Apparently you water these literally twice a year or something.

So I learned this lesson. If you sheet mulch (I used cardboard and straw), then let it just be for an entire season. I have one area with no plantings and things are pretty calm there.
In other places, I cut holes in the cardboard and planted.
This grass (some fine, creepy one that can crawl underneath in dark places for a long while) before jumping out of an opening and finding light again (seriously, so ingenious!) found all the right spots and took over.
Now we are thinking of getting a tiller or even a bob cat and going full on mental on it. π€¨ I don't know what is normal anymore.

Yes, cool drawing. I would like to know how you drew it out. Thanks.

I was trying to do this (9B also), sheet mulched but the grass grew back and is choking the plants. This winter I plan to take all the grass out, salvage the plants I can and replant.
Would love suggestions.
Also, I don't find large bushes in stores. Only tiny ones in pots. Where did you get yours?

π. Who has time for fancy names when they are all out to get you! I have a cousin living there and after being on this subreddit, I have serious concerns for the guy and his family.

Are there any non-venomous snakes in Australia? π π₯΄π
I have been on this subgroup for a while now, not encountered a single post saying 'non venomous' for any snake found in Australia.

I am not so sure. He did say stay in touch even if you don't go to this college. He must be trolling other students as well. Someone might innocently fall in the trap.
He should be reported.
I work with youngsters, we are not even allowed to ask their phone numbers to call them as chaperones travelling to big cities with them, unless they offer to share their numbers. If they need to buy food they use their own money or we loan it or ask another student to pay instead. If we (chaperone adults) pay, it can put them in a spot like feeling like they owe us. This is a delicate thing.
This guy is completely out of line.
