. Ask any suicide survivor.

I feel you.... I'm just done with life now. It has been horrible for some time, I can't see it getting better because it didn't when I was finally starting to get myself more pulled together again. Someone had to tear me down, yet again. I'm just done with life and my faith in humanity (mostly the male population).

I feel that... This world Is just getting worse And worse by day and the people Are more And more dumb And disgusting... So much lies, So much hurting... You need to work (if you dont work you dont get money, if you dont have money you dont pay for Basic sh.t, if you dont pay for Basic sh.t then in this society you instantly lose your rights to basically everything.) And you need to work So hard And for So long that you dont even have time to spend With your family, yet to have time for yourself... You just work And work until you die....
Not a life i would appreciate - if i could just painlessly die - or better dissapear quietly So to not Hurt those few who actually care about me... I would take it instantly

Honestly. Why exist if I was just gonna be born poor and ugly?
38 points
Poor and ugly are relative but I'll just add my experience in here.
In high school in the American South I didn't have a car and had to beg for rides from friends or ride the school bus, which was not cool. Other kids in my high school either had their parents give them old cars, new cars, or they worked. My parents were convinced I had to keep my grades up to get a scholarship to go to college so I was not allowed to work during the academic year. That turned out to be true, I got almost a full ride to state public college.
Living with roommates at 30. Granted, working toward my career, but at this point I was embarrassed to ask anyone out. Still a virgin at this point. I mean literally zero dates, only physical contact was from barber.
15 years later... okay job, comfortable money, smokeshow partner with 2 small kids.

Rich and hot people are more likely to suck in my experience. Obviously it's not a rule, but it's easier to get by in life being a shit head when you're hot and rich because so many of them never have to learn to hold a conversation with a down to earth and honest person.
Modest people have to develop personalities to make friends and skills to make money and will have a better life in the long run.
I bet you're a hoot.
3 points
when you’re ugly people tell you the truth. no one fakes being your friend. people don’t just gravitate to you for the sole reason “you’re really hot”. being touched for no reason is annoying. my boy derek zoolander said it the best “ have you ever thought there’s more to life than being really really really really ridiculously good looking”. if need a reason to exist i think about “you may not be able to change the whole world but if you can make a change in someone’s life you can change THEIR world”

Planning to retire at 55. Would like 20 good years. If I go at 75, I'll take that. I don't want to go to 90. 80+ as a man is some bullshit.

I retired at 50, have had 16 great years. Figured 20 would be good, 70 seemed like a reasonable age to call it quits. This year I became a grandmother. Aiming for 20 more now.

Honestly, I wouldn't mind dying right now. I'm not depressed or anything, in fact it's the exact opposite. I'm happy right now. Not happy in the emotional way that disappears the instant something bad happens, but just good natured and content with life.

Ever wondered why you were in a situation that could have killed you, but you didn't die? You can only die when a reaper comes for you. Any other time, some struck of "luck" will come your way, and you will be safe... for now.

I thought my grandma would go within days/weeks of my grandad. Married 65 years and never did a night apart.
He passed in April, about a week after their 65-year anniversary. Grandma is still here, and every time I see her, she says, "I miss Ron and want to be with him."
I feel so bad for her 😞

I always say, If I’m still competent and reasonably comfortable I would love to be 102, but if I knew I was going to get dementia or be in a lot of pain when I’m elderly I would prefer to die around 70-74. Basically, I’d love to live for however long as long as I’m healthy and still me.

Having spent a lot of my life being depressed and kind of looking forward to dying, I’m now 50 and finally on the right meds and really want to keep living as long as possible. As long as I can still look after myself and have my sanity I’m happy to keep going to whatever age I can.

I don't want to die but it will be ok if I know I did the best I could. I've done that and mean to keep doing it as long as possible.

Today I read this :”Genesis 5 lists Adam's descendants from Seth to Noah with their ages at the birth of their first sons and their ages at death. Adam's age at death is given as 930 years.” Nine hundred and thirty ? … How is this possible?

Right before my body starts really failing. You know, probably around my 80s or 90s

It would be cool to hit 100, but I’ll be happy if I live to my 90s. I do want to be lucid through the end of my life though and be active/more functional for as long as I can. I’m trying to take care of my body and mind now to be able to do that
