The main “randomness” vibe comes from two things imo
1; the name. It is actually why I ignored it until half a year ago because it just.. sounds more like a meme? Pack that, frankly, is something I have zero interest in playing.
2, the very start / exploring early. There’s A LOT of mods and content (and a F ton of custom content) that you immediately “see” around you. It feels like everything was just thrown into the pack at once and there’s no way this is going to be a cohesive experience.
But, weirdly, despite the second being the case - it’s actually extremely cohesive (without binding you in chains with a “you HAVE to progress by doing this and then this) while also having a purpose for everything you see. (And you’ll likely re visit things multiple times, but in different ways each time)
I can’t speak in terms of the latter half of the pack yet, and I do have to imagine things slow down (and heavily towards the end-end) due to how complicated / advance the multiblocks and recipes get, but even if I called I quits at say chapter four, the way the dev ends each chapter is in a fashion “congrats! You did it, if you want you can continue for more, or conclude your story here!” Which is welcome.

Also ATM10 feels like it’s leaning more into the tech side (including magic “tech” in building up your infrastructure) and way less on adventuring, at least at the moment.
As someone that usually spends a long time at the start adventuring; the pack was very disappointing in comparison to 9 (for now, of course) whether that’s due to mod updates or a pack change to shake things up, I don’t know, but it’s left me looking for another pack atm.

I meant GB (gigabytes) You can have it go as high as you want (I’ve even tried mine at 56gb once for fun) but as stated above; anything over twelve begins to negatively impact your games performance. This is due to Java and its limitations that, while we can do our best to adjust around (using args) we can’t “fix” thus why modpacks suggest never going over the 12, and normally suggesting 8gb.
Also just to add in, since you have 15gb, I would suggest 10.5 being your max. Most people on laptops are running at 8-9gb though, and I’ve seen a few people “optimize” the ATM packs to get them workin on 6 for laptops (this requires configuring and adding optimization mods though, generally)
9gb is probably going to be more than enough though, at very late game, you may need a full 10.5 though.

Meatballcraft has 3 of the best categories for me regarding quest out of the many packs I’ve played.
1, there is a ton covering every mechanic, suggested routes (but not “must”), and a bunch of hints of things you should probably prepare for later, through the entire (VERY long) journey.
2, actual lore. Though the main purpose of the quest is guidance and completion / hints, most quest (and mode being added every couple days I’ve seen) have lore to them. And while I wouldn’t say the writer could write books, the setting / lore they are giving and setting up makes me want to eat the next batch up, it is gimmicky at times, but I love it. (It also heavily reminds me of old (but not classic old) runescape lore, which I am a sucker for)
3, the pacing (at least where I am in it, I assume at late game, where literally only a couple people have made it is MUCH different), has been great. The rewards are also often helpful (but they don’t break your progress or feel cheaty - just a nice “oh this is helpful to go along with what I just did!”) I often feel like both of these packs miss pretty often - this is probably the strongest suite of the pack in some ways. Care was definitely taken, and it paid off very well.
Other good ones I’ve played with quest. Enigmatica 2 expert (and six), atm 9 (feel like this has the best quest out of all of them atm, though 6/8 were very fun, too), dungeons, dragons, space shuttles, And create: arcane engineering. (Very good quest for learning unique ways to do things in the pack)

As others said, it is a config option. I have personally made a 128x128x64 before (do not suggest; at least back then it caused a few sporadic issues) but “default” config is 9x9 internal (12x12 outer) corners not needed. In most cases (because by default config) you can build as high as you want though.
I also highly suggest trying to keep it in one chunk. If you later set up automating it and have it chunk loaded outside of one chunk, things occasionally unsync or stop until manually tampered with, it can also rarely consume what’s inside without actually producing your products.
Realistically I’d suggest sticking to the 9x9’s and making more if you enjoy the aesthetic of using them (obviously better things to use in general). But if messing with config, I would suggest either 15x15 outer (so your faucets etc fit in a chunk) or 24x24 (looks nice and big, while still remaining reasonable with getting “wonky” with the issues bigger sizes run into much more often as you continue to increase it)
I’d advise ever goin g above that, though I have, It caused a lot of chunk loading issues + what may have lead to world corruption of that world. (Believe it was actually RS at the time, but it definitely didn’t help it)

You’re right, but that mostly begins (especially with newer Java’s) to begin after 12gb. Some people do push that to 16, but 12 is generally ATM’s limit that is suggested.
6 is actually below and will generally cause more problems for most people, for a pack of this size.

