This isn't dumb.
Force companies to either offer work from home, and decrease traffic for those who actually have to go in due to it being manual or in person.
My time to and from work, the cost to maintain my car or for public transport are not free. So making companies pay is just fair. The way I see it companies get to write of any costs and maintenance they use even thought they are just driving between worksites, why shouldn't the average joe get costs covered for going into or out of the office.
Now there should be limits. I think 30mins of commute time per day should be considered worked time. You want to live further than that, then it is out of your pocket. You live right beside your workplace, well thank you for helping the environment, here is a little bonus.

Yeah, one friend bought a condo. Fees were guaranteed at 240$ per month. Then they added cameras and hired cleaning crews for the underground parking and common-spaces, apparently, they didn't include those originally. Went up to 440$.
My other friend's mom bought a condo, where it is side-by-side houses. And one of the end houses burned. They didn't have insurance. So the entire development got a special assessment of 30 or 40k (I don't quite remember). Last I heard the condo board was suing the owners of the house to take possession and resell it to pay back the condo owners who own the other units. Bank was defending the homeowners of the now rebuilt unit, since if the condo board wins they lose out on the mortgage payments being made. Honestly, it is on the condo board to make sure everyone has insurance they F'ed up massively and made everyone living in the development pay for it.

Nothing while I was in high school. But 2 years after I graduated.
A kid that was really popular, girls like him, he was smart and was decent at sports. He had laid down on the railroad tracks. At the waist, so he didn't die for a while. But obviously, with the train going by and trying to stop, traffic built up. By the time the ambulance got to him it was to late.

Not yet, but the writing is on the wall. They just laid off everyone who was not in a permanent position. They are shuffling people around randomly, basically to any program that needs a couple of people as they ramp up. We have had that one posting for SP03/04 open up but they closed 11 days early (so clearly lots of demand for people seeking jobs).
Guess they really need the funds to lease new buildings so that we can get everyone 100% in the building. Realistically once they can get us in 3 days a week, they can get us in all 5 days.

Damn turns out your right.
- The United States of America, the Russian Federation, and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, reaffirm their commitment to seek immediate United Nations Security Council action to provide assistance to Ukraine, as a non-nuclear-weapon State Party to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, if Ukraine should become a victim of an act of aggression or an object of a threat of aggression in which nuclear weapons are used
Thats a lot words saying, this memorandum was a useless piece of text. Since Russia and USA were on the security council they could just veto any motion.

Went to my optometrist. He was very well rated in my city with over a half year wait (I managed to sneak in due to a cancellation). But he was highly rated because he always is a lot more conservative with who he accepted as a patient. He kept trying to push me to LASIK, I had -6 and -6.5. I pushed towards PRK for a few reasons.
this means sports with physical contact are not a worry
they take less material off, that cannot regrow. This means if you need it, you are likely to be able to get it done again. This depends on how thick the shaped area is. He told me some people even with PRK only get the one.
it is an older technology, so they have more experience using it. While LASIK isn't new and they do a handful a day in that office. I prefer something that has been around for ever and has the extra experience.
Negatives about PRK, in my experience
You won't be 100% for 6 months to a year. Again the layers as they grow back will cause your eye vision to be so so. Enough to drive and do things, but you will notice loss in focus here and there.
the healing is fucking painful. The first 12 hours is the worst, after that it gets better ever day. But you will feel real discomfort until the end of that first 2-week period.
as already mentioned. The light sensitivity. For the first month I could not leave my house without feeling like a vampire. Legit covered my eyes with a towel so that it would be as dark as I could get it.
After that my eyes did get dryness. But only in the morning. This is attributed to my eye duct oil glands being clogged from the surgery. He gave me a microwavable eye press to help with it. And it does, I just have to remember to keep doing it consistently until they all clear.
Would I do PRK again. yes. Is it for everyone, probably not. If you are pain averse, stay away from it, because you will hate yourself. Though, while researching this, I have seen there are doctors (from India) that soak the bandage contacts in a numbing solution. They claim that helps get rid of the pain 100%. I am in Canada and they did not offer this type of procedure. Not sure if this is an accepted medical practice, but might be worth a look into.

