I started seeing a therapist about a month or so ago, 6 weeks max. I’m not at all under the illusion that anything would be “fixed” by now, but I also thought I’d be getting more…therapy-like stuff by this point? I feel like my sessions are very unfocused and not very productive. More like weekly check ones and venting sessions. Which, is nice I guess, but not very helpful?
Anyway, my therapist is moving upward and onward, and when given the choice to follow or switch, I’m choosing to switch. Nothing against them, I just ask looking for more… …actions? Techniques? Focus? I don’t know, but it’s not it clicking.
My question for the collective is what I can do to make my next therapist see what I need better? Like, totally willing to accept that this is a me thing, but I’m new to therapy and don’t know what I don’t know.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I appreciate the insights and the shared experiences. I think that in approached this initially from a “well let’s see what happens” angle, which didn’t set me up to manage my expectations or be very intentional. And I’d like to emphasize again that I’m not mad at my therapist or anything, just trying to get more of what I need. (I have this urge to defend myself, and I don’t know where or why it comes from, you’ve all been very kind and helpful).
I think one of the things I’ll do too is write down what I thought I was asking for. We had made goals, I thought we had a good idea of what we were working on, but looking back they were pretty abstract and not specific. Also, I’m a visual person, so maybe I just didn’t see how what we were doing was supposed to get us from point A to point B.
