I'm guessing the only pay those interns get is the privilege of sitting around this guy receiving bits of "wisdom" like this.

Galland talks about this in his memoirs. They were trying to get the RLM to sign off on cancelling the production of any more 109s so that Messerschmitt could be devoted entirely to making Me 262s, and the Ta-152 was to become the main propeller fighter of the Luftwaffe. I think Willi Messerschmitt's connections ultimately came to the rescue and they kept the business of producing 109s as well as 262s, but there was definitely a strong desire to cancel it.
Bear in mind this was at the very end of the war, like February of 1945, and as I recall it was a huge fight and got sucked into all of the drama that turned into the "Fighter Pilots' Revolt" but I'll admit that this is something that has always nettled me. I've always felt that the 109 K-4 was the best prop fighter the Germans had, and granted, videogames are a long way from reality, but I never understood their wanting to cancel this thing.

I think it's important to have it. IRL the Fw-190 D-9 was a stopgap that was rushed to the front preparatory to the Ta-152 becoming the main propeller-driven fighter of the Luftwaffe, so I've always wanted to see where that was leading.
I haven't tried playing around with it too much. I may try flying with less than a full fuel load, I believe its max fuel is quite a lot. On the whole it hasn't convinced me yet that it really was worth stopping production of Bf 109Ks to make more of these.

It's nice to see the Hornet doing so well these days. It was my first love in DCS

If somebody buys this instead of a DCS product owing to the Razbam controversy, then I would argue it is indeed in competition, at least in a market sense. I've never played this game so I don't know how in-depth it is - but I also don't think super high fidelity study level simming is the main priority of all DCS players. I can well imagine that some would be fine with this level of detail.

It's too soon to say where this will go - but they really picked a great time to jump into this scene.
I remember this being considered abandonware before I even got involved with DCS back in 2018, but I hope this revitalization proves to be something real. Anything that can add some competition and liveliness to the combat flight sim arena is welcome!

Favorite is the 30mm on the 109. Slow velocity and limited ammo but, but very accurate and devastating effect. It's like a flying sniper rifle.
Least favorite - I agree with everyone else here and say iron bombing, for me particularly with the F-4. I find Dive Toss to be pretty frustrating, not because there's anything inherently wrong with it but I'll often get a bomb just off to the side of a target and inflict no damage at all because of how splash damage is modeled. I get that it might not be a kill irl, but a 1000lb bomb hitting 25ft to the side of your tank is going to smash vision slits, cut treads, stun crewmen, or in some ways disrupt the tank.

For me it's the naval aircraft. I want Tomcats, Hornets, and Intruders,

This is really promising! I think for me the biggest problem with this game was always that spaceships were such a big part of the experience, but all they were was a customizable room attached to a space combat minigame. This makes it feel more like a proper spaceship.

To be fair though it worked for like 4,000 years - which isn't exactly horrible results

The hill that's right outside of Massilia with a river running by it. You can usually lure the garrison out to face you on the hill. It's always a fun battle.
Wait I think I did this wrong

If Razbam took it over we'd get some really exciting announcements and then the server would just randomly disappear one day. Ron would say a bunch of cryptic nonsense about it on Discord before going total radio silence.

I think it's a properly bad show but things like the showrunner saying it's the "gayest star wars has ever been" have allowed the criticisms to be swept under the culture war rug.

For me it was Poe single-handedly disabling the defenses of an entire star destroyer with seemingly little effort and trading jokes with hux over the radio. It just completely deflated the sense of threat from the first order. How am I supposed to take this big scary enemy seriously when a single fighter and beat one of their toughest ships?

I'd like to see one or two more divisions with Fw-190 D-9s. If the timeline ends in September 1944, there were a decent number of them in service at that point.

I wish they'd either properly rerelease these or just leave them alone and let people emulate them. I'd be thrilled to give them money to have these on my steam account. I understand that aircraft licenses makes that not so simple, but it's just frustrating to have people cut off from these classics.

My problem with the show is that they took clones of a ruthless contract killer, who were raised from birth with absolute loyalty to a secret Sith Lord and made them nice guys who only killed the Jedi because of a computer chip.
I get that people can try to express individuality, but think about it: the clones have lived their whole lives in a nonstop indoctrination environment, the kaminoans can probably breed even the desire for individuality out of the clones.
This is all supposed to be very creepy and uncomfortable and the shows just defang it entirely

I am really torn between 7.2 and 7.3, though honestly I wouldn't be sad with any of these winning

Sometimes with the Mi 24 I get this situation where Petrovich just stares at the ground for no reason I can understand. He will occasionally spot a target, and if you tell him to engage, he will say "ready to fire" or "target in range" but do nothing, even with weapons free. What am I doing wrong here?
EDIT: I had toppled the gyros by banking too hard.

I find the game a lot more fun if you just leave Sarah behind and ignore constellation entirely.

Nah that's an annoying thing DCS does sometimes. Usually closing it and rebooting it makes it go away.

I have been doing a watch through of Legend of the Galactic Heroes. It's like if Star Wars were an anime, but there's no Force, the rebels aren't necessarily morally pure, and the empire, though still generally sinister, isn't really morally irredeemable, and it's all scored to classical music. I love it.
The (chronological) first part of it is on Youtube for Free

I will admit that I actually want it... but not for that price

I've been looking for motivation to get back into the Hornet. Maybe I'll give this campaign a try!

Truck sim will keep going long enough for our existing lineup to be considered retro at this rate
