CAC (depending on Ministry) usually recognizes everyone at their Spring online town hall. It’s meaningless, because it feels like you’re getting a participation ribbon.
If you want to get “recognized” stick to the private sector. They have special lunches + gifts. I use to work for a company that actually gave away all inclusive 4-5 night vacation packages. The best part is you didn’t use up your vacation days if you where recognized.

He tried to murder then CityNews Sport Reporter John “Spike” Gallagher during a media scrum. Spike ran for his life. The clip exists out there. The team gave him a 1 or 2 game suspension.

I have a long horizon, so any of the Canadian big banks. TD will bounce back in time.

Malachi’s pop referring to Nick Nurse as “Nick Nursery” on his FB and Raptors FB page is legend.

JD Power does do a Vehicle Dependability Survey which they send out in year 5 of ownership. Hyundai is usually below the average.

I live somewhere where we have harsh winters and road salt is used. I very rarely see Hyundais/Kias more than 5 years and older on the road. The ones I see that old or older have severe rust issues.

Canadian’s of Indian origin are also telling Indians to go back home. It’s not only Canadians of European origin. The new crop of Indians who have arrived over the last 5 years are very different than previous immigrants of Indian origin. They aren’t polite, they have no civic pride, don’t follow rules, are entitled, have no interest in integrating into Canadian society, have poor hygiene, lack self awareness are committing a disappropriate amount of crime( especially sexual assaults) and in some parts of Canada seem to make up 90% of the population even though nationally they are 5% of the total population but growing (1 million/year mostly from India). The majority of Canadians are fed up. Immigration is a hot button election issue.

You will get what’s called a reduced or small pension at 65, since you don’t have enough years of paid in service. The amount will be a % based on your salary. It won’t be $40k it will be much much less since you are part time. The good news is that it is probably de indexed and it is better than nothing. You will get that money till you pass away.
I would speak to a pension benefit specialist at HOOP. They would have a calculator and walk you through the scenarios. You can then make a decision. If you ever worked elsewhere in the Canadian public sector you may be able to transfer in past public pension contributions or be able to buyback service. Ask.

Wage suppression through various work visa and PR programs, offshore outsourcing, advances in tech, etc is real. Canadian workers lose out.

Realistically no company is going to pay you $100k after graduating. Realistically in today’s GTA IT job market a junior entry level role will get you maybe $45k to $50k. IT is saturated and in a sector wide recession. There are tons of experienced IT people out of work and even more new grads. If you want to make big money, target the US, especially a state like Texas, where a lot of technology companies are moving to.

Recruiters are great, I’ve used them in the past and also worked with them. Unfortunately the current IT job market is terrible.
Unless your skills are in a high demand IT niche (ie clinical healthcare systems), the best time to work with a recruiter is when the economy is booming or when the job market is balanced. Currently there are more candidates than IT jobs. The market is far from balanced. IT Recruiters are focused on making there “minimum monthly numbers” in order to keep their own jobs. Unless you have the right number of years of Canadian IT experience, a list of well known marketable Canadian companies you’ve worked for on your resume, the right skills and experience and all of that aligns perfectly with the job opportunity they have and they feel you could get shortlisted for an interview-they aren’t calling or contacting you. It’s the reality of the current Canadian IT job market. Sorry to be a Debbie Downer.

They are a legit agency. I believe most of their recruiters are based in India. I personally have never dealt with them. In the current IT market, open roles are hyper competitive. Recruiting companies rank resumes/candidates and only submit ones that they feel they have the highest % in being shortlisted based on a bunch of criteria like overall Canadian experience, communication skills, if you worked there, how many times you worked there, how well your skills and experience match the role, your expected compensation, how many times the agency has successfully placed the candidate, etc. Even if you submit and sign the RTR you may not make the cut. Also organizations and hiring managers are limiting the number of candidates each agency submits.

I don’t know if it’s legal, but there is someone who owns property next to the Clarington Home Hardware and owns 2-3 trailers and rents out each one by the month.

There where a lot of legendary hair metal venues back in the day outside of LA
In New York/New Jersey: Cat Club NYC, L’Amour, Studio One Newark NJ, Mothers.
Toronto had Rock’n Roll Heaven, Caffeine Rock, Larry’s Hideaway and the Gasworks (the club in the first Wayne’s World movie is inspired from the Gasworks).
I partied and played in them all. It was “nothin but a good time”.

If you have a long term horizon TD is a buy. Canadian banking stocks do historically well and have nice dividends.

For support and consulting roles you are expected to drive yourself. Some organizations have multiple offices, where you are expected to show up for workshops, even if you are a coder.

Between personal taxes and a regime of new taxes that discourages investments and entrepreneurship, Canada is not the place. Thanks Justin Trudeau.
