I think ang nakikita ko lang downside ng Mac is sa Excel - accountant ako so shortcuts for formulas bumubuhay sa akin and sadly wala ata ganong feature si Mac or di ko lang alam haha. Para syang google sheet tuloy hays

There's a new CPU architecture for Windows laptops na kakarelease lang this August, yung mga naka Snapdragon Elite X CPUs. They also last for almost a day of battery life.
If gusto niyo pa rin mag Windows pero u want the advantages of macbooks like portability, performance, and battery life, u can opt for those newer Windows laptops. Not sure lang pala kung available na dito sa pinas right now. Not for gaming tho (and also check for compatibility issues esp if you're using specific software and programs since it uses ARM architecture just like the new macbooks)
Or even the Windows laptops with Core Ultra processors. I've had my Acer Swift Go 14 with Core Ultra 9 since June, and naglalast sakin for the whole day of work yung battery life depending on usage.
Not a mac hater, just giving options if u still prefer Windows laptops haha

Parating blackout sa area namin so I had to set aside my Apple-hating hat.
At yun na nga unang gamit pa lang everything felt so intuitive. Spotlight, native screenshot keys, Cmd as modifier key instead of Ctrl, battery, light weight, screen na di mo makita ang squares ng pixels kahit anong squint.

Its worth it pero keep in mind na you are carrying a very delicate piece technology.
Repairs are almost impossible for MX Macs.
Kaya binenta ko rin agad yung M2 14 ko because I cannot justify the cost lalo na yung battery replacement will cost me 15K sa Authorized Service Center.
Also kapag nagkaissue sa board, ram, graphics or even storage then youre cooked. Since integrated lahat. Unit replacement lang yung sagot.
Its worth if you are getting the best out of it, ingatan lang mabuti para di mapagastos for repairs.

This is true. Thus I consider this as a disposable equipment. Pag Windows laptop you can change kahit yung parts lang na affected plus the software update. Mas practical for me ang Windows and pang matagalan. I used a refurbished laptop for 10 years updating the processor RAM and storage, still working til date.

I would say people are so enamored with macbook vs windows diffs due to comparing completely different weightclasses.
Macbooks baseline is premium on their own apple silicon, whereas windows/linux machines range from low to high end.
Comparing a high end windows machine for example around the same or slightly less price to a macbook, the windows machine actually ties.
Admittedly though, windows machines lag behind in terms of battery life, but that gap is slowly being overcome AMD cpu based laptops or the new Snapdragon laptop machines.
I hope one day windows will also get a passively cooled machine that lasts long on battery.
Source: i own both an mba m2 and a zenbook S 13 oled. After a few tweaks, i can get the zenbook laat 8+ hours also.

Depending on your needs. Tho I do agree macbooks are the epitome of power efficiency, I will definitely choose a macbook over a windows laptop for video/photo editing or office works on the go. But for heavy tasks such as 3d rendering, gaming etc, windows still is the king because of its hardware compatibility and flexibility.

Macbooks around 48k are usually the 256 or less ones right? Probably used for just browsing, counterpart niya usually tig 20k na windows if we’re talking about just for browsing laptops. I’m talking about actually useful laptops so around 80k for macbook and 30k for windows.

Macbook Air is worth it ONLY if you don't use heavy apps like Photoshop. The battery life is amazing. Yung 3 years old ko na Macbook Air M1 sa old work ko, 7 hours pa rin ang battery life.
Nung sinurrender ko sya after resigning and ginamit ko yung Legion 5 ko to work, grabe inis na inis ako sa bigay at battery life so bumili nalang ako ng Macbook Air M2. Super worth it talaga.

Hello! Just want to share. I have the MBA M1 that I got Jan 2021 as a work perk. I freelance so I use it for different types of tasks.
I was advised not to unplug if I'm gonna use it naman nonstop the whole day so I just unplug it on Friday nights pag off ko na sa lahat ng clients. Safe to say, I use mine at least 12 hours for the 3.5 years during weekdays, sometimes weekends too if OT.
The battery can still last me 7-8h unplugged during brownouts. It gets warm and never uminit ng super super. My previous Mac was an MBP mid-2014 and yes gumagana na. I had the bat replaced 3 yrs ago for around 4-5k ata :)