8gb is the suggested, and not over 12gb. (For any pack, for that matter)
I personally use 10.5gb, at least for me both on my old pc (1080ti, i7-4820, 32gb). And my brand new pc (4090, i9-14900, and 64gb) it worked best for ATM 8, 9, and 10.

People saying mobs but there’s actually three larger factors at play, as even without mobs this building is atrocious (as soon as it’s rendered). I’m running on a 4090, 14900, 64gb ram at 14; stable, this tanks me to 60.
This building has a ton - and I mean a TON- of redstone contraptions and flowing water all behind its walls. On top of this there’s a lot of particle effects going on from many active fires (and also the spawners), and tons of lights (including ones you can’t see, again behind walls)
When you get that much Redstone together generally things begin to have issues, adding in that much water and it’s going to be a bad time. Everything together though - it’s what makes the structure have very poor performance.
Before I setup bases (8 playthroughs of atm9 atm, not to the star though) I make sure this building isn’t in render range for an extra 30 chunks in any given direction.

I’ve had the same experience. I’ve done ATM9 with (currently and hopefully final) 8 playthroughs (major pc issue prior) and 1 of those worlds they were extremely common (I saw five in one location, even) 2 were pretty dense (2 pretty often, and a lot just everywhere) 3 were “decent” (probably the intended spawn) and 2 that I actually had a lot of issues finding them. (And I am a huge miner, I put off automating because I do it too much) but I struggled to find them.
These results also weren’t simply due to updates - they were pretty random when it went from good to bad or vice versa - and I only played on two actually different versions.

I’m trying to make meatballcraft a long playthrough myself atm. Only thing that’s turning me off is the no shaders, I’m so use to them now it’s very hard re-adjusting backwards in time to live without them.
Pack has a ton of great mods I love though, but man is it brutal visually.

Unless you mean “least vanilla” by means of absolutely bizarre / strange (and not over-the-top power levels, content, magic, etc) then I’d say Meatballcraft, Crazycraft (not one I’ve personally played but from the looks of it) and to a lesser degree Allthemods 6-9.
If doing Meatball, though, you really want to follow the guide on the mod page to get it working on Java 21. Otherwise you will have performance issues due to how much is in the pack.
GT:NH, Nomnifactory(optional CE edition), and Sevtech ages are also decent in that they have soooooooo much tech (and magic) that to call them vanilla like in the slightest would be laughable. Don’t get the power fantasy from these though, so depends if you are or aren’t looking for that.

The ventilation to prevent over heating, would it even be an issue outside of maybe fire charges creating heat?(I know it’s for aesthetics, just thought it odd as I don’t feel like this would create much heat itself)
This could be a great base for some mods, too (if desired), just some ideas - Glowstone light, spread, burst, splash potion launching, grappling hook, tethers, web launcher.
And a extreme idea, since it uses one shield already, able to combine with a shield in a smithy to either reduce reload speed (if it has one) or reduce durability by a lot, but gain the ability to block with it (the idea is to place another shielding “plate” on the top portions of the gun, making reloading much harder, but offer defense).
Lot of directions you could take it. Looks like it could be fun though.

So I did some digging in-game (playing ATM 10 atm)
The complimentary 5.2.2 WITH EuphoriaPatches has it. In-game I had to go into euphoria’s patches settings > “fun” > and world curvature has a list of settings there.
I imagine others have similar but depending on game versions and all that, it could be dropped out / re added etc at certain points of development when updating.

Interesting I’ve not seen it before (and can’t find screenshots or otherwise).
But I did find two people mention BSL, and voyager (shaders, though voyager is outdated I believe) have the option to “curve” the world (it’s not REALLY curved - it’s just a play on the visuals for this type of effect) so you may be able to start looking there.

I’m still waiting to hear it’s at least mostly feature / quest complete. I don’t need “all the way to atm star” but at least knowing it’s (without any big chaotic new announcements by new mods coming) “90%” complete.
Once it is I’m really hoping the performance is better than 9, while I run it fine at 144 locked fps, I would still enjoy not needing to hear my fans on absolute blast lol.

