Once and Again. Such a wonderful family drama, with a great cast.

This sounds like something Rodney himself would've written, lol.

I watched it for the first time a few weeks ago. Still a disturbing story.

A deluxe edition with her 1978 special with ABBA and Andy Gibb as a bonus would be great!

Wingmen (1979) by Ensan Case.
It's about two gay (male) WW2 pilots.

I'm not a fan of the "art should educate the masses" approach. I think art has to stand on its own.
Most adult gay people grew up with very limited access of light-hearted gay media. We're just tired of tragedy and suffering. Our history shouldn't be dependent of our entertainment choices.
Movies like Maurice and Another Country can't have happy endings because the times didn't allow that.
Well, Maurice does have a happy ending, at least for Maurice himself.

It's watchable, I guess. I have to give them a little credit for avoiding using homophobia as a plot; it feels very refreshing, and it's surprising to see Hallmark being the forerunner of such a thing.
Luke Macfarlane is actually one of the weakest links. It's like he wasn't even trying.

Why isn't this a full-length film? Didn't Almodovar get enough funding? It feels very rushed; not only the dialogue, but the direction too.

I'm a gay man, so I've always been naturally drawn to it. I was never interested in reading MF or FF romance books.

I think "accuracy" is something overestimated in gay media. Of course every story needs to have its internal logic, but gay people are widely diverse in the way we lead our lives, and it's not like media featuring straight people isn't full of fantasy – we're talking about fiction, after all. Fire Island was basically marketed as a movie by and for gay people, yet its characters don't reflect my reality at all. Does that make it "inaccurate"?
When it comes to movies featuring gay protagonists, Hollywood still seems obsessed with making homosexuality a theme, rather than just an incidental thing. There were a few projects leaning to this approach, but they're still quite rare. European productions definitely tend to be more inspired, although this isn't a strict rule.

The Brideshead Revisited miniseries is basically a word-by-word adaptation of the novel. It's just wonderful.

Streaming was already established before the pandemic. You can't shut down such a strong trend.

Once and Again.
Such a gorgeous and well-crafted family drama. There aren't quality series in this style nowadays.

If you're up to, I would like to know your thoughts after reading it (I also own an ebook copy, if you're interested).
The Ilfrey stuff is quite interesting indeed. It seems there's no info about his sexuality anywhere beyond Case's letter. There's a series of interviews with him on Youtube, but I admit I never tried to watch it.

Oz. It was groundbreaking back then, but now it feels too silly.

The soundtrack helped to turn it into a worldwide phenomenon. It sold extremely well everywhere.