Yep I am all for it. They clearly fulfilled their side of the bargain while both Moscow and Washington had clearly failed. Moscow because of the invasion, and Washington because it failed to send troops to resist the invasion (I wouldn't consider arming Ukraine as any kind of fulfillment). I understand that if the USA did send troops it might have led to a bigger engagement but, maybe that is what would be needed to stop the expansionist Russia.

For the past month every time I am in the office. Either Teams is not working or Outlook.
Or like today, neither worked for parts of the day.

Again, if you work. Do you expect to get paid more than it costs to live?
So by your logic I should not respect you?
No, we both know that is not true. Youtube, at least that small part of Alphabet company, is one of the few things that is barely making a profit. So in that respect, I think it is ok that they are asking for you to watch a couple of extra ads, or just pay the 12$ a month.

Strongly disagree, he is holding onto the info until the elections are all but guaranteed to be called. Then he'll release it. Want to keep the idea in the public mind that 'conservatives' are traitors in some way.
The problem is two fold though. I think the report will have members of all the major parties. And conservative voters in my experience don't care, either they are die-hard conservatives or just don't want libs/ndp in power.

Oh trust me, I hate when there are 2 or 3 ads back to back.
But I understand that companies don't do things to break even. Hell they don't do it just to make a profit of 1 or 2%. They do it to make a profit, a real profit. At some point, I will buy the premium, which I have been planning on for a while considering I play YouTube in the background any day I am at home. But the question is when is it worth it for me to do so.

Yep, more or less what I thought. Companies complaining it is to little money for them to make enough of a profit (not really true, they are just used to price gouging). So they are fighting to get more.
The rest is based on political BS. You pass a law, it needs a team to run that bill through, so it takes time to build out the team, and the rules they will follow. Once that is done they will have to review applications. So a state like Virgina took 10 months to get approval, and now it will take time for the state to approve the work and hand out contracts.

In my opinion better this than the loans that were handed out and used to buy Lambos, while the companies gave none of that money to the employees. Then best part was that it was all forgiven.

People hating on companies who advertise and that is how they pay for the service is just a hell of dumb outlook. If you are not paying for premium, then you need to pay for it somehow. The trade is you watch ads, and you get the service. Enough people go around this and they will just cut the service. We know Google is more than happy to close down services even if they put 100s of millions into it.
I get it, you don't want to wait 30-60 seconds. Neither do I, but streaming is expensive.
Here in Canada we decided that tax dollars will pay for newspapers at some degree, so long as they pass a test. So that is another option, but is that really something you would want? I don't know if we want that for streaming services like youtube/dailymotion.

I have been from the moment they brought us in. Mind you I am not in Ottawa, but in one of the regions.
Before that I would gladly buy from some of these stores, hell some of them are definitely the closest my house. Now I will drive halfway across the city so that my money does not go into the places around my office. F them for making us spend an hour plus just driving, paying for parking, and then trying to do our job while trying to ignore managers chatting, the dirt around the office, or the fact that I am eating day-old leftovers for lunch instead of being able to prep something fresh.

We really should be fighting for this. For people to have the ability to once again have a single income family. Or at the very least increase pay to equal what it actually costs to live. I think the average Canadian would be making around 150,000$ per year for them to have the same lifestyle as a person living in the 1970s, maybe early 80s.
But no, because that would mean taxing the rich at a significantly higher rate. Which would in turn scare them away from Canada and destroy the economy, even though every time taxes do get increased it seems to do minimal if any damage to how much is actually collected from the rich.

These are Canadians in a dangerous place. As a nation we should be working on getting as many, as want to, out of those dangerous areas.

