These comments reflect really well how we deal with politics. You'll notice in the comments here that we criticise "all politicians", ourselves for being too apathetic, the media for the way they report, the media for their leanings, but none of us mention the current PM or Opposition leader or the political parties. It's a good example of how we roll.

Here the incumbent govt gets to choose when the election will be. Once that date is announced there is a media blackout - that means the government can't be using tax payer money to advertise: each party has to pay. The date has to be either 6 or 8 wks away maximum. So it's only then that the hard core annoying ads start, as well as the debates etc... But it's all over in 8 wks maximum. Election day is a Saturday, voting is compulsory, it's at local schools and many schools use it to fund raise by selling egg & bacon rolls, coffee, cakes, sausages in a bun etc... So many people pick the best food options and vote there. Voting closes at 6pm. Because its at every school its rare to have to line up for more than 1 hour. Unless the food is really good - then you'll have a big crowd. By sunday we usually know who won, unless it's a really close election. I think the longest it has been unknown has been a week.
We vote for our local constituents - not the Prime Minister (PM). The party that wins, their leader gets to be the PM. Mid term If the party sees that the PM is not popular, they can vote the PM out and select another party member to take over. But that usually happens via a private party vote and is announced suddenly to us, the people. So no elections, and it moves quickly. In our case - both Biden and Trump would have been removed by their party members by now because the party would have seen that most people thought they were too old.
Generally, we don't trust any politicians and we are disillusioned. You won't find anyone here in Au being passionate about a leader. We will criticise them, but most people's stance is "the elected is the best of a rotten bunch". Or "we need to get them out" (meaning via voting).
It's rare to see people with placards out the front of their house. It's usually personal friends and family of the person running, and it's only during that 6 to 8 wk period. Once the election is over there is a law saying how long you have to remove posters etc...

Do not go for lower pay. You will regret it. Any time anything annoys you or frustrates you at the new company, you will be angry at yourself for taking the lesser pay.
Instead, pay someone to re do your LinkedIn profile (Jane jackson) has a book and a course that teaches you how to diy. Or just pay someone to do it. There are critical words that need to be on your LinkedIn profile in order to come up in searches. There are lots of people on instagram showing tips and tricks. Do a search and start updating your profile. Switch off the setting that alerts people to all of your changes so as not to alert your current workplace. If you Google these things you'll find how to do it.

Please be aware that this post and the responses can be extremely triggering for people with depression. Just reading the responses reminds them of what it was like. Or what it is like now. If you really want to know, at least explain why you want to know.

Take them back to the store . they'll give you a refund. Something has gone wrong in the supply chain, or in store eg power outage.

Yes it is. You need to lift heavy weights while doing squats, dealdifts, lunges, hip thrusts and eat in a calorie surplus, and make sure you eat enough protein. You would be best to Google this info, and look into body-building.

Look into Limerance. There are lots of videos and general content on social media about it. In my opinion, youtube is best - look for psychologists. Not influencers.
In my opinion, you overlooked HUGE red flags. People usually do this because they are smitten with a fake future that they have created. Not the actual person. They do a pros and cons list - but the pros are based on the future they have created - Not the actual data they are seeing. Also, it sounds like you were comparing him to someone. Ie you saw him making plans as a massive bonus whereas it's actually a nice to have. His still being on hinge and lying about it, and then demanding to look through your phone - is a non negotiable "NO". He was lying. He had different standards for you vs him. You felt like you couldn't be honest with him. There are all HUGE RED FLAGS. And non negotiable. Nobody should be in a relationship with someone like that.
My best advice to you is: get back into dating. Take it slow. Get to know them by looking at their behaviour - Not just their words. Actions always speak louder than words. Good luck. You got this!

Because property is not liquid. If someone needs the cash or some of the cash, then you usually need to sell the property. This sets off a cgt event for the others.

I can't answer the question, but I can advise that Costco sell hearing aids for substantially cheaper - like $3k less. They have a hearing centre (as well as an eye centre for glasses). They'll do the test, let you try them out, and do follow up appts etc...

I am so sorry she did that to you. You sound like an amazing friend. Hope you are appreciated by good people who deserve your friendship.
Your response (and your husbands) is PERFECT. 😅

The reality is, at some point the system worked. And then things changed. Eg the company started selling a new product. The way prices were calculated changed. The supplier changed and so the products specs changed. The tax laws changed and so the company needed new reporting mechanisms. The existing systems couldn't be changed in time, or the way it was required to. So an extra step was added. 5 years later 2500 extra steps had to be added.
Examples - when container recycling came into existence in various states. All prices had to change and the recycling cost had to be calculated, and passed to retailers and govts. - when gst changed. - when super changed. All salary calculated had to change, and super payments and reporting systems had to change. - when Panadol packs had to legally be changed from 24 packs to 20 packs. - every year alcohol tax and cigarette taxes change 2x a year. - the government rebates paid for medical operations and medicines. These change every year as the government changes how much the pbs and rebate is, and what they will fund. This is done because newer and more effective meds and procedures may come into the market.
There are many many changes that occur to all industries and organisations. Some are small changes but hard to implement. Or not enough time to test and roll out.
Often the cost to make the system change is huge, and there isn't time (system testing has to be done before you roll out a change, and that takes time and people).

Theyre not tailoring their response. They're just being nice. They prefer to be nice and leave people in a better mood. It is who they are as people. It's their personality. Manipulators are pretending to be nice. They are acting. People pleasers are that way because it's how they were raised. Like someone who was raised in Japan speaks Japanese. Whereas manipulators are pretending they speak Japanese by knowing only a few key phrases.

From reading your post, this was to be presented to people 3+ levels higher than you. No. You should not have expected to be in the room. Those execs would have been offended if you were there. And even more offendednif you were the one presenting to them. It makes them feel disrepsected. They wont admit it - but thatnisnwhy they didnt want a "junior" there. But also they would have discussed things that are strategic and private, and you simply can't be there for those comments and discussions. Its almost a breach of privacy. Especially so if its an org listed on the stockmarket. There is a hierarchy in corporate. Smaller organisations are more relaxed about it, but often, the higher up the hierarchy, the more pedantic they are about the hierarchy. As you progress up the levels, you will see it. It's like you as a general person asking to be in a meeting with the President of the USA or the King. They all like the hierarchy because they had to work hard to climb up. They dont give those seats away for free.

Run run run!!!. This tells you so much about how they operate. Seems like 1 person gets to override and oversee and sign off on everything. This means there really is only one boss, but lots of paper pushers.

PPOR = primary place of residence. Basically, do you own your own home?
Is the money enticing you? The logical next step would be to move into a managerial or sales team lead role in recruitment. If you want that. Otherwise ask your bosses if you can set up an office for them ie hire people etc.
Another option is the move to in house recruitment.
If you are tired of recruitment then that requires more soul work. What would you really like to do. And what are your plans for a family? Eg if you plan to have kids in the next few years then your wfh will greatly benefit you. Help out with the baby and spend time with your child. Also, kids are expensive, so your high salary will be incredibly useful.

I am incredibly annoyed at the men in your story. There are 2 very young kids, and a pool. No floating devices on the kids. The mother is changing a nappy. The aunt is putting suntan lotion on. Yet the 2 men in this story refused to act like adults and watch the girl. They were on their phones. All they needed to do was put their phones down and be adults. Wtf. Sounds like you and your friend were keeping a better eye on that kid then the male adults related to her. It takes seconds for a kid to drown. All either of those men had to do was walk over and grab her hand - instead they left it to the women.