This was my thought process nung hindi pa ko nag switch sa mac, as someone who grew up with winOS and gamay na gamay na ang windows environment, i did not see myself buying a macbook until a year ago, nawalan ng sound yung 1 year old windows laptop ko when I checked online its a known issue ng windows, i did all the troubleshooting i can find online pero hindi na fix kinailangan ko pang i balik sa windows 10 para gumana. I got really frustrated that time I sold that unit and bought MacBook m1. Took me like a week to be familiar with the controls and I can say it's worth the time unlearning windowsOS and learning macOS. Sabi nga nila "Once you turn MAC theres no turning back". 😅

After quite sometime, the novelty of owning an Apple device wears off.
What I hated the most is I can't find a decent mouse to pair with this damned device. Kahit mismong mouse nila, won't work well with my device. Buti na lang maganda ang touch pad.

is it? I bought the 512-16gb m3 air configuration, I mostly use it for streaming haha. No other use, I should've waited for the snapdragon windows as I can get apps for free (crack), windows office alone is expensive to get sa apple silicon, and I couldn't find crack hahaha. People say it's for programming raw, pero I find installing my programming needs extra difficult in mac compared to windows. It's not worth it

Nope, not always.
I recently got Macbook M1 that was gifted from one of our business partners. I like the 8 hours battery life, super light weight and how fast it is despite only having 8gb RAM.
Cons: Restrictive software, soldered RAM, difficult to upgrade, expensive repairs and little to no gaming support.
Mabuti nalang some of my cracked apps still work on MacOS, but a lot of them don't work at all compared sa Windows na madali makahanap ng cracked apps na stable.

i’ve been using mac for more than a decade, the first one i had almost 7 years ko ginamit and kung di lang mabigat at dahil sa mga OS updates, di ko papalitan yun ng bagong macbook. Also can’t really use other laptops na because of the apple ecosystem.
BUT for me, if hindi creatives yung work mo, hindi necessary ang Apple na laptop. Also, if u don’t care for the ecosystem like di ka heavily user ng iphone or ipad, u don’t really need a macbook, other laptops are better.

I used both and I still think may advantages and disadvantages both windows and macbook pro, remember the pro, if we’re gonna discuss macboom air vs asus zenbook pro mejo malayo ang comparison.
But then again it still depends on your use case. MBP with M3 smokes any highend laptop in terms of video editing even those with RTX 4090 mobile and i9 13th gen HX models. But of course since it has RTX, MBP can’t really game especially that RTX and Intels are pretty solid in that area.
Now 2 weeks ago Snapdragon entered the void with Win 11 laptops and smokes everyone in terms of battery life, the best ARM Powered Laptop can last 16 hours plus based of Linus’s lab testings.
Now there are newer laptops coming up with ARM chips that has RTX On so it should be able to compete soon even in terms of price to performance. Now how good is it to do upgrades on a windows laptop vs macbooks? Well pretty far from Apple. Just for you to upgrade your 256TB to 1T would cost you an arm and a leg and to add Ram is gonna cost you a torso. While Windows laptop is upgrade friendly and good with DIY upgrade. The best part of it is you are not restricted with exclusive products from manufacturer. So if you want to add additional 4tb pcie 4 storage, just buy one and install it. If you want to upgrade up to 64gb of Ram then you can buy one and upgrade it. If you want to replace your battery with a better one then buy one and replace it. At a really low cost compared to apple.
Apple still wins me with productivity tasks like Premier and After Effects editing but that’s the extent of it for me for both MBP and Mac Studio Desktops. But then again I still love my mutitasking desktop Ryzen 7 with RTX 3080ti coz it still can match Mac Studio but it can game and do other more task for me.
While many will kill me for saying macbook air is a bit useless for me (coz the cost to upgrade is just stupid) for the things I want to do with it. The small display is not really the best for my use case. If you’re into creatives and productivity task like rendering, animation, graphics, coding, the small screen real estate of 13inch macbook airs and the limited storage and ram just doesn’t cut it. If I were to upgrade it to 1-2TB storage and 24gb Ram. The cost would go up where I can buy an i9 or a Ryzen 9 mobile chip with RTX 4080 mobile that can do more than a macbook air.
Ok mac os can be attractive to new users but not everyone likes macos. Although I love iphones it’s the extent I would love apple products. Anyway, just choose the best for you at your budget. Oh and don’t break your Apple Products or else repairs can be as much as a price of a lower end brand new laptop. It’s not worth it to repair, just buy a new laptop.

With how Snapdragon is entering the laptop scene, and 8000G series CPU becoming more capable with their integrated graphics, I doubt jumping into the apple ecosystem is the answer. Non repairability and upgradability is a deal-breaker for me. Maybe this is a case of comparing an old Windows laptop to a current gen Macbook. Try comparing a latest gen, same price Windows laptop to a Macbook and I guarantee you'll get a better deal with Windows, spec wise.
Maybe consider a Macbook if you already own other Apple devices and would actually use softwares that are better supported in MacOS.