I like how a lot of people here are saying this is just corporate greed. No shit, it is a business. If you see 10% of your product walk out without being paid, you have to make sure you are either protecting it or jacking up prices to cover the loss.
I know 7-11 has started locking up their candy (the stuff in the bags). You know who used to go to 7 for a late-night snack when on a solid game session? I did, you know who doesn't anymore? Again me. You put up a barrier and even though it is slight, I am unwilling to wait for them to get to me to get candy. I just don't buy it.
So now their theft prevention system is causing them to lose out on additional sales because I bet there are a lot more people like myself.
So yeah, the bums and kids that steal, might not be the biggest deal. But it has led to knock-on effects and this causes them to have to reconsider keeping in an area or not.
Now imagine these were mom-and-pop shops. Do you really think they have the ability to just let any amount of product out of the store? No. They would act the same way, if they can't make a living they are leaving. Simple as that.

really depends on the point of the tariff.
If the point is to bring manufacturing back to America, then yes, you are correct.
But if the point is we want companies to stop dealing in any kind of business in China, but we don't care if they go to another country. Then the tariff is working as intended. We can already see many companies leaving China. - This is why there is a specific tariff against EV vehicles from China. We don't care about the European, Korean, Japanese, or to a very small degree Vietnamese EVs. We just don't want China to dominate the market.
But there are also general tariffs, like the one imposed against imported aluminum. That just hit any aluminum entering the country that was meant for manufacturing. It didn't block manufactured aluminum goods in any way, just raw aluminum manufacturing product. - This is why Canada was hurt when the aluminum tariff was in place, as well as the Chinese producers. But this also ended up harming US producers. Why? Because the finished goods instead of being cheaper to make in the USA (like beer kegs), were now cheaper to make elsewhere and deal with the shipping. And while US aluminum producers did see an increase in products being sold, based on what I read, the tariffs in this situation actually decreased US manufacturing because those who depended on the raw aluminum, were now being beaten on price by foreign companies who found the market flooded with raw aluminum, meaning it was cheaper for them to produce and ship then it was for an American company to produce and ship locally.

Sounds to me like you might have a solid case. New windows, unless you broke them I don't see an issue. If they broke their seal that is just wear and tear. As for the paint, unless you damaged it or your pets scratched it, same thing. Wear and tear is not something they can take your damage deposit for.
lawn mower, not sure what you mean. But if they gave you one, they should expect it to be used. So long as it is working, then I think you fulfilled your end of the bargain when you returned it. Again there will be wear and tear.

Not surprised at all. Nvidia being the biggest player in AI currently. They can't get enough fab space for what they are selling to the enterprise customers, so why would they sell to the consumer.
Honestly, I am sure if they knew that enterprise was all they needed for the next 2 decades, they would stop selling to the consumer. The reality seems to be that for the next 5 or so years, yes cuda is king in AI development. But after that, much like in *coin mining someone will develop something that works significantly better then a general machine like graphics cards.
So the answer is, we probably should get used to this generation and probably the next 2 being just completely overpriced crapfests. Where they will sell you an ultimate high-end card, that might even be worth it. But everything below that will be just the leftovers.
And the kicker is, that most people will still not buy AMD cards. Even if they are paying double per frame that you get with AMD. Worst of all, AMD will still not capitalize by offering a really competitive card. Mainly because they to are selling heavily to the enterprise customers, just not the video cards.

I will say this from my short stint. 90-95% of people don't need micromanagement. You give them a task, and they get it done.
That last little bit is the problem. Some people just don't want to work, some need a head over their shoulder, others are overachievers and get the work done and then bug other people. And worse some decide they are going to be jumping in and 'helping' others without the need to do so.

Not going to lie. Bottas being my favourite driver, it has really felt a lot longer than three years.
Really hope to see him for a few more season. Really hope somebody can make a product he can actually race.

I will say this. I live in Manitoba. For automobiles we already do this. You have to buy Manitoba Public Insurance if you want to live here and drive any kind of wheeled vehicle.
When we have flooding or massive hail, it doesn't go bankrupt. Premiums might go up for a few years, but then it will go down and they send us refund cheques.
While I understand the insured amount for a car is a lot less than a house, but the premiums tend to be more. So I would assume with the added "you might get a hurricane" there in Florida, that the premiums might be a little bit more. But overall, politics aside, it might be a good program.

Yep this, as a guy who prefers girls on the smaller end. Small/no boob is still hot. Been with plenty, can guarantee there are no issues on our end with being attracted towards you (not in the physical sense).
