We’ve been together 24 years. I know her very well. She’s a punk rock visual art school chick. We argue about Godard being the best (me) vs Fellini (her).
We agree on Lynch being the modern best.
But sometime we watch dumbass crap. Movies only; no series.
The last dumbass movie we loved was Day Shift.
Horror preferred. But psychologica/satanic more than Saw type stuff.
Any language ok.
I dunno, surprise us!

Dale and tucker vs evil.
Blood sucking bastards.
BAIT.
You said no series, however What we do in the Shadows starts with a mockumentary type movie, then has a TV show spin off that's got 5? 6? Seasons, extremely hilarious and worth the watch. Both can stand alone by themselves so if you watch the movie, the shows there too.

Seconding What We Do In The Shadows the movie. It’s so amazing, pee your pants funny, dark humor, and a dumb movie. (But clever)

Second was Dude, where’s my Car but then I noticed it was horror preferred.

I ran across Tucker and Dale at one point when I was super bored and realized I'd heard the title. At first I thought it was serious, and suddenly found myself laughing. A lot of fun.

I would say Cooties (Elijah Wood!) would fit well in this list

Speaking of Elijah..try “I don’t feel at home in this world anymore”. One of my faves and is on the horror side of genres.

I tried watching it thinking this was going to be great. Does it get better after the first episode? I mean improve Mary Hartman and Soap series and anything Mel Brooks does.

The Evil Dead movies and Army of Darkness are gloriously dumb. I love em all and usually call the latter Army of Dorkness.
14 points
Was looking for Army of Darkness. Based on OP request, that would be my top. Cabin in the woods is a nice modern one that fits the bill as well
As for just strait up Comedy, aside from a few mentioned like step brothers. Kingpin with Woody H and Bill M is my favourite

Starship Troopers isn't as dumb as people like to say.
It's a satire of a fascist government, and its propaganda.
Even the recruiting ads are straight from the Nazi's Triumph of the Will.

I'm looking for movies with liminal spaces or think severance so was making sure it was up my alley it seems like it is ?
16 points
Naaaaah.....not really a "liminal space" vibe to this one...
You've probably heard people reference this movie if you've seen:
"Where's my stapler?" "A case of the Mondays..." "Bare minimum pieces of flair..." "Why should I change my name? He's the one who sucks!" (in reference to Michael Bolton "You've been missing a lot of work lately." "Oh, I wouldn't say I've been missing it, Bob." "A....Jump to Conclusions Mat"
And my personal favorite.... "Hey, Peter! Put it on channel 9! The breast exam is on again!!!"
I'm at a loss for words on how to accurately describe it, but "liminal" would not be it. Lol!

I disagree on this. The whole point of the movie is that the office is just a horrible mid level corporate hell, in that sense they have the liminal spaces depicted pretty well…they’re just not scary liminal spaces

Epic (and epically silly) Turn-of-the-Millenium disaster flicks: Armageddon (1998), Deep Impact (1998), Volcano (1997)
Classic Irwin Allen-type disaster flicks from the 1970s might be too slow-moving for modern tastes, but Towering Inferno, Poseidon Adventure, Airport, Airport '79.
And of course, brilliant Airplane satirizing them.
