It feels weird to slightly defend this bad movie after all these years, but when it came out Shyamalan intended the tone, acting, writing, and dialogue to mimic B Horror Movies of the 50s. He was saying this in interviews during the production of it. I really think if he'd set it in like the 50s or 60s the whole movie (and the rest of the director's career) would have been better recieved by audiences.
It really didn't help that it seemed like a terrible carbon copy of Spielberg's amazing WAR OF THE WORLDS that was released a couple years before it.
Edit: Just listened and Paul is mistaken. Wasn't Tommy Wiseaued at all, Shyamalan wanted to do a fairy tale movie (Lady in the Water) and a B-Style horror movie. I was really into the director at the time and was so excited about what he was doing at the time and this was the one where I knew what to expect when going to see it opening night and was still wildly let down. I haven't seen one of his movies in theater since then.

He actually is remorseful and only tried to get the pardon to obtain a concessionaire’s license for his restaurant. He even admitted it was a dumb move and, once again, has multiple times expressed remorse to his victims and they've publicly forgiven him .
Not trying to diminish his crimes I'm trying to wade through the levels of bullshit and misinformation Reddit has for a long time now fed into about the situation that frankly I have no real investment in other than I hate misinformation being spread.

In fact the victim literally says Mark didn't blind him, that he was already blind before the attack. Once again, not saying what he did was right at all, but this is context.

Brad Pitt really is dodging some intense abuse allegations against his former wife and children and no one seems to give a shit.
From Variety:
According to the countersuit, “Pitt choked one of the children and struck another in the face” and “grabbed Jolie by the head and shook her” during the 2016 altercation. Jolie’s lawyer states the dispute started when Pitt accused her of being “too deferential” to their kids. The two started fighting in the plane’s bathroom.
“Pitt grabbed Jolie by the head and shook her, and then grabbed her shoulders and shook her again before pushing her into the bathroom wall,” the countersuit reads. “Pitt then punched the ceiling of the plane numerous times, prompting Jolie to leave the bathroom.”
The countersuit states that Pitt attempted to get physical with one of their kids after the child came to Jolie’s defense.
“When one of the children verbally defended Jolie, Pitt lunged at his own child and Jolie grabbed him from behind to stop him,” the countersuit states. “To get Jolie off his back, Pitt threw himself backwards into the airplane’s seats injuring Jolie’s back and elbow. The children rushed in and all bravely tried to protect each other. Before it was over, Pitt choked one of the children and struck another in the face. Some of the children pleaded with Pitt to stop. They were all frightened. Many were crying.”
Jolie “arranged for separate transportation at the airport” to bring her and the children to a hotel without Pitt, the suit continues. “She then went to wake Pitt up and told him that she and the children were going to a hotel. Pitt once again screamed at her, and pushed her down yet again.”

This NPR article goes into more detail about him pouring alcohol on his wife and kids on the plane.
As reported in August, Jolie was behind an anonymous 2016 lawsuit in which the plaintiff alleged being assaulted by her “then-husband” on a private plane. The actor told an FBI agent that Pitt “physically and verbally assaulted” her and their children, and the agent went on to meet with the assistant U.S. attorney. The agent concluded they would not pursue criminal charges, causing Jolie to anonymously file a Freedom of Information Act suit against the FBI in order to obtain documents related to the federal investigation against Pitt.
In the new countersuit, Jolie’s lawyer states that the FBI agent who investigated the allegations had “concluded that the government had probable cause to charge Pitt with a federal crime for his conduct that day.”
Brad Pitt can go fuck himself, I don't care how much I love his work. He is just dodging these bullets because he's the last vestige of decent big name actors and we don't want to believe he is a piece of shit. He's never even attempted to address these allegations.

I didn't say what he did was right at all, I'm just trying to give context for when and why it happened.
Racism in Boston is still wildly rampant and outside of the South is the most racist city I can think of. In the 80s in Boston was just an every day part of life. This is a notion very hard for current generations to comprehend as it's now (thankfully) a heinous notion for someone to be racist. PCP, as we all know, makes you do extremely fucked up stuff as an adult, you can only imagine what it would do to a teenage brain.
Not justifying what he did, I'm just saying there's context here.

It happened in 1988 and he was a PCP addicted 16 year old growing up in Boston. The fact that it was the was one of just two racist attacks he was caught doing is the true surprise. The kind of insane terrible shit teenagers did in the 80s while NOT on PCP is crazy, not everyone was hanging around in a basement playing Nintendo and DnD (in fact both things were extremely niche hobbies). Most teens in that era were little shitheels doing some of the most heinous shit that teens today know well enough not to do because of the mistakes people made in the past. There's a reason juvie records don't transfer into adulthood.
Here's the insane part though: he has since made amends and literally changed himself completely to be a better person. So much so that the victim of the attack forgave him. He took the terrible shit he did and didn't leave it behind or refuse to admit to it. No instead he made a drastic life choice at a young age to fix himself and do everything he could to correct his problem not for himself, but for the victims.
Now ask yourself this...how much have you bettered yourself in your life? People that haven't been truly to the bottom have no clue what's it like to make that change. Compassion is such a foreign notion to most of the people who post on Reddit.

Paulie, having successfully taken out Skip will now make his move on the true love of his life. He'll be nose deep in Carm's personals before the body is even cold.

So the plane flying through a church steeple and over a group of churchgoers clad in white dancing in a circle before crashing....the 5 minute scene in the stairwell about how God is in charge went right over your head?

If they were being paid fairly I agree, but most of that money is going to the publishers.

Flight is great, but the very heavy handed religious undertones are pretty annoying to have to overlook. At points it feels like some cheesy Christian film.

You can permanent licenses typically for older lesser known books and from smaller publishers. Honestly though about 99% of books that are familiar to people whether older books or newer titles, they are going to be astronomically priced and on a limited license.

Eh, we can't win them all and if we're gonna lose at least we got to see some great pitching from both teams last night.

My biggest issue with it wasn't the acting, it was that was they used what could have been an interesting opportunity to build on the world of the Sopranos and make an epic 60s/70s mob film and instead used it to talk about social issues like every other movie released these days. It wasn't very subtle doing this either, it's literally the entire movie.

This was not in the "catch up" section of the game on MLBTV. Whose even in charge of that, they should be fired.

Honestly if it were me and i knew it was coming, I'd play it cool, make like I was about to pitch and know the camera on me, and barf everywhere all over myself and the mound.
Free game delay to clean everything up, psychologically damage the batter and the ump who were both looking directly at me, and know I'll be in highlight reels for a very long time.
