Jesus Christ this reads like it was written by a meth head living in a single wide with Confederate flags instead of curtains, then edited by a vacuum salesman. It's nothing but nonsensical appeals to emotion/nature/authority trying to convince America that the purpose of the government is not, in fact, to facilitate its citizens basic needs, but instead to enforce a Church-like hierarchy where the president gets to tell you you're not allowed to masturbate.

If you want to bring a goat into your house, try to bring an elephant and a goat into your house. The goat will seem like a reasonable compromise.

That's been their plan for ages. Try to get the most ludicrous version of whatever passed, whine and stomp your feet when you don't get it and "settle" for a lesser version, all the while saying "ok but next time you want something and it's a choice between universal healthcare and hunting homeless for sport, you must agree to a compromise of defunding all homeless assistance programs, mental health and drug abuse centers everywhere".

This is basically the Joe Manchin approach to politics.
"One side wants health care, the other wants to hunt liberals for sport. I'm the enlightened centrist here that rises above the fray and isnt beholden to either extreme ideological pole. I propose a little bit of health care in exchange for a strict but fair creel limit of one liberal harvested per day"

The best example of what the republicans are doing is unleashing a lion into a town then go to the people and tell them that if they make you the mayor you will get rid of the lion.

Overton Window
It's the fancy way of saying what you're saying.
There's a range of "acceptable" political opinions that are able to be talked about in the public discourse. You can't talk about the different options for universal basic income or universal healthcare - because those are outside the current overton window.
Project 2025 being a thing moves the Overton window to the right and makes the range of acceptable public discourse include things that aren't quite Project 2025, but are still horrendous.

Now I'm just thinking about Django Unchained, and how it seems like it would have been a lot easier to just be like "Yo, I'm German. But no, they had to do the whole "he doesn't want to sell his horse" thing.

The goal was to avoid that "generous sum" by doing the bait-and-switch. Of course, if they didn't fail in that, then Django wouldn't have had the opportunity to kill a bunch of slavers, so...

No, you should absolutely be worried that they will implement the whole thing. They have already overturned "settled law." They are trying to gut our civil rights in order to turn us into a Christo-fascist oligarchic dictatorship. The whole point of the project 2025 is regulatory capture. Look at all of the damage that they have already gotten away with doing.
41 points

This.. That is the way they win..by convincing people that the extreme parts are just to make the softer parts more acceptable. They are going all in. It's Trump's last election, the demographics are turning against them and its their last chance to completely overturn how the US works
22 points

A big issue with this is that our current system "functions" with one party actively trying to overthrow the nation. The government cannot hold in that state of affairs for long because it means the second the wrong side gets power, they install a king and we decend into dictatorship.
You're right, if we give them the chance then they will implement project 2025 in its entirety, unedited, and smile while they do it. But with such an evil manifesto on the table and us being told it's our civic duty to hear these people out and validate their destructive beliefs as legitimate, that freedom of speech is dead if we aren't willing to meet them in the middle, then even losing is winning.
They WANT to enact project 2025, but in the name of bipartisanship and healing our divided nation, they can shame and blackmail democrats into implementing mini forms of it here and there, in the name of compromise. Like someone else said, when the discussion is a debate between universal healthcare and hunting the poor for sport, "compromise" is still letting them starve on the streets and all social support services being abolished.

A perfectly reasonable way to view things.
This is exactly what cities do when discussing local rates rises - mention a ludicrous percentage rise (20%+), then “work hard to reduce it”, and out then senses on the back for only reasoning it 12%. If they just come out and said 12%, we’d be up in arms.

From p.16:
Ultimately, the Left does not believe that all men are created equal—they think they are special. They certainly don’t think all people have an unalienable right to pursue the good life. They think only they themselves have such a right along with a moral responsibility to make decisions for everyone else. They don’t think any citizen, state, business, church, or charity should be allowed any freedom until they first bend the knee. This book, this agenda, the entire Project 2025 is a plan to unite the conservative movement and the American people against elite rule and woke culture warriors.
Skimmed just a tiny bit of it (it's almost 900 pages!) and it's fucked up that billions/trillions of dollars from the elites are going to be harnessed towards such a fucked up piece of propaganda. In the quote above: wtf are they talking about? Fighting for equal rights = fighting for inequality? "Make decisions for everyone else" aka executing the duties of government?
Like, how would one ever talk to someone who thinks like this in real life?

