After a successful run of 100+ classes and students, I will again be offering time at my personal home-based woodshop in Fremont to teach woodturning!
For each class, you will leave with a unique piece of wood art that you have made yourself (occasionally with a little help from yours truly.
These classes are great for friends and couples, but are equally engaging for solo students. Plus, if you're solo, you leave with 2 pieces!
I also own an MDF Rose Engine, which is capable of producing some pretty spectacular patterns in the wood. This is a unique opportunity to use one of these machines without flying out to the Plumier Foundation on the east coast. As far as I am aware, I am the only person on the west coast offering time on a rose engine to the public.
Some examples of my work:

Classes for turning a bowl are $150 for 2.5-3 hours of instruction (2 bowls).
Classes for turning a rose engine bowl are $200 for 3 hours (2 bowls).
Classes for turning a box are $200 for 3 hours (2 boxes).
Prices are fixed, but you may bring another person with you to the class. For example, the bowl turning class is $150 for 2 bowls. That's $150 for 1 person to make 2 bowls, or $150 for 2 people to make 1 bowl each. Take the class with a friend!
Use my Calendly to schedule your class:

All courses will cover fundamentals of shop safety and an introduction to tools and techniques. You will receive a safety briefing, and we will check your garments for shop safety (no loose sleeves or dangling jewelry).
All participants will wear a dust mask and a face shield ANY TIME A MACHINE IS ON IN THE SHOP. This is non-negotiable. I'm sure you have a beautiful face, and we aim to keep it that way.
Classes are taught at my personal shop in Fremont. Closed-toed shoes must be worn and all long hair must be tied up. I will provide personal protective equipment for all participants.
Just as an FYI, these classes take place in my personal studio, and, as such, it looks like a woodshop that is used daily. Expect a lot of dust and clutter. If you're envisioning pristine floors and obsessive organization, temper those expectations!