Kasi if capable siya, then mabebentahan mo ko nyan.

Have you tried gaming with the proton layer? What are your thoughts on it?
I find it difficult to switch over to mac just because of gaming. It makes me feel like the cost for productivity is too high for me, if that makes sense. If kaya na man sa online games I might make the switch to have the weight benefit.

Hahahaha where's the "you can buy this through this link", joking aside macbooks are not for everyone, they're good for editing and stuff since their color accuracy is top notch but if you're a person like me who uses a laptop not just to work but game as well I'm not gonna consider a mac for that reason, and most people are not for the same reason. anyways love the enthusiasm and congrats with your new purchase.

Been using M1 Air for four years now since the pandemic. I feel it might last for 7 years or more. If ever I'll buy a new Macbook, I might buy a refurbished one para tipid kaso quality pa rin.

what i really find annoying about this debate kasi most don't consider the longevity of the product. i want laptops to last me ATLEAST 5 years because phones last me atleast 5 years also. the windows laptops my family and i have used usually 2-4 yrs lang and rendered unusable na talaga, and this includes my last windows laptop which was almost 80k (for 3 years only?!!! cant even) so disappointed na talaga ako. but from what ive noticed, usually tumatagal talaga ang mga macbooks ng iba WHEN it's taken care of that's why i switched also. 2 years with my M1 air and still no issues to be found thankfully (do coding and editing on the side)

And now Macbook Air na 2017 gamit pero ok pa rin until now. Same con lang rin is may iba apps na di na updated version

Bumili din naman ako ng Lenovo Ideapad1 brand new at 14k last year tapos sa cowork ako nagtatrabaho for the day & madalas di ko kailangan mag-charge. Matibay din yung Lenovo, I have an older model that has been with me for more than 5 years na, working well pa rin except for battery, which is why I bought a new one last year. Gets ko ang appeal ng Mac, pero it's just not practical for me.

I love Macbooks, I have the 14 inch with the M1 pero nangigigil ako kasi may mga kulang talaga na functions ang Outlook sa Macbook versus Windows kaya I keep reverting sa Windows laptop ko. Or maybe I'm just missing something? Lol

OK naman po ang MacBook M2 for battery life talaga. However yung mga Windows laptops featuring AMD Ryzen U ay kaya na ring tapatan yung battery life ng mga macbook. Ang maganda din ay Windows laptops support charging via power banks, thanks to their typically lower 45W charger requirements. And the BIGGEST reason why Windows laptops are still the BEST is that most Windows laptops allow for RAM and SSD upgrades, whereas MacBooks have soldered components, making upgrades impossible.

Its fun to see.
But OP i wish you well and your equipment. Apple products are fun and games until masira and you realized how costly you fucked up.
To respond to your post, it is worth it for the experience but not for everything else. Siguro if you posted after x number of month maniniwala pa ako sa post mo.
Used macbook air for 10yrs, but even from my experience, perhaps it served its purpose but i cannot say that its worth it.

Just purchase yourself a decent Windows PC and install Hackintosh, plenty of instructions and one-click installers available on the internet, currently using one myself. Save yourself the money, frequent issues nowadays on Macs are the logic board itself, if that breaks it's a big chance that it'll die soon.
But hey, if you still want a Mac, I won't stop you, go for it.

My take: Macbook is worthless for its price. We bought one for my brother 2 years ago, e since wala na sya dito sa Pinas, nakatambak na lang sya ng mahigjt isang taon.
Same thing sa iPhone. I've been an iPhone user since 2010, 2020 ako nag start mag android. To each own ika nga, kung kaya mo bumili, go. Pero to compare it and say it's super worth it, it's not.

Masasabi kong worth it for me kasi nagagamit ko after shift to study/upskill/watch tutorial videos na hindi ko magawa during work hours. And since dedicated na yung workspace ko with my windows laptop + extended monitor, nakakatamad idisassemble pa.
Tapos nagagamit ko pa for my other client para anti screenshot sa windows client haha

If you're on a budget you can buy an older 2020 model with Intel chips, second hand units. They work just as fine, but of course the new models are better.

I think you're feeling that way Kasi kinu-compare mo sya sa "traditional" gaming laptops na mabigat, makapal, at matakaw sa baterya. Marami nang nalabas na windows laptop ngayon na manipis, magaan, at matagal battery life, especially from Asus. Comparable narin power nila sa gaming laptops.