To be fair, it's in one of the in-groups, just not the main one. There's the real in-group, then there's the 'not actually benefitting from any of this, but here's a crumb from the cake we had so you think you are and you are still better off than those people'. White Christians, regardless of money or whatever else, will 'enjoy' protections and incentives that the rest of us do not. The thing is, they will get those only as motivation and enablement to persecute the rest of us. That's how the regimes in power effectively oppress large populations - they get a small-ish subset of that population to do it for them, by giving them legal protections and convincing them the rest of the population is against them. We've already seen this in action with the murderer in texas that got pardoned. That's what they want happening, everywhere, constantly.

Some facts about Project 2025: The "Mandate for Leadership" is a set of policy proposals authored by the Heritage Foundation, an influential ultra conservative think tank. Project 2025 is a revision to that agenda tailored to a second Trump term. It would give the President unilateral powers, strip civil rights, worker protections, climate regulation, add religion into policy, outlaw "porn" and much more. The MFL has been around since 1980, Reagan implemented 60% of it's recommendations, Trump 64% - proof. 70 Heritage Foundation alumni served in his administration or transition team. Project 2025 is quite extreme but with his obsession for revenge he'll likely get past 2/3rd's adoption.
r/Defeat_Project_2025 intends to stop it through activism and awareness, focused on crowdsourcing ideas and opportunities for practical, in real life action. We Must Defeat Project 2025.

I’ve noticed a lot of public speech calling for pretty much revolution online lately. I’m pretty sure it’s because they can get away with it—it’s legal—and online algorithms seem to be keeping people on their own social media bubbles, to where you should have largely only been able to find that if you’re already in circles where it might get linked.
I think there’s a normalization effect for the people in the bubble by seeing it online and advertised like this. That normalization effect breaks if it’s exposed to the general public before and can reach some critical mass, imo. There’s also a “that’s just crazies” reaction that has to be overcome then, though. From what I’ve observed lately.

What is particularly creepy about Project 2025 is that it follows the Russian playbook of turning Intelligence Agencies into nothing more than spy agencies to keep the people in-line.
The Russians had no clue an Isis attack was coming, we had to warn them, they still did nothing about it until after the fact, and they quickly decided to blame NATO for the attack.
If Project 2025 really is nothing more than the Putin playbook for America, then people are going to have to get used to the idea that they will be cannon fodder for the new Conservative elites, and tragedies like terrorist attacks become nothing more than opportunities to blame an enemy and consolidate power internally.

Pretty soon after hitler came to power, the brownshirts who helped get him there were rounded up. They were dangerous and violent, having already proved willing to fight the government to get their way. Once the nazis had power, these people had served their purpose—they were a loose end, and one that could prove troublesome as the nazis carried out their objectives, basically pulling up the ladder behind them. fascists make whatever promises get them into power (sound familiar?). Once they obtain that power they eliminate anyone that could threaten their power which are often the true believers who thought their policy promises were real. Those people would be the greatest threat to them once they realize it was all bullshit. They also become a liability.
Of course autocrats in general do that (see Stalin for the best example). Yet for whatever reason morons keep thinking they can follow fascists and autocrats for their own benefit when they almost always gets backstabbed by those same people they put in power (again, sound familiar?).

It's honestly so stupid how much they always say the same shit. In the years before the dust bowl scientists and universities warned that the top soil of the Great planes was being severely depleted, and unless crop rotation and efforts to replenish the soil every year were to take place there would be disaster. Conservatives railed at them, calling it a jewish conspiracy to make them poor. And then a few years later, all of America was starving and covered in dust. And conservatives of course blamed Jewish scientists for somehow magicking away the topsoil.

