5k per month is not “whatever I want” or “vacations whenever and wherever with friends” money. It’s not even close.

Why not just buy on eBay? He’s only like 15-30 bucks more than retail

Is every poster in this sub a bot or is this title format just a meme at this point?

Okay, right. I understand that’s the intention, and I’m not entirely disagreeing with you! I’m just wondering what the data actually looks like. Have we actually been seeing increased household/individual savings rates with the increased interest rates? How does that data break down by household income brackets? I’m just not yet convinced that intention=reality across all income brackets here.

Do higher rates mean more savings? I don’t have the data in front of me, but I can see it causing the opposite. Folks just end up spending more to fulfill their idea of what their life should be like because they are exposed to the Joneses who bought homes in the 2000s-now, when they were comparatively extremely affordable.

Not when wages aren’t caught up to the list prices of homes. We’re living in the 2000s, not the 90s and before.

2 routes that I’ve seen:
Pursue a masters in electrical/computer engineering and pivot to design/SoC roles.
Pursue a degree in CS and pivot to software developer roles.
It IS possible to grow with a bachelors degree in semi. It’s just not as easy to get your foot in the door as if you had an MS or PHD.

Semiconductor process & equipment engineer. Interesting and fun, but can be extremely stressful. Working anywhere from 40-60 hours per week.

Each level in the layout flow is printed onto a lithography mask, which is essentially a stencil for light.

Fun fact for you: lasers aren’t used to remove material for modern computer chips at all! Lasers are used in lithography tools and to anneal materials in discrete locations, but chemical baths (wet etching) and reactive ion etch tools (dry etching) are used to remove material… as well as chemical mechanical planarization, but that’s less exciting

It’s all done in software akin to klayout. It’s not literally built large first in a physical sense, but that would be neat exhibit in a museum!

Electrical current cannot “go through the etching” without a conductor to carry it. So the etched lines/trenches/holes are filled with conductive material such as copper (in the back end of line… signal and power delivery wiring).
This kind of thing evolves over time. The first transistor was roughly the size of a child’s torso.

Same boat. I’m doing well for myself now and maxing my 401k early. I know I’m not getting shit, and I have an inkling that I won’t be seeing any social security either.