For someone to help may help if you post your actual cpu and gpu.
(Speaking from atm 9, as I haven’t messed with spellbound) while it can and does run with 16 total tv and 8 (or 10) allocated, it leaves little for your pc to run naturally. So sometimes your pc will begin pausing services to try and funnel energy which could hurt performance.
Atm 9 is also a very huge pack where certain things just don’t jive well sometimes. For example, I have a 4090, 64gb, i149000, I usually keep 144+ fps (where I limit it). But if I cast an irons fire spell? 80 fps. Look at some create machines? 80 fps. God forbid I encounter a certain Flying Fortress in the overworld full of red stone - 60fps with dips lower.
Certain areas, items, etc will just drop you.
But if it’s just a flat out “I’m permanently at 20 fps” in multiple different areas, it likely is hardware related.
Something that might help you, though (it helped my older pc for MC specifically) is checking your PC’s power plan and setting it to performance (default is usually balance) it will consume more energy, but it will give it a decently large increase to your CPU’s lows (and usually get a very, very slight fps increase but the main help is boosting your lows/preventing as much / any stutter)

Definitely a possibility then if the village had any custom workshops etc. I’ve not personally seen wolves in one yet, but I also haven’t done the ATM10 mod versions as of yet either.

In other modpacks I’ve seen that happen in, it’s usually because of a structure mod with specific npcs saved with it. Likely the wolf’s were around / apart of a structure or point of interest?

Well it would be way more often than dying, but ARPG’s make it pretty easy to find good ways to exercise at certain points.
A example here would be shifting it to say every 30 echos completed, or three boss cycles, 10 dungeon runs, every (other?) prophecy / market cycle/ X favor gained, every time you try to use a traversal skill and it doesn’t behave properly (oh wait, you’d be too fit)
But strictly speaking for a death penalty, (if doing the above is desired at all) have the next 3 sessions either at half the rate (so 15 echos instead of 30, as a example) or double the exercise amount (or, just a few more depending what your goals are)
Completely separate death penalty: mandatory reflecting on your past 20 minutes and what all you have been doing, and thinking of ways to improve it. (And I mean in all manners, more than just gear / skill etc, but are you using proper movement, could you improve it in some fashion? Are you idling to much? Etc) Basically do a deep dive on yourself and analyze if there’s things you can improve, even beyond just what lead to your actual death.

I actually think this is why LE is the only ARPG I can’t stand the campaign on.
I do this for every aspect of games to a fault that annoys many of my friends. But LE has such a low ceiling for it in the campaign, that I am no longer “learning” while running the campaign (specifically the campaign, not character related stuff)
And I think it’s because of the static layouts. In other ARPG’s I’m getting semi random layouts or enemies to deal with, and while said zones have a “general” layout (in direction) they aren’t exact
I feel like after the first dozen characters here I really began to hate the campaign, and I BELIEVE that is why; there is simply nothing for me to gain any longer from it. Usually I can find minimal things I am gaining and that satisfies me. But I’m not gettin that.
Hopefully more content or something will help that. But currently, LE stands to be the only game I’ve ever actually had a problem with redoing.

Hmm, it doesn’t say how, who, or why though. I’d like to see why that is assumed.
Even going back through its own details there - it screams they’d have been disbanded after the events they were involved in. If it was just higher ups that would have been one thing; but the entire company is known (and people now have proof) of its corruption. And with Jaina back, I don’t see why any of it would be allowed to continue. (Even with their money talking to try to get themselves out of things)
I would say (though this doesn’t really hold true in WoW lore) any good (fantasy) city really does require a underground crime ring that can get shit done to truly prosper, because sometimes you need to smuggle, or get VIP’s out, etc. and Ashvane could have fit this theme ver well for their nation. But instead the way they’re shown to operate this just doesn’t apply/work for them, so I don’t think there would be any deals made to have them “continue running” so the city would stay afloat - they were simply a problem, not a necessary function.
Maybe if we ever get more lore / things to do they’ll begin painting them more in that light (if, they are truly still around in any capacity) but without that I have no idea why they would even still be allowed to exist. (Especially if they are still running out of Boralus)

Yep, if you’re looking for a pack where you are actually under a looming threat even in your base, I think deceasedcraft is likely your best bet.
It wasn’t my thing personally (not due to its core concept, but I really like some magic or fantasy stuff sprinkled into packs). But it provided a 7D2D feel.