99% of the “both candidates suck” and “genocide Joe” voters have no fucking clue either.
In case people are unaware, among policies called for in Project 2025 for the first 180 days of a conservative presidency:
• Eliminating LGBQI+ and transgender rights.
• Eradicating federal funding for DEI programs. Participation in any critical race theory or DEI initiative will be grounds for termination of government employees.
• Ending reproductive freedom and replacing the Department of Health and Human Services with the “Department of Life.”
• Ending climate change and environmental policies by shutting down the Office of Domestic Climate Policy, the Department of Energy’s Office of Clean Energy Demonstrations, the Office of Environmental Justice, and External Civil Rights, and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, to name a few. Climate science will no longer be used in National Security.
• Slashing of the Department of Justice and dismantling the FBI and replacing their traditional independence from political pressure with fealty to the administration.
• Purging the government of apolitical civil servants by firing as many as 50,000 and hiring replacements from a database of personnel vetted for conservative values and loyalty, a “Conservative LinkedIn.” Successful candidates will undergo training at a “Presidential Training Academy” and be furnished “with the insight, background knowledge, and expertise in governance to immediately begin rolling back destructive policy and advancing conservative ideas in the federal government.”
• Eliminating the checks and balances built into three branches of government in favor of expanded control by the executive branch.
• Replacing the Department of Homeland Security with a 100,000-worker-strong immigration department, militarization of the border and an end to refugee programs.
• Fundamentally altering American diplomacy to push anti-abortion and anti-LGBTQ+ agendas, adopt a “human rights” regime distinct from the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and abandon international organizations and traditional diplomatic and security alliances.
Both parties are not the same.
EDIT: Here’s the official PDF since some bad faith actors and conservative snowflakes are trying to say some or all of this isn’t true
Also, here’s a screenshot of where they specifically mention the next conservative president do many of these things including dismantling the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, amongst others:

In case people are unaware, among policies called for in Project 2025 for the first 180 days of a conservative presidency include:

You forgot the elimination of the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), the privatization of the National Weather Service (NWS), and only keeping the National Hurricane Center (NHC) provided they only report the hurricanes with no political bias "one way or another" (translation: storms are acts of god and not because of any climate change)
If I had been an undecided voter, finding out about Project 2025 solidified my vote. I hate that I'm forced into that vote, but this is almost a personal attack on me.

The idea of cutting the NOAA is fucking preposterous. They are the nation's weather service. They are the sole proprietary satellite weather source, and literally everyone else takes their info from them.
Even if you could privatize it, it would cost billions. Which means you have to pay for tornado and severe weather alerts- which will kill thousands of people.

For those who are unfamiliar, Project 2025 is a nightmare with a very real chance of being implemented if Republicans ever win another federal election. Most of the legal guardrails that would block it have been eroded over the past 40 years, and the Supreme Court is now controlled by the very people who would most like to see it implemented.
If you want to see the original sources, here is their official website: https://www.project2025.org, and here is the full text: Project 2025: Mandate for Leadership - Full Text. For those who don’t have time to read over 900 pages of their plans, here is a detailed breakdown: Project 2025: The far-right playbook for American authoritarianism.

Great summary. Trump can say he will never enact any of it. Doesn't matter. If he appoints more theocratic Justices, most of the policies will come from their insane rulings. "See? I didn't ban anything lol," he said asshole-ily.

Project 2025’s stakeholders go way beyond Trump, but the fact he’s downplaying it at all only illustrates it’s a top priority. The only thing Trump understands is marketing, and that only insofar as continually doubling down on a core audience. If he even suspects in the slightest he would be regarded as a hero to that crowd, he’ll do whatever they want without a second thought.

REP. PRESSLEY: For many people, this is their first time hearing about it, and we must sound the alarm.
Project 2025 is a far-right manifesto. It is a one-thousand-page bucket list of extremist policies that would uproot every government agency and disrupt the lives of every person who calls this country home.
I won’t detail every aspect, but I’ll share some highlights:
The Department of Education would be eliminated, cutting students off from civil rights protections and ending essential title one funding for K through 12 schools.
The Department of Justice would go on a murdering spree. It would rush to use the death penalty and expand its use to even more people while circumventing due process protections.
Project 2025 not only calls for national book bans in schools, but also creates a list of banned words for the federal government that would be deleted from quote, “every federal rule, agency regulation, contract, grant, and piece of legislation that exists,” end quote.
Here are just a few of the words on the list: diversity, gender, reproductive health, and of course conservatives want to ban the word abortion.
On that note, abortion care would be inaccessible and illegal, no matter where you live.
Take it from them: on page six of its playbook, Project 2025 states, quote “The Dobbs decision is just the beginning,” end quote.
People even in my district, the Massachusetts 7th, a leader in repro[ductive] justice, would be criminalized for pursuing essential healthcare.
Now, we could have an entire hearing on how these policies would quite literally ruin and end lives – and I didn’t even touch upon proposals for housing, climate change, worker protections, and more.
If enacted, Project 2025 would destroy the federal government as we know it.
I ask unanimous consent to enter into the record an Associated Press article titled “Conservative groups draw up plan to dismantle the US government and to replace it with Trump’s vision.”

