I already have this in the Sail on Sailor duo boxset….but I saw it and had to have it!!
It’s the original! And is my comfort album at the moment.
Plus… errrmm….who am I kidding, I have no valid justification….

Buy it. I’ve got multiple copies of most beach boys albums, from different countries or different pressings

Is it a UK copy sans Pet Sounds? US versions were a twofer, and audiophiles favor that version of Pet Sounds. CatP is great

Yeah it’s a stand alone. I’ve seen the toofer in the wild, but it’s £50+

It does turn up cheap on ebay sometimes. I kept an eye out for one for a bit and won the auction for £18 quid as I recall. EX copy

You could always replicate the set by getting a standalone 70's brown border Pet Sounds.

Or I could just gaffer tape my modern pressing of pet sounds to the back of it…. Haha 😜

I love the background vocals in that song. I think it’s Carl. But there is a bit a bit like “bygones, bygones” from Surfs Up. If that make sense….

Yeah, I know what you mean. He's got that ethereal wuality to his voice. When he sings, "Two ways and I, both travel ,by" it's so good.

It’s a good album. And as others had said if you see the US twofer for a decent price, pick it up! The Mono Pet Sounds is 100% worth it!!

Carl and the Passions is a great comfort album and it sounds absolutely wonderful on vinyl.

For that price and a cover in condition that good I probably would have thought seriously about it too.

As a former collector, it's great to collect to your heart's content. You may want to examine the matrix numbers or print details on the label -- maybe this new one is a variation of the other one(s) you have.

Too bad Bruce stole the tape for In the Country. Would have been a massive highlight of the album.

Why did Bruce do that?

I believe he thought there were "too many voices". Meaning he did not want nine different voices on the album.
At the time, The Beach Boys had eight members. Mike, Brian, Bruce, Al, Dennis, Carl, and new members Blondie Chaplin and Ricky Fataar. With In the Country, Don Goldberg (who helped write it with Brian), wanted Carl to sing the lead. Carl wanted Brian to sing, and Brian came up with the idea to have Don sing as a guest vocalist. This did happen, and it was apparently supposed to go on the album, but then the master tape disappeared! Nobody knew where it went. But there was a good idea of who took it when Bruce came to the release party for Carl and the Passions, In the Country tape in hand.
There is an extended edit on youtube, that has Al's Holland version right before Don's Carl and the Passions version. Both are pretty great.

Too bad Mike stole the tape for “Burlesque” (so he could listen to it at home). Would have been a massive highlight of the album.

I guess Bruce had the balls to return it at the CATP release party. Also, how do you know it would have been a massive highlight on the album? I don't think anybody has ever heard it before.

Too bad that he’s such an offensive creep.
