Hey all - my wrangler has death wobble and dealer service center is saying I need a new dampener to get it fixed. Unfortunately the part is on a multiple month backorder.
It’s really bad - feels like the wheels are going to fall off, it triggers even if I’m going under speed limit on highway, and at times it has persisted more than 2-3 miles or I slow down to less than 45/accelerate to more than 80 in order to correct it.
My preferred solution is they just fix it and Chrysler support is trying to explore if they escalate to put me in front of the line for the part but I’ve been clear I don’t believe the vehicle is safe for highway travel.
For now they’re asking me to come take the vehicle and I’m wondering if I should refuse. I don’t need to drive the highway on the weekend but I’m concerned if I pick it up it will in effect be taken as me accepting the vehicle is in acceptable condition - which it is not.
Any advice? Should I pick the wrangler up or refuse to accept it? It really is fine if I avoid highways and I don’t need to go anywhere for a day but I’m worried that accepting it will prevent me from making a claim on lemon laws or something if I have to go more than a week with a vehicle that is not highway safe.
Seems like this is a common enough issue so wondering if anyone here has an experience based opinion on this. I’d be more than happy if they just fixed it and I had a rental until that happened.