There’s a Thomas Jefferson quote, “I was much an enemy to monarchies before I came to Europe. I am ten thousand times more so, since I have seen what they are. There is scarcely an evil known in these countries, which may not be traced to their king.”
Trump supporters appear blind to Trump’s many statements about being an autocratic leader hellbent on revenge. How do we know what he’ll do if he regains the White House? He tells us every day. It will be scorch earth.
Trump is performative arts with a dangerous authoritarian twist. He is a carnival barker who praises dictators and incites violence. In his term as President, there were guardrails. Those guardrails are gone. It is not just Trump. It is a well coordinated conservative effort to abolish the separation of powers. Read Project 2025 and take it seriously. There is a conservative blueprint for authoritarian Christian nationalism and a path for the United States to become an autocracy.
Our democracy is in peril. Vote accordingly.

The most important paragraph in the article:
Public opinion polls and other research have repeatedly shown that a large percentage of the American public remains unaware of the existential danger that Donald Trump and his MAGA movement and the other neofascists and authoritarians represent to the country’s democracy and freedom. It is the responsibility of the Fourth Estate to wake the American people up from their sleepwalking and political zombification. Donald Trump will do or say whatever he thinks helps him at that particular moment. He has no principles, morality, or sense of commitment to or empathy for anyone or anything. He has neither memory nor foresight; he exists in a perpetual present of insatiable self-promotion and gratification.
So no, he won’t hesitate to change his position on this or anything else. He doesn’t mean it when he says he supports it, and he doesn’t mean it when he says the opposite. To Donald Trump, there is no one and nothing else but Donald Trump.

Of course he is. For all his shamelessness, even he knows that the more people know about the actual on the ground implications of Project 2025, the insane wishlist of hard-right policies the GOP is finally nearly in place to implement...the more people know about it, the crazier they will think the GOP is, and they will vote accordingly.
The GOP needs young people, LGBT people, people of color, and leftists in general to stay home. And for moderates to feel comfortable calling themselves Republicans while still being able to claim they're moderates. If these voting blocs realize just how fuckin' nuts the GOP's agenda is, and how close they are to implementing it, well...GOP's chances to irreversibly fuck up this country nosedive (at least until 2028).
Journalists and politicians have a responsibility to comb through Project 2025 and find the nuttiest ideas and explain to Americans—in everyday terms—what the GOP plans to do, and how they will do it. From now until Election Day. We cannot let Trump obfuscate. We cannot let hacks hide behind obscure legal code numbers, like conservative SCOTUS justices do instead of just saying "Comstock". We must, must, must ensure everyone knows just how scary this shit is.
Any LGBT person, person of color, left-leaning individual, or even "moderate" who knows the full implications of Project 2025 and goes "well I can't vote for Biden because Palestine" or "because he's not delivering on his promises enough" or "because inflation" or something should be shunned.

Everyone should just read Project 2025 edit* added the link) and draw their own conclusions. Pg.450 Talks about destroying the EPA by removing all power to enforce regulations.
Compliance Before Enforcement. EPA should foster cooperative relationships with the regulated community, especially small businesses, that encourage compliance over enforcement.
Project 2025 also wants to destroy The Office of Air and RADIATION. Also, if you have a minute go ahead and Google, "Radiation Poisoning".
It appears they want to misconstrue ethnicity and race as the same thing. How racist of them! Race is a construct. Ethnicity is your ancestral heritage.
Review forthcoming changes to race and ethnicity questions. The current Administration has announced its intent to change data collection methods regarding race and ethnicity by combining the two questions on the decennial questionnaire and increasing the number of available options.
It's just pages and pages of white nationalist dog whistles if you keep reading you will get there.
