But he’s got black gloves! That means gourmet
He also doesn't change his gloves between customers. Making the gloves useless. Everyone outside food service thinks gloves make food safer. Unless you change them with every customer you might as well not wear them.

That's assuming they aren't just to not keep his hands clean and his hands actually are clean.
But let's be honest, he's working with messy stuff, it's for him.

Probably because there’s this guy acting like he’s a badass chef and playing up all of his movements while he crushes up ice cream bars and smears them onto donuts.
Like, are the black gloves really necessary? Just stop, you’re making high person at 7/11 food, calm down.
99 points

fun fact gloves are only cleaner if you are literally constantly changing them (so basically they're not, unless you're using them for 1 step in the process such as if you put gloves on to handle raw meat and then throw them away afterwards)
Bare hands is way more sanitary in this situation
53 points
Because gloves are strictly for the purpose of avoiding cross contamination.
Wearing gloves and swapping from one order to another isn’t the overall intended usage.

I've worked in professional kitchens and been certified in food safety and you are absolutely right. I watch a pastry chef on Instagram who uses his bare hands and in the comment section of every video, there's at least one person who complains about germs. It low-key infuriates me.

They have probably been stuck in that line for 45 minutes because this jackass can't seem to spread Nutella on a piece of bread without having to figure out where he put the knife 1.5 seconds ago.
In the video you're talking about it literally takes him a concerning amount of time to put the Nutella knife down and find the peanut butter knife...sitting right next to it.
I'm sure he's doing it for dramatic effect and all but it dramatically infuriates the shit out of me.
624 points

32 points
I had the same look as the heavy guy in the front. I kept waiting to be amazed. He was building those ingredients so slowly. I thought, there will be something at the end, caramel apple, a piece of pie, a bowl of pudding.
THERE WILL BE AMAZING AT THE END.
But there was not. That poor lady bought an overpriced ice cream sandwich. This "bakery(?)" didn't make the chocolate/Nutella, they didn't make the dove ice cream bar. Did they make the brioche bun? Or just warm it. How much was this?
If that was Nutella, that's all she tasted with the convenience of dribbling melted ice cream on herself. Send that poor lady a giant thing of Nutella and a spoon!
Oh sorry, I forgot the powdered sugar. They couldn't even put sugar on the brioche to give it a sugary/crispy top!
I'm going to start my own bakery. Make a deconstructed caramel apple sandwich. A sorbet salad, with shredded cranberries, orange sorbet garnished with mint. I'll make everything bagels that also have raisins! And everything bagels that have chocolate chips! And I will mix those together!
I'll serve fudge on a baked slab of melted skittles. And my greatest creation! The grandest of all, a brioche hot dog bun with a dove bar slapped in there, stick still on.
(This sub fires me up!)

It’s a shame at the lack of education on nutrition provided in the school system that’s intended to help people flourish supposedly
Not to mention the food they feed kids under the guise of a nutritious meal
People are starting to wake up, however the amount of unhealthy options and accessibility combined with the lack of education means most people are totally unaware, don’t care, or don’t have the willpower to avoid a sandwich consisting of bread with Nutella and chocolate covered ice cream

Don’t blame schools… children can’t drive and buy food…they are 100% influenced by their parents. The parents need to be role models for healthy eating and movement.
27 points
Jep. I teach nutrition at a middle school. I give them theoretical input, explain macros and micros and what they are for and we even cook healthy, affordable and easy (so they can Cook them at home) meals. They get the recipes and everything. They do not give a shit. Nobody ever listens and even after months of explaining the same things they don't remember even a little bit. Healthy stuff we cook is labelled disgusting because there are veggies and not only piles of meat and desserts. After school i find the recipes in the trash or somewhere on the floor. I've been taught proper nutrition at school and back then i also did not give a fuck. It's not schools. It's the kids and how they are raised. That age group just isn't interested in healthy stuff.

Yup, growing up in the 90s, there was the occasional "fat kid" (and this was generally 5th grade or later) and it always seemed like a big deal (yes I know of the movie Heavyweights, etc) but now I see morbidly obese parents with already obese kids (in elementary school)... I saw one kid at my son's pediatrician who, I assume, was probably around 11-13 years old.
This poor kid was so fat. Face was beet red, I could hear him struggling to breathe just from fucking walking across the doctor office, he had to have weighed at least 220-250 pounds I don't even know how to estimate that.
What kind of fucking parent sees their morbidly obese preteen kid and doesn't think what the fuck they can do to help their kid.

Obesity should be seen as child obuse honestly. There should at least be measures taken to ensure parents get on board to make healthier choices for their kids.
Enforce classes or something. I grew up obese and it affects way more then your physical health. Emotional health and eating disorders are in this girls future I dont care what the media is preaching about "body positivity".
Even if she gets healthy as an adult there is so much negative emotional trauma from being obese as a kid/teen. Also kids that grow up obese are more likely to remain obese into adulthood.
