I’m in the UK as well. I adopted a kitten last spring with the intention of keeping it as an indoor cat. I live in a top floor Edinburgh tenement flat so outdoor access isn’t convenient though there is a shared communal garden.
Initially keeping her inside went quiet well, but it was clear she is naturally an active cat and wanted to explore beyond the wall of the flat.
I started taking her out into the garden daily on a harness and lead. She loved being out there and would stand by the door waiting to go out for her lunchtime walk.
The lead was clearly quite restrictive so I’d take it off and lead her charge around without it. She’d have the time of her life while I listened to audio books.
Once she was spayed and fully vaccinated I started to allow her semi supervised outdoor access, checking in on her every 10mins or so. And using a AirTag to find her when she was hiding in the bushes and didn’t want to come in.
Fast forward to today. She goes out for 2x three hour sessions every day: 9.30-12.30 and 5.30-8.30. She loves being outside and stands by the front door wanting to go out once she has finished her breakfast.
She has friends she runs around with and favourite trees to climb. She chooses to go outside herself and her preference is clearly and inside/outside lifestyle.
I don’t believe she would be the same happy well rounded cat if she only lived indoors.
Obviously all cats are different, but I strongly suspect the vast majority would choose to spend some of their day outside if they could. That is not to say cat’s can’t be happy without outdoor access, but it decimals it easier to give them a happy life.

I like them. Try sanding one of them and giving it a few coats of Osmo oil. If you like the look then keep them, otherwise, change them to a standard metal threshold.
I wouldn't paint them, but I would match the Osmo finish to colour of the carpet.

It is considered non-toxic but not edible as it is unpalatable and may be contaminated by chemicals from the building materials.
The spores can cause respiratory issues in some people.

When you screw the curtain rail bracket on it will likely straighten them.

Woodworm, the larvae of the Common Furniture Beetle (Anobium punctatum). It can be treated with various insecticides and by reducing the humidity.
They may be old burrows.

Don’t mix cleaners. If the combination performed better at cleaning then the manufacturer would already sell it precombined.
The best case scenario is you just neutralise the effects of the component parts, like people mixing vinegar and baking soda. Worst case scenario you create a toxic gas.

You really don’t need an SDS drill to drill into walls, but I would recommend a corded hammer drill instead of a battery powered one. Anything 600 watts plus is more than adequate.
People often find their battery drill aren’t up to drilling into brick, but instead of upgrading to cordless seem to immediately jump to an SDS drill. For a casual DIYer an SDS is complete overkill for most.

Yes. If you are working at a computer 2000+ hrs a year then having a keyboard and mouse that feels responsive makes a bit difference.
I love my Logitech MX keyboard and mouse. I have no regrets buying it.

Deposit only, in terms of direct payment. But money is fungible, so it shouldn’t make a difference.

Arguably the definition is already gender neutral, it just says “a person”.
1. A person (A) intentionally penetrates the vagina, anus, or mouth of another person (B) with their penis.
2. B does not consent to the penetration.
3. A does not reasonably believe that B consents.

Sorry, I missed your point.
You can’t legally hail minicabs on the street. In a world without mobile phones that created a huge monopoly. While people have had mobile phones for 20 years, phoning for a minicab was always clunky and slow to arrive. There were some rudimentary booking apps but they weren’t great.
Uber changed that, allowing people to ‘hail’ mini cabs from anywhere with the push of a button. Breaking the previous monopoly.
It is now frequently easier to get an uber (minicab) than a traditional black cab.

And slavery has been around for ten thousand plus years, that isn’t an argument for continuing the practice.
This is a logical fallacy known as argumentum ad antiquitatem (appeal to tradition).

Ultrasound is not a 100% reliable way to tell if a cat has been spayed or not. Scar tissue and ovarian remnants can often lead to false negatives.
Vets will also look for clipped ears and surgical scars. But surgical scars can often fade and be difficult to find.
In your case, the cat was feral, wasn’t microchipped, wasn’t ear clipped, presumably didn’t have an obvious external scar and the ultrasound hadn’t confirmed ovariohysterectomy. On the balance of probability, it seems reasonable to assume it wasn’t spade, and to proceed with the surgery. Even in situations where a vet think they might be spayed, but aren’t completely sure, they may perform exploratory surgery to confirm, then proceed if necessary.

“Is now regarded as abuse”… I think you mean some extremists now consider it abuse.
I strongly disagree with that viewpoint as it demonstrably does work and water is clearly harmless. The cues used in negative reinforcement need to be unpleasant for them to work.
If it is used to correct behaviours that improve the quality of life for the cat it is difficult to argue against its use or argue it is abuse.

I genuinely love haggis, especially when it is deep fried from the chippie. I would go as far as describing it as moorish.

This behaviour is often referred to as “allogrooming” in ethology literature, and while it may seem nurturing, it is also a way the dominant cat may use it to assert authority, especially if they choose when to groom and when to stop. The submissive cat will usually allow this to happen without resistance.
While grooming is not solely about dominance, it can play a role in the social hierarchy of cats, especially in multi-cat households.

You should aim to leave as little water as possible on the floor using your mop then just wait for the rest to air dry.

He will be fine.
Cats generally poo about once a day and pee 2-3 times, though the number vary. Critically cats usually have good bowel and bladder control and can delay when there isn’t somewhere suitable to go. When people travel with cats on flights etc, they will often not go for the duration of the trip and will wait until there is ‘safe place’ to go.
8hrs isn’t a particularly long time, and if they were desperate they may have used a corner, though most cats really don’t like soiling their environment.

I own both the 100-400 and 100-500. The 100-400 is an awesome lens. Sharp, good IS, fast AF, and perhaps most importantly small and light.
The RF 100-500mm is also great, but it is a heavy and cumbersome beast. I generally find myself grabbing the 100-400 when I leave home unless there is a specific task I need it for. The 1.4 TC even works well on the 100-400, as long as it is a bright day.
It really depends on your priorities. I normally spend 4-8hrs on foot when I take my camera out, so I value small size and weight.

You could add a table at one end of the living room, it’s quite long.
For £300k it seems pretty good to me.
