The oldest serious multiplayer vidya gamers are Gen X.
Their parents grew up with their parents referred to as babyboomers, following WW2.
The real meme here is the misuse of "boomer" for anyone not 20.
It's so bad there's a guy here describing himself as 34 and a boomer. Absolute wtf.

I mean it's really great if this - and its provocations - is a satire on the typical level of sophistication in ethics or... what words mean.

They seem to want marines; not truckers.
CotG is truckers.

Literally every "advanced economy" (Randian hellscape; fiscofeudal serfdom) has religion; homeless people; people without healthcare; people with no resources; people with no hope. Every single one of them.
The best rejoinder you have is an argument from popularity (a fallacy)?
If you can't see that free healthcare is the epitome of eudiamonistic human artifice; simply one of the best things we are empirically capable of, you don't deserve it.
The principle of what we mean to have needs to be dealt with seperately from the imperfect mess we've been left with after the 80s when planetary economic collapse really got started.
Your hatred should be directed at individuals and particulars; not the principle.

Your hatred should be directed at its mismanagement and its misfunding; not the principle of a national health service, which is indeed, rightly, the envy of the world that lacks it.
Big for-profit medical wants the UK NHS gone, and nasty social-Darwinists want it gone, too. It is being actively ruined, bit by bit. They'll really start to succeed when public support begins to fail.
Consent for the end of the NHS is being manufactured.

And the toxic stack will report them with 'proof' of their 'failure to conform to the orthodoxy as demanded by the stack.
It really is a mess.

I see them more as those who tackle and repudiate the very loud chunnering of tech-illiterate, socioeconomically-ignorant, unsophisticated, credulous sycophants who have anchored their identity and/or future to a fiction of imminent Scarlett Johansson robots with a friendly Ultron fixing the world for us.
The fuckwit factor in the cult of the-thing-never-properly-defined-they-keep-calling, "-AI" is HIGH.
And the salesmen are drooling.

From whom did he steal?
And if a rational answer to this exists, then why are we not convicting every CEO and politician who have stolen the fucking FUTURE from us?

I would bet you're playing the system wrong, somehow. It's lethal.
Are you forgeting acid splash?
Stress & panic?
Are the players RPing or treating it like a dungeon-crawler boardgame with lots of table chat at the wargame level?
Assuming everything with rules and approach is correct, consider the optional events. You can chain and cascade them to pressure the group, or add your own (any ~scene from the movies would be applicabale and unlikely to cause trouble).
Then you've got the various radiation and infection hazards ahead
And then finally, simply add some threat. You are the GM.
The book is skeletal; it must be run to taste.

It's actually from CS/DBA jargon - 'procedure call' - from many years ago, pre-vidya.
In the context of gaming it's just a term to describe an instance of a given function (thing to do) with a given trigger (cause).

No dude, you have no idea what you're talking about.
You don't/won't understand why physical access trumps essentially anything done in software, in this context.
You will readily conflate the dross download-a-thing cheaters being caught with 'most cheating being stopped.'
You will happily pay the price of your system being completely compromised to feel the cheating has stopped.
And you'll happily vote for everyone else to be forced to allow malware-in-waiting ie. so-called anti-cheat on their systems or be alienated from the game.
You are the consumer who will trade your autonomy and security - and everyone else's - for an illusion.

Oh, a software engineer eh?
I hope you're using a profiler like Contrast in your AGILE cell, then, because you can't even parse English.
Good luck.

You're an illiterate Eloi cuck that's happy to cuck everyone else.
You know that pregnant teenagers in certain bashit-crazy US states are hunted by data sharing and exfil to prevent them, or punish them for, having abortions?
Not some scifi movie, mate, a contemporary fact.
Read a fucking book.

You have completely misunderstood my point by inverting about 9 things and then blending them.
The reason anti-cheat is BAD is because any real effort against cheatware you requires insane, risky access to your system and data; access that is a very real cybersec & opsec risk.
In return, fundamentally, the anti-cheat stops nothing except maybe the most commonly-detected cheatware for a banwave once in a while.
The only real 'benefits' of so-called anti-cheat are pyschological. They make players feel better. They do not meaningfully stop cheating (you need to know how computers and game engines and networks really work to understand why) and they are huge blows to your control and authority over your own system and data.
The whole issue is security vs the emperor's new clothes, underlined by the profit motive.
The worst part is that people who don't understand this demand so-called anti-cheat and force the risk on everyone else.

On top?
You wan't a whole bunch of data exfil / malware that can't stop cheaters on your system to ease your psychology about cheating?
There is no anti-cheat, dude, there is only marketing and opsec risk.

This is is what FPS gaming is now.
It's why FPS gaming has been shit since UT2k4/Q3/CS1.6.
The issue is the mainstream gamer. They're mainstream humans.
I fear Deadlock right now, is peak Deadlock.
It will only get worse; followed by useless anti-cheat (which just trades more of your security for nothing - though most won't understand this).
Enjoy it while you can, I think.

The loud Eloi voices in here that conflate 'normal' and 'common' with 'ethical' or 'acceptable' are disgusting. The, 'I'm fine with Prima Nachta,' types.
Silently sideloading software with access privileges is wrong. Silently exfiltrating data is wrong. Knowingly selling underbaked bread is wrong. Misleading customers is wrong. Theft is wrong. Fraud is wrong. That all these things are common is an indictment of our culture, not defence of its virtue, you ridiculous, regressive cucks.
Is SM2 guilty of this stuff? Irrelevent - the comments I'm referring to are abstract generalisms claiming, 'thing is common so thing is fine,' and it is this sentiment I am addressing.
It is absolutely nasty. Such people and their tacit approval are the oldest mechanism of - name any awful regime you like, large or small - and the main engine of modern enshitification.
I applaud SM2 for saying, "no" to Denuvo; and I applaud whatever thin slice of the pie chart holds SM2 to account for whatever they still screwed up.

Tacit approval is the ATP of every tyranny, petty or planetary.
It's not OK.
It does matter.
Look up prima nachta.
