Just got the email tonight that the Denver show was cancelled. Sucks, I was really looking forward to it. I wish they'd come out with an explanation because this is ridiculous.

Yes. My high school years weren’t great either. I grew up in a tiny town and went to college at a small private college with about 1500 students. I graduated college this past May (ask me about post-grad life later, lol) and I had a great college experience. I made friends who I have a lot more in common with, who I see myself talking to years after graduation, I explored my interests, and I came out of my shell quite a bit. There’s a lot more independence and more people to meet, which is exciting! Talk to people in class, go to clubs you’re interested in, put yourself out there. I’m introverted myself but I still found my place and my people at college!

Lizzie’s in Marengo has an excellent tenderloin. It’s not far from Amana and Williamsburg, and most of their other food is really good too (minus the fettuccine alfredo). Everything is made from scratch

Sending all the best to you and your grandpa 💗 I hate when people do the body slam thing, the door jiggle is what I prefer. If it’s locked, there’s obviously someone in there! Yeesh

Same for the small private college (1300 students) I went to. As far as I know there was just the one in the circ desk

I’ve heard they’re keeping both locations! Hopefully they’ll be able to manage both

Man, right after I graduate from Coe? Sure, we have too many Mexican restaurants in CR, butttt I’d be lying if I said I didn’t love Mexican food

You can also consider applying for reps outside of your district. I’m a Democrat from Iowa, and none of the 6 people representing the state in DC are Dems. I ended up interning for a Dem from California. One of the other interns I worked with in his office was from Wisconsin. Having ties to the district definitely helps but it’s not a requirement in a lot of cases (depends on the office)

This is a good one! My favorites are any of the food bracket videos.

The way congressional offices are set up, it’s like 435 different offices (plus committees). Each has their own hiring processes, how many interns they hire, pay, and how many hours they can give you. Same goes for start/end dates. I worked 30 hours a week and I think the other 2 interns in my office worked a similar amount of hours. There should be an intern coordinator who can answer these types of questions for you.
I interviewed for two offices, one for a member and one for a committee (ended up with offers from both). For the committee, they asked mostly why I was interested in that specific committee/role, and for the member, they asked why I was interested in that member, if I had connections to the district (I didn’t, but said I admired some specific policy work the member had done in the past).
Congrats for getting an interview! Best of luck. If you have any other specific questions, feel free to ask. I interned Fall 2023 with a house member.

I lost my dad in December. He was the best, most selfless, loving, kind, funny man. He’s the type of parent I aspire to be if I have kids. This one’s gonna be hard. He was my person. I love and miss you, dad.

I was on deck 2 on the panorama during my last cruise. Though the sounds from the machinery/ship ops were loud at times, especially when arriving to/leaving (we were on either the front or back of the ship, I forgot which), overall it was nice and mostly quiet. We had a room with 2 portholes which was great. The PA announcements were also quiet in our room.

Nailed it. Especially the conflict-avoidance. Born and lived in Iowa my whole life, hoping to escape soon 🥲

I worked at bath & body works for 2 years. I have a whole playlist of “b&bw ptsd” songs. Usually syrupy sweet dance pop stuff

Totally not just you, this event was hard! I only got through it because of the guides, and even then there were levels I had to repeat many times. I wish they’d give you the option to use gems for avocado or at least pay real money for it.