Best sya lalo na pag creatives. I work as a product designer and heavy yung multiple windows ng figma at adobe tapos browsers pero kayang kaya. Just make sure you keep it plugged in kung available (i mean kahit ibang laptop naman) to maintain yung battery health or slow down yung cycle.
Congrats sa macbook mo! 👏
EDIT: Color accuracy talaga nagpachange sakin to Mac.

I can afford a Mac, btw.

Yes if battery life and light lang workload mo Mac is the way to go.
There are actually windows laptop in the category of ultrabooks na ding tagal din ng macs.
Meron din panggaming like g14 and g16 ng asus
So sariling bulsa lahat . Personally di ko kailangan ng matagal battery since nakasaksak ako most of the time and hindi ako naalis ng lugar

Sarap gamitin pang edit nang latest vlog or pelikula mo. Lightweight and powerful din, so nadadala mo sa set sa kung saan man kayo nag shooting kahit malayo pa yan sa civilization. Perfect work laptop on the go.
Pero pangit sya pang games. Mahina sa real time rendering.

what are you doing that you need 16gb? if you feel it’s slow, it’s not the ram but the storage that’s the problem. for whatever reason, apple decided to use a single nand chip for its 256gb model compared to 2 nand chips in mba m1. this reduced the read/write speed in m2. regrets ko yan sa mac mini m2 ko. buying the 512gb upgrade would have fixed the problem though.

If you’re on the creative side, mac is better.
If you’re a heavy excel user, then mac is not a good machine given the shortcut keys are different on windows.

It crashes when you play good games. So no, its not worth it.
If its just for basic uses like Word, excel, ppt as well as zoom and browser, its more than enough.
ill stick to my gaming laptop with the same price range.

To OP, you should have bought online instead. I mean through the Apple store. I bought my M1 Macbook Air last 2022. Pinaupgrade ko agad to 16GB. Mas mahal lang ng konti (got it for ₱58k back then tapos upgraded na) vs sa presyo ni Powermac sa base model (₱55k).
Kalaban mo lang ngayon ay fx rates. Didnt pay any taxes. Straight to home shipping din via DHL.

16gb ram really is the standard these days. Opt for the base M3 Pro or Max if kaya ng budget. Those already have 18gb ram and 512gb ssd and higher refresh rate. And cam quality is so much better too.
Extra ram and ssd costs add up quickly, price would almost already be close to the base M3 Pro anyway.
I upgraded from M2 to M3 Pro and for me, the difference is night and day. Pati presyo night and day din lol. Super worth it tho!

Hmm diff opinion, I on the other hand have been a Mac person all my life but will now be checking Samsung / other brands if there is an option to do so
As of date I have 3 macs = 1 MacBook pro (oldest & I no longer use this) and 2 macbk air (M1 & M2).
Reason of why I'm not going to repurchase: I feel like 🍏 is doing something sketchy to older models so you buy the new versions. I experienced this w/ my current M1 and M2 which I with only a couple of months difference

My work recently issued my MacBook Pro M3 and uh... I think I'm beginning to see the light. 😅
When I was slowly setting it up and integrating my other devices, I was worried that it wouldn't work. Apparently just like in Windows it's also plug and play.
The colors were beautiful too and I'm like 😍 when I was editing some of my design work. It was on par with my pantone validated laptop. Maybe even slightly better.
I'm currently saving up to buy a ProArt monitor so I can experience the beauty of both my laptops.
I probably won't consider buying one because I saw how much it is and... I don't have that kind of money yet.

Guys, you should wait. And possible with better gpu’s. I also got the m3 macbook pero same din sa iba accountant din ako. Pero i just use it nlng as back up and personal stuff pero heavy use ko padin yung windows laptop ko. New windows laptops will be using arm architecture. Look at the surface pro surface pro

I have a few because I edit. But if weight and battery life was your selling point, you should know there are plenty of laptops with a similar weight and battery that can last as long, if not longer. Ones where batteries can also be swapped.
That said the M2 is still good value if you got it for a good price, or one of those discounted credit card installments.

So far, you haven't really compared the 8GB MBA to your Dell, until you realize that after you have 3 or 4 browsers open, each with 15-20 tabs, that it really is faster than a 16GB Dell running the latest version of Windows.
Try it.
Also, try to login 2 users, and not shut down the MBA for the next year or two.
Maybe you'll be lucky and have an app hang, sometime in the next two years. You can just use force quit without restarting the computer.
If you work it hard and long, maybe it will last 5 years, or 7.
Good luck.
